perhaps there is a "training period" for the new commish - I was told the old commish would be in his current position thru the school year or even thru August -  Y jack, have you been checking out SLIAC softball ?

First, just for the record, as far as I know the information I was given about the new commissioner was not given in confidence. If the person who gave me that info did not want me to have it, then he never wold have mentioned it.

From what I recall of the conversation the new commisioner begins officially on August 1st. But I also recall that there will be ongoing contact between now and then, which I suppose constitutes a "training" period.

hopefan, yes I have been keeping up on SLIAC softball. I was at the Webster-Maryville doubleheader yesterday (and I have the sunburn to prove it). Two very exciting games.

Yes, they have hired the New Commish. It should be released this week. He focused alot on making the SLIAC website more fan friendly. Future examples will be streaming audio and possible podcasts. He also is interested in bringing the conference more media coverage. Good Luck. He is younger and has alot of energy. I'll leave the rest to the release.

I can't add or call into question anything that hasn't already been said about the new commish. y_jak and fcnews, you guys probably know more about that situation than I do right now. Our representative on the search committee was very happy with the choice, but I don't know his/her name or where they came from.

Eureka SID, have you no announcement for us from Eureka?   Shouldn't we be the first to hear????? ;D ;D

I like the idea fcnews mentioned about the new commisioner wanting to get the conference more media coverage. I will say that the Post-Dispatch has been a little better this year about including more than just box scores of SLIAC games in several sports. There is still a long way to go however, not only for the P-D, but for the St. Louis media in general.

As for the SLIAC website, I don't think it's all that bad. Certainly improvements can be made. But I've seen many worse conference websites.

Actually, I was planning on not posting anything on here until about a month after the announcement because you know that's how I am  ;).

Nothing is official as yet, Hopefan. I'm sure you know how these things go. Just when you think you know how things are going to play out, something can change and you can end up being way off. I'm not saying this has or hasn't happened, but I have nothing new to report either. The fact is two worthy candidates have interviewed. Beyond that is still speculation at this point.

Now you're starting to sound like a d3 SID.  I was starting to think the job of the SID was something other than safeguarding information to such a degree that no one will ever find it.

The new commish can take a lot from Coach Mcfessel. I think Coach did an admirable job. He was seen at a lot of conference events and was always approachable.

FC has a transfer from Mizzou coming in next year. He is a 6'2 185 lb. point guard.

It appears that Webster won out on a local 6'8 player, over Wash U. and FC. He will not be an immediate impact but will develop into a pretty solid player down the road.

Can't get them all. Saw a little open gym and continue to be amazed at how far Terrance Levette has come. He will be tough to handle in the SLIAC.

I was in STL for the Conference Golf Championship and Parent's Day for softball.

FC  -  did the new transfer play HS ball in Illinois?

No Sir. He is accepted and registered all ready. But, as we know it's best to wait till next August. I will say that he is probably the best ball handler I've seen in quite some time. And, has great size for a DIII point guard.

With the Osmonds running the scorers table.
