As one who has been frequenting several D3Sports.com sites and posting on the boards for over 15 years this seemed like a worthwhile thing to do to keep the site alive.

ABSOLUTELY!!!

I am wondering how the response to this has been... hopefully very positive, enough that it has helped to keep things running... perhaps traffic will increase as some conferences start to play in January... I'm sure SLIAC will become active when games begin in late February (Right YJack, GU, WUPIFFFF?)... will be strange to focus on SLIAC games when the D3 Tourney will be on the "other channel"....  Interesting, my now local conference, D2 Sunshine State Conference, has taken a stance similar to the SLIAC, starting to play in Mid February, declining participation in the NCAA Tourney...

Things are going pretty well -- I'm going to do another social media push here this week but at a thumbnail sketch: We are right at about two-thirds of the way to our goal for monthly Patreon commitments and there have been a lot of generous one-time donations that are a good shot in the arm and will allow us to pay off a good amount of what we owe our various web service providers.

The other night I got the hankering for SLIAC history and started reading from page one of the SLIAC boards... what a great year for the SLIAC board.  I read through 40 pages, almost all during 2005-06 season, and it was certainly the epitome for writing about SLIAC action across the boards.... Now remember, significant history has been lost to these pages s initial posting date back to the late nineties, and real activity seems to have begun in 2001...2001-2004 were lost to these pages during a change in systems (oh man I have memories of some of the writings from them..wish they were available)

So during that season, we had a variety of key posters..
At that time, Maryville was in the conference and I was a huge fan... I got pulled in by Asst Coach Gene Myers, who had just retired from coaching HS b-ball at my local hs... head coach Matt Rodgers was young and aggressive, had a number of very good players, and was open to conversation with me at almost any time..

Fontbonne was covered by FCnews, who was Denny McKinney, son of SLIAC Hall of Fame coach Lee McKinney... Denny and I had brutal disagreements about anything and everything in later years, but during the 2005-2006 we got along pretty well... Fontbonne was playing with a super frosh class that wasn't ready to challenge yet, so most conversation was about what they would do in the future... their time came and they dominated as juniors and seniors...I got so much inside info, so much fun to write about when I was given permission

Webster poster Yjack and I met that year and with both of us being "senior citizens" compared to most posters, and both of us having had a D3 background, we hit it off for a friendship that is unsurpassed to this day.  Webster was also supported by Darryl Lloyd... I never met Darryl, and in 2005-2006 he came across as a big Webster fan... somehow through the years after that he developed a huge chip on his shoulder for certain posters, and eventually, I believe, was removed from these pages by the administrator.

MacMurray had the infamous Mac Attack.. This guy came in during the season as the biggest MacMurray fan ever.. Several believed he was the dad of a ballyhooed incoming transfer student, and Mac Attack wrote about him like he would surely lead this team to a conference title.. it was sour from the get go, Mac struggled to win, the player mentioned was good not great, and eventually Left during the season... not surprisingly, Mac Attach disappeared about that time too... I met him once or twice during that season and he was a good guy, but his frustration grew during the season and he eventually used this sight to attack the Mac coach at that time... still, a great poster and fun read..

Greenville had Panther pride.. I believe a student or just graduated, he announced Greenville games, and may have had something to do with the SiD's office.. very friendly kid, very appreciative of the site, and a diehard Greenville fan...

Blackburn had a number of posters, assumedly all students, who became more and more active as the season went on... Blackburn was one of 3 teams that went into the last night of the regular season tied for first place, and the students were really into it... I gained their favor as I wrote positively about the fun they had dissing opponent players without getting nasty, how they made BC home games something to look forward too... low and behold, at a BC game vs Maryville, the chant went up "where is hopefan"   when I Identified myself, not knowing what to expect, I was rewarded with a Blackburn Beavers tshirt!!!

Westminster had a follower, can't remember his name, who would write now and then about the Jays... so the only school that wasn't covered was Principia, who has a dismal winless SLIAC season anyway..

It was great fun reading... writeups of games and individual players brought back great memories, and the relationships with the other prominent writers on this board at the time will never be forgotten...  anyone reading this?   if you are an old head, go to your favorite conference board and start reading page 1... the memories will flow!!

This is a great story!! What wonderful memories.

As a newbie to the boards, I wish it was still as active as it seemed to have been back in the day.

GU announces its new president today.  Suzanne Allison Davis ('00).  A great choice by the Board of Trustees.  President Davis played volleyball at GU as an undergrad.

GC Panther 01

Davis was also a member of the track team.  I know she threw the javelin and possible competed in the heptathlon.  Though my memory isn't quite that good!
