That my friends is the true beauty of this league - 2 knowlegeable people have taken a look at the final 4, and already can agree on only 2 teams.  And you know that FCnews will have Fontbonne in his pick, and someone will likely pick Blackburn too -  Who will hit the final 4???   Would be fun to ALL get together for a prefinal 4 dinner!!!!!!
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

If MacMurray is in the final four, count me in HopeFan...

So Pride ,old buddy. That means you have the Griffins somewhere between 7th and 10th. I'll pass this info on to the boys. They already have payback in mind when you all visit the DSAC. Ellis can shoot all the three's he wants next game. Just kiddin' pride

It's hard to judge the Beavers score. UMSL has been having the best of seasons, but it was much closer then MU's game.

Mac Attack

Help me out here, guys. MacMurray's next opponet - Rockford College - has really struggled this year (although they were 15-12 last season, including a 83-78 defeat of Mac). Two nights ago, they lost by about 40 to Transylvania. Last night, Rockfrod defeats Westminster (Utah) College, who was the #22 NAIA Division 1 team in the country. Talk about about a blast across the bow! My hats off to any coach that can get his team to bounce back from a 40 point loss and win the next night, especially when the opponent is nationally ranked. My question is - how does NAIA Division1 compare to D3? And more specifically, how would you compare the better NAIA Division 1 teams to the SLIAC? Rockford has had some ugly losses - but on the other hand, they have played some WIAC teams relatively close, including Elmhurst (lost by 19) and North Park (lost by 3) - and got thumped by a very good Augustana team (lost by 34).

How good would a NAIA Division 1 team (ranked #22) be, compared to the better  SLIAC conference teams?

Pat Coleman

Might not be a very accurate ranking. Westminster is now 8-7. Hardly great.

The thing about the NAIA divisions is that they are not very large. There are fewer than 100 teams total in NAIA Division I -- 88 listed on the NAIA site, in fact. A top 25 of NAIA Division I would be like if we ranked a Top 80 or so of D-III.

The top 5 or so in NAIA Division I are normally considered unwinnable games for D-IIIs. But the rest, ehh, not so much.

1. Eureka  (Why not, everyone else has)
2. Greenville  (Really think my boys are coming togeather)
3. Westminster (Mo.)  (Awful decent NC schedule)
4. Maryville (Mo.)  (I believe in the Saints)
5. MacMurray
6. Webster
7. Fontbonne
8. Blackburn
9. Lincoln Christian
10. Principia

FCNews coming back to bust my chops.  I mean, with Fontbonne being Greenville's biggest rivial, how can I put them in the top 4.  I mean, by GC boys would have me chopped up! ;)  From 1 to 7 or 8, it's really a toss up.  Fontbonne & Blackburn needs wins to stay in the game come Saturday.  Being three down out of the gate will be tough.  Every game, with exception to LCC/Principia (Sorry Guys) will be or should be great games.  Greenville's games v. Blackburn & Fontbonne were great!  Two of the better games I have seen in a few years.... well, atleast since the Triple OT game v. FCNews' boys.

NOTE ON FINAL FOUR DINNER:  If Blackburn comes back from the dead and wins the #1 seed, i say we schedule our dinner in a different town!  Unless Beaver_SID can get us some good Accommodations someplace in Carlinville.  lol

If you end up eating in Eureka, I hope y'all like Pizza Hut. The Red Devils have a winnable game at former conference rival Dominican Wednesday. This could be a W, but Eureka hasn't played in ages it seems, so it's far from a guaranteed victory.

Since you asked about them, I would expect Mac to defeat Rockford. We played and lost to them 3 times last year, but they have lost almost all of their good players off that team.

I've only seen 3 teams so far, but here's my shot at the 4 playoff teams:

Eureka
Westminster
MacMurray
Webster

Also,
Ill post my four whenever I get back to school, not a lot of time to do the research right now. Sorry guys but Carlinville, well its Carlinville, not to many nice places to eat.

Isn't there a down home pizza/Italian place on the west side of town near the high school? Ricci's, Ricky's, -- something like that.

There is a Nick's Pizza place by Wal-Mart. They do have a pretty good lunch buffet for like 7 seven dollars.

y_jack_lok

Nick's Pizza -- that's the place. Since my wife grew up in Carlinville, when we lived in Springfield and our son was young we'd take an occasional day trip to Carlinville and have lunch there. I believe it would be conducive to the kind of gathering being proposed by the prognosticators of the SLIAC tourney participants. Now Blackburn needs to start winning so they can host the tournament again.
