There is the possibility of a four-way tie at the top of the SLIAC after Saturday's games if the following happens:

Webster loses to Westminster
Fontbonne loses to Greenville
Principia loses at Blackburn
Eureka wins at Spalding

Webster, Fontbonne, Principia, and Eureka would all be 9-5. That's either someone's dream or nightmare when it comes to figuring tiebreakers for tournament seeding.

Here are the tiebreaker rules in case someone is interested: https://www.sliac.org/information/Manual/SLIAC_Tie-_Breaker.pdf

I believe Webster wins every tie break scenario based on their 2-0 record over Principia and 1-1 records against Eureka by both Fontbonne and Webster, but please do not quote me.

Webster has won the SLIAC regular season at 10-4 after winning the tiebreaker against 10-4 Fontbonne.

Webster has won the SLIAC regular season at 10-4 after winning the tiebreaker against 10-4 Fontbonne.

Officially they are co-champions for the regular season, but winning the tiebreaker gives Webster the #1 seed in the tournament and they will host the semi-finals and final game.

The women also won the regular season, #1 tourney seed, and hosting. Grant Gymnasium will be busy this Thursday-Saturday.

Thanks! Yes! I got the records right, but had "tiebreaker" in the wrong spot in an otherwise poorly constructed sentence.

Webster vs Fontbonne at 7 p.m. for a trip to the NCAA tournament.

Both had tough semi-final games last night. Webster's win was aided by the absence of Principia's Payton Sellers due to injury. A strong rebounding performance (+22) by the Gorloks was a big factor in the win.

With 8:30 remaining Webster led Fontbonne 49-44. Final score: Fontbonne 55, Webster 49. Congrats to the Griffins.

Nice win for Fontbonne last night.

Their first tournament championship since 2009 if I read that correctly.  The Griffins were definitely due and got payback for last season.

Fontbonne takes on host and 2019 national champs UW-Oskosh in the NCAA first round.

Former SLIAC member Iowa Wesleyan is closing at the end of the school year. The Tigers were a part of the SLIAC for eight school years, from 2013-14 through 2020-21. They never made much of a dent in the standings in terms of SLIAC men's basketball, but they went 27-3 this season, won their league, and reached the NAIA tourney (in which they lost their first-round game).

In some sad news, former Westminster player (2007-2010) and Webster Groves H.S. alum, Adam Mallette, passed away.

Webster schedule is set. https://websterathletics.com/sports/mens-basketball/schedule/2023-24

Looks like two exhibition games, though they are not identified as such -- Maryville (St. Louis) on 11/14 and Columbia College on 12/30. An odd feature is that both conference games vs Westminster occur early (11/21 and 12/2) before playing any other conference opponents. Non-conference games vs Illinios College, Wilamette U, Maryville (TN), Rhodes, Wash U, Crown, and Martin Luther. The home and away games vs Lyon and MUW must count in SLIAC standings.
