Webster 82-Principia 63. If Principia could solve one problem they might make some noise in the conference. That problem is shooting. They simply miss too many shots. They play fundamentally sound basketball, move and pass well, take care of the ball pretty well, play decent defense. But in the end it's all about putting the ball through the hoop, and they just can't do it enough.

Another big game for Darrin Hoggatt: 29 points, 9 rebounds. Scott Spinner got a standing ovation after scoring the 1,000th point of his career.

BC dominates Westminster

This would have be called a game of defense. The score was only 22-19 at the half. Turnovers and some big steals would keep things going back and forth. And now looking down at my Box score it seems i grabbed 2 womens and no mens so ill paraphrase as best I can. Westminster jumped out to an early 0-6 lead but BC would go on a run to lead 8 or so coming close to the half. Both teams made a run for it at the half. But it would be BC would come out on top. BC would come out of the gate firing. Taking its lead to almost twenty half way through the second half.

BC had great showings from Hammond, Smith, Allan, and Howard.

Westminsters #5 was also a force to be reckoned with. thankfully BC pulled away and WC was forced to sit their big center in place of some running 3point shooters. Kinda like a Colts game, lol there ya go Pride.

Ill try to get a box ASAP.

I would also just like to point out that BC womens also won tonight in a 73-71 battle. THERE WAS 45 FOULS CALLED IN THE GAME!!!! Great job ladies. Thi was their first win of the season and it brings them to 1-13.. SAD DAY.

Beaver SID, what was the score of the men's game?

Wow, Hoggatt another bug game!  Hopefully, Webster can keep rolling!  Looks like they are playing well ever since the win over Greenville!  Hats off to Spinner who reached the 1,000 point milestone!  He is a great player who I hope has the chance to leave Webster after playing in a NCAA Tourney game.  I am sure he wants nothing more than to end his fine career in a tourney game.  I look for him to put the team on his back when the team needs a big stop or a bucket!  Good luck Gorloks!!

Mac beats Maryville by 6.... MU played pretty well, but Mac's zone defense kept MU on the perimeter and MU just can't shoot.  Jarred Mckoy back at point for MU, did a Nice job, but Tyler Saxton, moving to wing, shot poorly.   Whalum, Robertson, Greene played well for Mac -  Coach is intense!!-  I like it.

Mac reminds me a little of Greenville - not quite as quick as Greenville, but with more of a presence around the basket.

Best laid plans somehow went awry   -  Eureka SID never answered his phone, Mac Attack either was a no show or didn't introduce himself.  Did meet FUpride - knowlegeable young man with some good hoops background.
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Heard a final from Eureka...

Eureka d. Greenville   90ish to 78ish...

Cell Phone was cutting out.  Did hear that Greenville fell apart at the end.

Westminster's loss keeps the panthers in 1st w/ 2 losses.

Agreed, BunchTime, that it would be great for Spinner to wind up his career in an NCAA tourney game. Aslo, he only needs slightly more than 100 points over the next 9 games to jump up to 4th place on the all time Webster scoring list. Right now he's in 6th.

Eureka 90, Greenville 78

Greenville started out with some tough pressure defense, but the Panther D really wore down in the second half. EC shot 75% after halftime and scored 58 points all without No. 2 scorer Tim Peffer. Amazing game by Eureka guard Matt McComb scoring 35 points including Eureka's first 10.

Interesting starting line up today for EC with Hendricks and McCoy getting their first starts and only 2nd game played this season. Normal starters Richard (19 min.) and Tarpley (22 min.) proved to be nice insurance policies coming off the bench, though Richard had a sub par game. Hendricks played really tough defense and showed good quickness. But the day belonged to McComb. He took the bull by the horn today and instead of distributing like he normally does, he was super aggresive looking to the basket. This team needed a game like that from him.

It was a tough move to sit regulars against the 1st place squad, but Coach Bruer seems to have pushed the right buttons. This is a huge win to stop a 3-game losing streak and it really tightens the standings.

Greenville shot well in the second half as well (65%). I was very impressed with Conquest as a scorer. He can make some tough shots in the lane. GC didn't use the bench much in this game and that may have been their downfall. EC had several run-outs late leading to easy baskets. Only 2 players fouled out for GC in this game, so that's a big improvement. I see GC plays Westminster next. I'll be interested to see how that one turns out.

Hopefan, I got your messages. Since we were running behind due to the OT women's game, we were able to announce the score. That's also the first thing everyone wants after the game. I tried calling you back at the number in my phone and I left messages at that number, but it didn't sound like you got them. I may have a wrong number. Getting reception in our gym is like finding a needle in a haystack.

I either can't figure it out, or I am not allowed to send messages to you on this site. We'll get in touch soon if we both keep trying.

I heard that now both Buxton and Kurz are out for WC. FU won one that was closer then need be. LCC plays well at home and had a nice crowd. FU got 32 from Branch, 6-9 3 pt., Fogerty 17 and White 17. McCoy did not score, I beleive he was 0-4 from floor, but had 8 assists 5 rebs and 1 to and held Everette scoreless in the second half.

FU only traveled with 8 players do to the fact FU's JV was playing in the championship game of the 40th something Concordia Tourney. FU JV won by 20. Zach Dill had 43 pts. in the Championship game and Terrance Lovette had 31 (he 34 friday). Today at LCC, FU got big minutes from Fr. Matt Bader who had 4 pts. and 4 rebounds.

Westminster is battling sickness and injury pretty badly throughout.  Hope they can get healthy for the second half, tough loss today.

FU_Pride

hope- nice meeting you today.  sorry i had to leave at half, i rememebered i had to get some money in the bank by 4!  I was really suprised at how young Maryville is.  I wasn't expecting them to be that young.  Really impressed with the two freshmen that started.  I know they made some mistakes trying to make things happen, but they are young.  They could be a good core to build around at Maryville the next couple of years.
As for FU.  Pulled out a squeker up at LCC today.  From what I hear, Lincoln Christian isn't a team to take lightly.  I wish I would have taken that beat when I said that Branch wouldn't go 3-16 again, as he went for 32 today.  Also another strong showing by Brian Fogerty.

Sportsjunky

after the first part of the sliac race the standings are....

      - Mac at first with 7-2
      - Greenville second at 6-2
      - Webster (6-3)
      - Fontbonne (5-3)
      - Eureka (5-3)
      - Westminister (4-4)
      - Blackburn (4-4)

Its hard to say this early but with 7 teams in the hunt i would have to believe Westminister has to pull off the W vs Greenville to stay in the hunt this week, otherwise there gonna find themselves in a hole that is going to be hard to get out of considering they would be under 500...

The game of the week next week would hands down have to be the rematch between the (in my opinion) the #1 and #2 team in the conference, MacMurray vs Webster.  Should be a battle considering Mac stole one from the Gorlocks at their place and the gorlocks trying to get some revenge at the Highlanders and which in all reality could be one of the games that determines the home court advantage in the tourny! (i know thats looking ahead a bunch, but have to believe one of those two teams are a valuable choice at the VERY top at the end of the year....
