In the Women's tournament, Principia forfeited a postseason game today due to inclement weather, hours before the storm arrived.  Never seen that before...

Few in the D3 world care about, much less saw, the SLIAC semi Webster at Fontbonne..... let's just say Webster threw up some prayers... and every one of them were answered positively...  an incredible win for the Gorlocks, an unbelievably tough loss for Fontbonne....

Webster vs Blackburn tomorrow... both well under 500... but one is going to the dance....

Yes, some unbelievable shots fell for Webster. Don't think I've ever seen Webster win a game in that fashion. I was out of town about 15 years ago when Ryan Turk hit a half court shot to beat Hanover in an early season game. But this was a tournament semifinal.

Here's what I said five days ago.

I feel like both Webster and Westminster are playing better late in the season, so whoever wins that game could pull out a surprise -- or two. But, given what Westmin did to Webster in Fulton on Feb 5th, I suspect Westmin will be the team to have a chamce at an upset or two.

Happy to be both right and wrong.

Two opportunities for Fontbonne to greatly reduce the likelihood of a game-tying three pointer.  First in regulation and then a flubbed attempt late in overtime.

Thanks so much Y jack.... a shame they didn't include Wynn Brown's 3 pointer on Webster's first possession of OT to beat the shot clock... that may have been craziest shot of the 3!!!!

Totally agree about that first 3 in OT, but it doesn't come with the same amount of drama as the other two.

Blackburn gets the overall No. 1 seed or close, but the Oshkosh pod will be fun nonetheless.

The Webster women go to Rhodes to play Mary Hardin Baylor.  They have the highest Massey Rating of any team in that pod which does not necessarily mean much, but still...

Don't want to turn this into a discussion of the women's tournament, but in announcing the hosting sites it was noted that because the men have hosting preference this year the Mary Hardin-Baylor men are hosting. If this were the women's year for hosting preference the pod at Rhodes would be at UMHB. Of course, it could also be that if this were the women's year for hosting that the NCAA would not have sent Webster to UMHB and several of the pods would look different.

I think Webster will be competitive against UMHB, especially on a neutral court. Good luck to the Gorloks!

If Fontbonne finishes the season at 13-1, they would end up being one of several programs that absolutely dominated conference play.

Fontbonne Women's Soccer
Greenville Volleyball
Webster Men's Soccer
Webster Women's Basketball

And is it too early to predict that Webster baseball will cruise to yet another conference championship?

Well if we are doing this:
- Greenville had 10 of the top 15 runners at the SLICA MCC meet this fall and they have won 18 of last 25 conference meets and the last 6 conference running
- Greenville Men's Track and Field (winners of last 4 conference meets, in '17 and '21 they outscored the rest of the teams combined) *

*Greenville's running programs are maybe the strongest thing going in the league over the past quarter century, despite being a part of a league that is not all that consistent even offering a conference meet in T&F.

SLIAC INDOOR T&F MEET LAST WEEKEND:
GU Men - 339
Other 5 teams combined - 169

GU Women - 259
Other 6 teams combined - 229

Nick Morrow signs back in UMAC country with the Chicago Bears.  Based on the contract it looks like he is going to be slotted in as a starting LB.  He only is signing for one season. and the deal is reportedly for up to 5mm if all incentives are hit.  This is a prove it contract again after he sat out the whole season while playing on a 1 year fully guaranteed 4.5mm deal.  He suffered a broken bone in his foot during a joint practice in the pre-season.  He was on the Raiders roster, just not active, all 2021 season.  This will be his 6th year in the NFL.   If he hits the 5mm mark he will top 15mm for his career earnings.

The Bears LB corps is now super athletic and super fast.  Morrow and Smith are both 4.5 guys who are sudden when changing direction.

It appears that Coach Creal was quietly promoted to head coach at Westminster and is the interim athletic director.
