Before last night White was 10th in scoring (29 @WC), 1st in 3pt % (@WC 7-11), 4th in 3pt. made, 94% ft, 16th in rebs.

Just to throw a few stats out. And he is a true freshmen.

With the season already at its final two weeks it seems hard to say the leaders still arent safe with ten wins apiece but they all have a tough road ahead of them.  I can see Blackburn being the spoiler.  Mac and Webster both have to travel to the Beaver Dome.

Webster has a tough game ahead of them heading up to Eureka. (which is a big game for more than one reason, if Eureka can pull this one out then that will mean they split the series, and lets have Mac have a huge tiebreaker, with there sweep of Eureka.)  It also will mean by friday night the lead with get cut down to 2 teams instead of three or if greenville can take out mac then we will have one leader going into the last three games.  Webster has there hands full, with @ Eureka @ Blackburn, then turn around and a BIG game against Fontbonne.  Webster has played pretty well on the road going 4-1, which i dont think any other team can say.  Then the finish off with Prin.  I see them finishing 2-2 (very easily go 3-1, but if the big guys not playing friday that could be dangerous) Which i see them finishing 12-6

Eureka is going to have there hands full as well with Webster, Westminister, and Greenville all coming up.  Then a finish off with Prin.  Atleast Eureka has the final 3-4 games at home. Eureka has went a solid 5-1 at home this conference and only loss coming to MacMurray.  I see them finishing 3-1, which will put them at a 13-5 mark.

MacMurray also has there hands full with Greenville and Fontbonne both coming to Mac.  Mac lost both games the first part of the year.  Then they have to turn around and head to the Beaver Dome and a finish off with Maryville coming to Mac.  Mac also has an edge with playing 3-4 at home.  Mac has been 5-1 at home during conference and the only loss coming to Webster.  I can see Mac finishing 3-1 and heading into the tourny with a 13-5 mark.

Fontbonne i believe is going to fill the 4th spot.  With them hosting Prin and L.C. that SHOULD give them two Ws and then they have Mac, Webster, and Maryville all on the road.  If they can pull one of these 3 games then that will put them at a solid 12-6 spot.

Greenville could be a force to reckon with also but they have 3 tough road games, going to Mac (4-1 at home), L.C. (everyone knows there capable of sneaking up on someone) and then Westmin (6-2 at home) and there home game is against Eureka.  Thats a tough lil ride Greenville has in front of them.  Not saying they arent capable of finishing with winning 3 out of the 4 and putting them at 12-6 but i just dont see it.  i have them at 2-2 and just coming up short at 11-7.

Westminister is a dangerous team.  They have five games left, but 4-5 out on the road.  Heading to L.C., Eureka, Maryville, and Greenville.  Then hosting Blackburn.  They need to run the table here and finish with a 5-0 mark.  Putting them at 12-6.  but fontbonne has them in the tiebreaker so it'll be tough for them to make it.

I know anything can happen, there are still alot of basketball to be played and alot of tough match ups that could make my predictions look like a joke but I just wanted to throw out my cheap 2 cents!

Nice analysis Sportsjunky though you almost gave me a headache with all these possible senarious that may play out.  Frankly, almost too many different finishes can occur to analyze yet, other some obvious one such as who the teams are vying for a spot in the SLIAC Tourney.  After this weekend, it will clear up that much more, but still way too much ball to be played to say anything is safe.  Crazy things happen!

fcnews -- You asked for another strong Newcomer of the Year candidate (and I'm pretty sure Coleman qualifies) and I gave you one. White and Coleman are two completely different players - one plays inside, the other plays outside. Both are extremely valuable to their teams. Coleman puts up some nice stats in a number of categories. Has to be considered. My vote would go to both of them and make them Co-Newcomer of the Year winners. Other psoters - correct me if I'm wrong, but was Zak Allen a true freshmen for Blackburn last year when he won the Newcomer of the Year? I think he's a senior this year, but I may be wrong.

I was looking at the SLIAC manual and notice a couple of pertinent points as we all start to gear up for the conference tournament...

"The Host School's SID will produce a tournament program, is responsible for statistics for all games played there and will call the results to the conference SID and the Post Dispatch after each game."
Well the conference, has no SID per SLIACcommish's most recent post, and at least one of the contending schools has no SID and has exhibited an abysmal track record for getting game information out  (Just ask Mac Attack).  I for one would recommend the conference hire someone, ie an SID from one of the other competing schools such as this forum's Pantherpride or EurekaSID to assure a competent job is done in order to keep schools, fans, and press informed should the host school not have an SID.  I'm just not sure that an inexperienced person could get the job done as it should be and as the kids and fans deserve.

