Interesting the question about who plays first the women (please, let's not use "girls"-- unless you're going to use "boys" instead of men) or men.

Thank you!

Thank you?  For what? Another pointless statement about political correctness.  Ok everyone here is the new rule for the board. . . you are no longer allowed to refer to the mens team as anything but the "male basketball team" or the women's as anything but the "female basketball team".  No more, guys/girls. mens/womens, whatever/lady's.  When a statement as simple as the one Bunchtime made is twisted into a debatable topic, its no wonder so many chose to leave this board.  Give me a break.

Godfather - How is Buxton's rehab going? Do you know when he might return? If WC can keep in touch of the leaders in his absense that would be huge.

fcnews

Daryl - What's up? Happy New Year to you. I expect we'll see ya Thursday night.

y_jack_lok, you going to be at the Greenville/Webster game on Tuesday???

NO -- a statement about freakin' accuracy. It's MEN'S basketball and WOMEN'S basketball. If you want to talk girls' basketball go back to high school.

Pardon me for caring about what the sports are actually freakin' called, AND, for having some respect for the young adult women that play this game.

Thank you for your report on the game Saturday and welcome to the board, Godfather.

It looks like opinions have soured quickly on this board about the Red Devils. Amazing what 5 days, 3 road games, and an ice storm can do. It's interesting to see the Godfather (who watched EC lose on Saturday) be one of the few to pick Eureka to 2 win this week. Of course, I would not expect to Mac Attack or Pride to pick against their teams and it's easy for me to be critical since I'm not posting my picks.

Somebody will be handed their 3rd straight loss tonight following the Mac/EC game. Eureka probably need this one a little more, as Mac does have an easier schedule down the stretch as Mac Attack noted.

On the "who plays first" issue, the women's team played first each time we had doubleheaders last year. We didn't have many on week nights as the men and women played on separate nights for NIIC conference games. I know our women's coaches would prefer playing first, but we usually have a decent crowd stick around for their games.

Eureka SID,

I typically post in the MWC chat, but I happened to see your "handle" and thought I'd drop you a quick note to congratulate you on your first post! You'll be a starter in no time!

Whose side were you on in the Gillen-Buren MVP debate?

This is from perhaps the only other person on the planet who truly appreciates what a great pitcher Chuck Hamilton was.

Indeed. Hamilton was a stud. If you ever needed one guy to pitch 27 innings in 2 days, he was your man.

I voted for Buren. Before you start thinking this was a homer vote, keep in mind since I started working at the Macomb tourney (1995), Buren is the first Macomb player, I've voted for (even though it's the 3rd time a Macomb player has won).  I wanted it to go to the winning team and it looked like Macomb was going to win at halftime. I guess I just got lucky. The vote should have been close as Gillen had an awesome display vs. Farmington, but I doubt it was. Never underestimate the homer vote.

Thanks for the note, schwanman...and get some rest. Only 2 weeks until the Grinnell game.

They are all coming out!  Welcome all the posters that have shown themselves the last few days!  The SLIAC board is back!  Allright!

Eureka_sid:  You are right.  I can't pick against my team.  I also don't know alot about your team and I do Mac.  Mac should have beat us.  Plain and simple.  They were a much better team down the stretch.  But, we turned it on and shot lights out.  Now, if we stick to our game plan and can knock down shots, we will be okay.  What happened to Greenville v. Mac early in the 2nd half is the same that happened midway through the 2nd v. Maryville.  Just went cold.  We can't have that.

Pat:  You are absoutely right.  I many times will say girls & guys. I'll try to watch myself.

pride, I will be at the Webster-Greenville games tonight. I sit on the side opposite the benches, top row, slightly to the visitors' side of mid court. I'm one of the "old guys".

What a great week to be a D3/SLIAC/WashU fan and live in St. Louis!

So many crucial, competitive games to see..

On Tuesday, a very tough decision :
Undefeated Greenville at Webster, or down the street, Westminster at Fontbonne  :  I'm opting to see Westminster @ Fontbonne, which I expect will be a real shootout.   I'll keep steady phone contact with Y jak regarding the WU - GC score, but unless Webster changes some thing quickly, I foresee Greenville being way too quick - on the other hand, Hoggat could have a field day against the limited Greenville inside game.

Wednesday is off, but Thursday, the battle of Big Bend, with Fontbonne @ Webster.  I have to think FU will be favored, but if Coach Bunch can light a fire under the Gorlocks, it could turn into a great game.

Friday, let's turn it over to the UAA, and see Rochester play @ Wash U

Saturday, maybe a road trip to see Greenville @ Eureka, or if we don't want to go quite that far, Westminster @ Blackburn.

Sunday, another good UAA game with CMU @ Wash U

Like I said, a great week of D3 hoops.
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Hopefan - We'll see you tonite. FU v. WC games are usually hard fought and entertaining. If WC slows the game down and pounds into Davis it could be a tough night for FU. If FU can dictate the tempo and make it a game in the 80's, then FU has a chance.

Also, I wouldn't say Fontbonne is favored Thursday night. You have one of the pre season favorites facing the youngest team in the conference.

Lastly, with the way games have played out so for, does anyone have an educated guess on what kind of record it will take to make the final four.
