Could somebody please explain to who this Gregory Sager guy is and what SLIAC school he is connected with. I checked back quite a few pages and have found that his last comment was a religous slur. To which he gave a backhanded appology. There has been a good thread of conversation flowing and I just don't see what this joker brings to the plate. Other than his superb english skills. Hopefan can you shed some light on this guys ties with the SLIAC?

Ballhog  -  suffice to say Mr Sager has been around these pages a long time and has a vast amount of knowledge regarding D3 hoops.. He's a North Park supporter, but takes an interest in any of the rooms that are really writing about d3 hoops  - he'll ruffle a feather now and then with a little attitude, (I USED to get upset with him over his cold hearted corrections of my easy going statements) but he's a real d3hoops buddy  -  the religious reference by Greg was meant to be a light hearted chuckle, not a slur.  If you come to these pages often, you'll get used to him and respect his knowlege, and enjoy his humor.

Mac wins big over Rockford, Eureka loses by 9 to Dominican (a team that Blackburn beat), Webster plays flat against Wash U and loses by 16.   Webster was disappointing.....  People who played extremely well last year, whose hustle and effort I really appreciated last year even though I was a maryville fan, just seem bland and at 70% effort this year.  They may still have the talent to be a SLIAC contender, but teams that put out like Maryville or Fontbonne or Greenville have a chance to surpass them if they don't find their spark.  Hoggat played hard in the 2nd half, and a couple of the new faces off the bench got scrappy, but other than that, a real low effort.... :-\

Responding to Sager re the OAC. I know that's a conference. I just posted in haste and in an attempt to be cute came out looking stupid. Thanks for the correction.

Gregory Sager

Thanks for having my back, Hopefan. :)

What?! You mean that the guy who stands around correcting everybody else's little mistakes really isn't the life of the party? My mom lied to me! :D

Mac Attack

MacMurray 94   Rockford 66

Game went back and forth for the first ten minutes, then MacMurray pulled away. Robertson had a huge first half. No one could match up with him. Monster on the boards. Whalem also played well in the first half, insie and out. Schmidt came off the bench and filled it up in the second half. Hit six straight field goals at one points. Greene had a nice game scoring, rebounding, defense. Highlanders looked real sluggish early and Rockford hit some shots to keep it close. But once Mac got cranked up, it was lights out.

The Rockford coach was worth the price of admission. He coached like his hair was on fire the first 15 minutes. Never seen anything like it. Screaming at his team, screaming at the officials, screaming at the wall, throwing plastic bottles, whipping his coat off. You would have thought it was the NBA finals. Once the Regents fell behind, and then fell well behind, he packed it in and just sat there like he was on heavy medication. Last 10 minutes of the game he never stood up and barely said a word.

Westminster @ MacMurray on Saturday. Big game for both team, but real big for the Highlanders, given it's their home floor. Mac will be the underdog and will need to play 40 minutes of excellent basketball to win. They can do it.

Eureka lost to Domincan 74-65. I was not able to go as we had a home women's game (also a loss). Looking at the stats, it was a horrendous 1st half for EC. I would like to blame this on having 25 days between games, but Dominican about 2 weeks off themselves. It may have been a different story had the game been at home (as Blackburn did when they beat Dom.), but when you shoot 8-27 in the 1st half, you can't add in 13 turnovers. Still, the game was there for the taking in the 2nd half, but couldn't quite get over the hump. Hopefully, this will be an easy one to brush off as we get back to conference play versus Maryville Saturday.

ballhog01:  Don't worry.  I scratch my head as you do at Mr. Sager.  If you look at past post, I have bumped heads with him quite a few times this year.  I just ignore any outlandish things he says that ruffles your feathers!

Hope:  AHHHHH....  Can't attend the Maryville (Mo.) game.  Other job committments.  That will end my consecutive game streak for Greenville at 110 games (following the Prin game.)  I will do what I can to attend all i can.  Most of the road week games I have to drive to myself and with games at 6, it'll be hard to attend.  I won't be at any Saturday games because of my Track & Field job.  It sucks big time!!!

If MacMurray College hosts the post season tournament, we're at Leo's in downtown Jacksonville. Best pizza and pasta place south of Chicago. Unbelievably awesome place. Been at the same location for something like 65 years. Same family runs it. If you come to Jacksonville for a game, Leo's is a must-go place to eat. Hopefully the Highlanders will shock the SLIAC and get the #1 seed - and we'll be able to have our pre-tournament gathering at Leo's!

eureka sid -  I wouldn't quite say that BC playing at home against Dom. made a big difference, simply because the crazies are absolutely terffible right now and don't seem to understand what school spirit is.  No homecourt advantage = rediculous. Every school should have the student section as a 6th man but hopefully when we get back from break it will turn around.
Besides a select few, the crazies to get it together!
Go Beavers!

Mac Attack

Some interesting stats just came out for NCAA D3. Through 12/31/06:

Fontbonne is first in the nation in scoring defense (50.0) and scoring margin (29.9). Mac's Jerel Roberson is second in FG% (74.4%) and Farrid Coleman is seventh in 3pt% (52.6%). Several SLIAC teams have players in the top 100 in different categories. Here's the link:

For some reason, Mac's stats don't include the Grinnell game. Not sure if that's the good news or bad news....

Mac  I'm not looking up your source to see if it's wrong, or if you somehow read it wrong, but your statement about Fontbonne, if based on Fontbonne's season to date activity, is obviously incorrect  -  you might want to recant.....  They're giving up about 79 points per game and their scoring margin is likely negative

It's an NCAA link. But I agree, I don't think the stats are 100% accurtate (i.e. Mac's stats don't include the Grinnell game). Check out the link and make of it what you can....

I should have posted this earlier but I have been a little busy.  I felt like the MacMurray players and coaches represented the SLIAC to the fullest.  They are a very tough team to play against because they play well together and play to the death.  They are going to give a legitimate run for #1 in the league.  Mac Attack you should be very proud of your highlanders.  I wish them the best of luck the rest of the way.

Very classy statement by the head coach at LaGrange - glad you follow these pages coach, and best of luck tomorrow against "the other" Maryville ;)