KEEP AN EYE ON THIS IN THE LAST COUPLE GAMES OF THE SEASON:

Tiebreakers :
2 team , except for 4th  1) head to head    2) record of the tied teams against other teams starting with highest    3) point differential between the two teams

multiple teams , including 4th    1 )head to head  2) point differential

Interpretation question - if there are multiple teams tied, and head to head distinguishes one team, leaving two, does that  continuing tie move to the two team format (record against other teams from highest), or does it stay in the multiple, (point differential  - interpretation of that could lead to two different decisions.

Head to head winners so far are Eureka winning twice over Fontbonne, Mac winning twice over Eureka, and Fontbonne winning twice over Westminster

Also note that point differential could be crucial
Point differentials of teams that have played 2 times and split are:
Fontbonne + 13 over Greenville, Webster +12 over Westminster, Webster +7 over Mac, Webster +12 over Greenville,  Westminster +7 over Mac.

A final point - Westminster and Greenville are still really in things - REMEMBER - a fourth place tie between two teams is broken by an additional playoff game, not a tiebreaker. So if there is a 3 way tie for third behind 1st and 2nd, all 5 teams make the playoffs.  Seemingly, if there is a 3way tie for 4th, one team would be eliminated by a tiebreaker, and the two remaining would play the playoff for fourth.

Sorry if this is confusing or longwinded - just wanted to show lots of ramifications if the standings stay tight.

Mac Attack - I was stating the fact that NOTY needs to be a true freshmen. I guess I was gloating cause he is.

Sports Junky - Nice post - One error or view. If FU beats PC on friday, there will be a least a two way tie on the loss side

Hopefan - Great job. The MC SID problem was discussed at last nites FU v. WC game. WC still hasn't got stats from the WC @MC women's game played on Jan 16th. WC was told they couldn't email it and when asked for a fax, they were told the fax machine was broken. I have a hard time understanding how an institution with these concerns could host an event like the "SLIAC Conference Tournament". I really feel for the Men's team.

So hopefan by your theory FU is a +9 heading to MC on Saturday?

hopefan

ok guys - in my devious mind, here's what happens:

Westminster gets hot down the stretch, winning 5 in a row including over Eureka and Greenville, to finish 12-6

Greenville stays hot, beating Mac and Eureka and LCC, but loses the game to Westmin, to finish   12-6

Can you see where this is going?

Eureka, smarting from its losses to Greenville and Westmin, beats Webster and Prin to finish  12-6

Webster with the loss of Hoggat this weekend (in my little scheme), loses to Eureka and Blackburn, but bounces back to beat Fontbonne and Prin to finish 12-6

Mac loses to Greenville, Hammond scores 50 to lead Blackburn over them, but Mac beats Fontbonne and Maryville, to finish....12-6

and well, in my imaginary scenario, Font lost to Mac and Webster, but beats Prin, LCC and Maryville   to finish 12-6

6 way TIE !!!!!!!

OK Hope now figure the tiebreakers.

What if- FU beats PC, LCC and MU. Then splits the @MC and @WU. That gets them to 13-5. As I don't see anyone of the four running the board. Is FU mathmatically eligable to Host this thing. ??? ;D

hopefan

you bet - that's when we go to tiebreakers  you definitely don't want to be in tiebreaker with Eureka -you'd lose out.  If it got down to points, you'd win out over Greenville.  And yes, right now you're + 9 over Mac, so if you lose Saturday, you don't want to lose by more than 8 ....  just in case.....

BC needs some help but their not outta there yet!

Im glad to se tht BC is not completely out of it yet, I think our guys could make a great run at this final stretch. they have a lot to topple yet, They have to play hard and win-out and still hope for a couple top teams to drop one or two. Ill be rooting for the guys all the way.

Also, sorry to hear about Hoggat that a big loss. How long will be out?

**Blows Whistle**

Holy Cow  :o Too many scenarios...  My mind is fried after reading all of that.  As is pertains the the SLIAC Tournament and who will be the SID, programs and other info.  If there at SID's out there reading that may host that do not currently make programs, I would gladly lend my hand in making the programs.

I'm happy to see people on here tossing my name around for doing more work. Y'all know how to make a guy feel right at home  ;D.

I may be able to shed some light on the tie-breaker issue. In volleyball, there were 4 teams tied for 3rd: Maryville, Greenville, Eureka and Lincoln Christian. MU and GC went on to the tourney based on 2-1 h2h records. From there, GC was seeded 3rd because they beat MU. I know this doesn't answer all of the questions, but hey, that's all I got. The SLIAC Commish sent me an e-mail on this issue in the fall, but I think I deleted it.

When and where would the tie-breaker game be played? The regular season ends Tuesday and the tourney starts Fri. Do tie-breakers determine who hosts the tie-breaker game?

Finally, Friday's game with Webster is "Hawaiian Night" at the Reagan Center. While I can't offer free pizza like Fontbonne does, the football team will give you a discount on pizza if you dress in Hawaiian clothes. Just what you were thinking given this current weather pattern, right?
