BunchTime, try this link. It is the actual box score. If that doesn't work, then Bill Gates probably can't solve your problem. Good night, and good luck!!

Scheduling:  That isn't my philosophy, that's just what I have been told from some coaches here.  The SLIAC won't get an at-large for the NCAA unless some team plays Region teams that are worth while and beats every single one of them, goes into the Conf. Tourney and loses in the title game by 1.  Even then, it'll be a long shot because the SLIAC doesn't get enough love.  Also, those are set aside for the Big DIII Schools (Wash U, IWU, CCIW Schools.)  I don't think there is anything bad with scheduling a cupcake or two.  Really, that's the only game that's a give-me on our schedule.

Greenville Non-Conference
v. Concordia (Ill), v. Dominican (Ill), v. Logan Chiro, at St. Louis Pharmacy, v. Harris-Stowe, v. Robert Morris (Springfield), McKendree.

That's two DIII Region Schools, three NAIA's, an unattached and USCAA school.  How will be fair, we will probably be 2-5 in non-conference (W's v. Logan and St. Louis Pharmacy.)  I'd like to see a split of RMC (Currently 2-4 [Loss to SIUE]) and Harris-Stowe (Currently 2-8 [Loss to UMSL & SIUE]).

I think given our schedule, one cupcake is okay.  I think you also schedule to how you think/know your team is going to be.  We knew we'd be decent in 03-04, so we scheduled Eastern Kentucky, Butler, Robert Morris - Springfield, and Elmhurst.  That was four of our 11 non-conference games. (others STL Pharmacy, Logan, Concordia, Dominican, STL Christian, LCC, and Eureka I think)

As for Greenville v. Logan.  It wasnt much of a game.

Greenville shoots 62.1% from the field.
Hensold: 5-8 and 12 pts
Taylor: 3-5 and 8 pts
Mutton: 3-5 and 7 pts
Simmons: 3-6 and 13 pts (5-6 FT)
West: 3-7 and 6 pts

Bench
Atchison: 2-4 and 4 pts
Conquest: 8-11 and 17 pts
Hobbie: 4-7 and 8 pts
Ellis: 5-7 and 10 pts
Williams: 5-6 and 11 pts

The Beast from East (Or LaPhonso Ellis) led in rebounds along side Williams with 6 each.  Nothing much more needed for this contest.

Panthers open the SLIAC Season on Saturday at Blackburn.  I have watched 105 consecutive Greenville College Men's games.  Saturday, I will miss my first.  I have committed to helping a friend, Brandon Martin... you may remember him, at his job in ElPaso, Ill.  Ill be at the Greenville Women's game though on Friday night.  I wish my boys well.  Give 'em hell in our 3rd game in the Beaver Dome this season.

Nice to see the Gorloks put it on em.  Robinson with 14 pts and 12 boards in 21 min, thats impressive.

Bunchtime: perhaps you should get a new computer, yours does not seem to be working correctly.

It looks like WU's inside game put Fisk into severe foul trouble. Pride no one is dissing GC'd scheduling, especially not me. I was just curious as to the state of Logan's program. Thanks for answering my question. See ya next wednesday night.

It's not as subjective as you're making it sound, Pride. The D3 selection committee is tied to a very thorough formula involving the five primary criteria when it comes to picking Pool C (at-large) teams. It has nothing to do with any particular conference "get[ting] enough love" or not, nor are any at-large bids "set aside" for the power conferences. In fact, before the the tournament was expanded to 59 teams the power conferences hereabouts (WIAC and CCIW) got shut out of extra bids more often than not.

Wow. That's a very impressive streak, Pride! Congratulations. It's a noteworthy display of loyalty and determination on your part. But you're doing the right thing by missing Saturday's game. A friend in need should always come first.

Webster lost to Reinhardt, whom Maryville's lone victory came over, but beat Fisk, who was so impressive vs Fontbonne the night before....   I guess that's why they make 'em play all the games!  Hopefully this shows how well Webster is capable of playing and why they should be a favorite in the SLIAC race - next game vs Millikin is another great test for Webster - the two old men of the board just might travel up to Millikin to see that one....

Pride ....  You sure this steak ending isn't because Martin has a good lookin sister????  We'll have to depend on our Blackburn correspondents for a report!

Congrats to Webster.  I knew it would be tough to win back-to-back nights on the road!  But going (1-1) on the road is not that bad.   Fisk plays another midwest school Otterbein on Thursday (at home) so that should be nice. It has been nice chatting with you guys from the SLIAC and I may come back if and when Fisk ever plays another SLIAC school.

Good Luck to Fontbonne and Webster the rest of the season.  You all have been great hosts.

Mac Attack

North Park U d. Eureka  75-66 OT

From what I've been reading on the CCIW board, North Park is much improved. All of us in the "Pick 'Em" thought Eureka would win, and the Red Devils certainly played them tough. Eureka appears to be a probable conference championship contender.

In the "What were they thinking" department, between November 26 and December 29, MacMurray plays two games - one on December 6 and one on December 9. Two games in 34 days. Ten days between their game with Grinnell and their game at Lincoln Christian. And 20 days between their game with Webster and their game in LaGrange, Georgia. That's asking a lot from these kids, to start and stop and restart like that. I'm guessing there was a tentitively scheduled game in there somewhere with Illinois College, and when IC pulled the plug on the game, MacMurray had to scramble. The game at Western Illinois on November 2 was apparently the replacement game. I guess the good news is this will allow the players to concentrate on their classwork and heal up from any injuries or sickness. But still............

Mac Attack

Apparently Eureka had a 19 point lead with 11 minutes to play (at home) and lost in overtime. Ouch.

y_jack_lok

I was concerned when Webster had a "comfortable" lead well into the second half, that Fisk would effectively turn up the heat, get some quick baskets, and close the gap. But the guys responded well and that didn't happen. Then it looked like for the last 2 1/2 to 3 minutes Fisk just gave up, which is why I said in my first post that they might be tired.

fcnews

On Fisk's behalf it was their 3rd game in 4 days. A good game at D1 Lipscomb (who beat Evansville) on Saturday, then a long bus ride from Nashville for back to back games. Also, it wasn't a charter bus they were on. The Gorlocks will need to find some consistancy from behind the arc for conference play. It'll be tough to win in the SLIAC with many 2-18 shooting nites. Still a very good win for the boys down Big Bend.

y_jack_lok

Webster also played 3 games in 4 days (MSOE Sat 11/25, Reinhardt Sun 11/26, and Fisk Tue 11/28), but had the advantage of playing all those at home.

hopefan

Webster also had the advantage of having practically the whole team and coaching staff over at Fontbonne to see Fisk play - much easier for the kids to envision what had to be done to get a win, whereas I'm willing b to bet Fontbonne hd little to go on for their game with Fisk..

Yep. All those little things can add up to a measurable advantage.
