I believe Wilburt is setting us up - if Fisk is good enough to play even with ANY Div 1 team into the 2nd half as they did with Lipscombe, then they have a talent level beyond upper level SLIAC teams.
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

I've seen FISK play twice this year and we were not impressive.  How good can an (0-3) team be guys?  I gave you all a link to the article to show that Lipscomb's legs were tired from the road trip rather than anything special that FISK did.  My goodness, this year's team is no where near as good as last year's team at FISK

Now last year's team could play with just about anybody in the South from D1 to D3!  They had one of the quickest backcourts I've ever seen in college basketball but those guys are gone now and we are left with the remnants of a rebuilding year!
Fisk University: Founded by Missionaries, Saved by Students.

Six NFL draft picks and one Pro Bowler!

Reply to BunchTime's previous post. Three of Webster's five starters, Spinner, Hoggatt, and Kuhn are a little bit above their average minutes form last year. Ryan Turk has more than doubled his minutes from 15.5 to over 32 so far. And Shawn Nichoalds only played in 6 games last year averaging 6 minutes a game. He is now averaging over 25. This is the first year he hasn't been injured for most or all of the season (knock on wood -- as he is the leading rebounder so far).

Y_jack, it is important to note that Spinner is in his forth year as a starting guard on this team.  Kuhn also started last year and was an all-conference selection (honorable mention, I believe), and Hoggatt was also a starter and one of their leading scorers last year.  As for as Turk, I believe his numbers are a little deceptive.  He, like my previous post mentioned about freshman, saw increased playing time as the season progressed which led to him being more of a contributer and his scoring average being much higher in the second half of the season compared to his first half.   Heck, he was on the SLIAC all-tourney team.  And finally, Nicholds has been an on again-off again player for the last 3 years as well.  My point is this: Experience and leadership should not be lacking.  These players should know how to win close games!  But it is tough when you a spot a team a lead or take 10 minutes off during a game!!

Will be interesting to compare Fontbonne performance against Fisk to Webster performance against the same.

Also BeaverSID strangely quiet on the suddenly struggling Beavers - anxious to hear whether the poor performances are just a little pothole in the road to success.....

Right you are BunchTime. I wasn't making excuses, just citing some data. I agree with everything you said. These guys are experienced enough to handle the pressure of close games and be able to win them. Still 21 games to go and hope springs eternal.

Again, just citing facts, Hoggat was first team all-conference last year with Spinner and Kuhn 2nd team.

Turk had one of his best games of the season against Maryville in the SLIAC tournament last March (or was it February) and definitely deserved all-tourney recognition. He has come out this year and played at that same level so far.

Hopefan - Will you be attending tonites FU v. FU match up? Also, sandbagging is not in my nature. This is by far the youngest team in the conference.

Daryl L Lloyd

I have heard rumors of Webster getting a previously named player back on the roster.  Has anyone else heard of this?

Bunchtime u have any inside info?

Not much FC.  Although I missed the games this weekend, I was disappointed to see they lost some close ones.  Like Bunchtime has been saying with the experience this team has they should be getting it done.

unless I collapse after supper, I'm counting on coming out to see the youthful purple people eaters!!!!

Common hopefan, BC loses 2 games in a row and are suddenly in a pothole? Their are teams doin worse then that! You are familiar with us and it is just a bump in the road on the road to success. Gotta have faith!
Given, Blackburn had no homecourt advantage against Rose-Hulman because all of us were on Thanksgiving break already, and the same goes for the game at Wash U.
But we are back, though slacking in the cheering department, but soon enough we will be helping cheer our boys onto victory!
Go Beavers!

dynasty22

Oops sorry hopefan, I miss read your post! I understanding what you were saying now! Just a bump like I said, but as always, we are a talented enough team to recover quickly from it. Next game is Wedensday the 29th at home against Robert-Morris, will you be attending?
Go Beavers!
