Welcome wusliac1. The search has been narrowed from around 80 down to 9. The job is still open, so applications coming in will still be looked at, but we should have someone by the end of the month. Don't worry, this will one of the first places I'll post when an announcement is made.

Hoops Junkie

Are the nine left all college guys or did any HS guys make the cut?

Give us the scoop

Hey, I need to apologize to no one in particular.  For the last three years I've been spouting off all over the board that Grinnell is the closest d3 school to my home (the closest st louis school being one mile farther away).  I totally overlooked Westminster in Fulton.  (I don't count Nebraska Wesleyan because they're barely d3 anyway).  I guess I really should be more active in the SLIAC goings on.

Hoops - If you are still in KC next year, I advise you to find time to catch Westminster in Fulton, particularly against the better SLIAC teams (Webster, Fontbonne, and MacMurray).  Probably 2 - 2.5 hours from KC, and Fulton is only a short way off 70.

The Westminster Gym and building may be one of the oldest in the midwest  -  reaks of history, great pictures of years gone by in the hallways.

Good coach, and they should be pretty good next year - they have a very good player in the middle in Robert Davis, a first team all conference this past year, and a number of good 6'2", 6'3", 6'4" kids on the perimeter.

I thought they would challenge for the conference championship this year, but one or two key injuries and a number of close losses pushed them out of the conference playoffs.  If things go their way next year, they should be in the top four.

you will never pay a penny to get into a SLIAC game, at least during the regular season!!!!   And prime seating is almost always available.

I know of at least one HS coach that made the final 9. Many EC alums from glory days past are HS coaches in Illinois, so I'm sure multiple made the final cut. That is not to say that the new coach will be an EC grad, of course. Honestly, I don't know all of the names since I'm not on the search committee (thank goodness). I can say that I was impressed at the sheer quantity of applicants as well as the quality of some of the ones I have heard about. It sounds like I may have an announcement to make by late next week, but at this point I really don't know who I'll be writing about.

That was a good call EC_SID. You said about a month. I wonder how Mac's search is going.
