They're having open gym in Branson now???

Come one, come all!  For fifteen bucks, Andy Williams will referee.

With the Osmonds running the scorers table.

I didn't know they had Osmonds in Branson.  I thought they all hunkered down in Utah.

I do think they are in Utah, I was just referring to the times when they were always on Andy Williams TV shows and specials.

Chip Wilde has been announced as the new basketball coach at Eureka. There is a story on our web site and on the recent headlines on the d3hoops site. It should cover all the major things, so I won't post anything further on here for now. I'll try to answer questions if there are any.

Coach Wilde sounds like a good fit for Eureka. Congratulations.

Man, I have to remember to drop by every day.  I keep forgetting and then I get so far behind!  Wowzers.  Tons going on and I'd like to respond too...  lets try to start from the top...

*MacMurray College - I wish the best for the school.  I only know it because of basketball and I hope the new administration.  They need to get things in swing because I'd imagine just in looks alone that area kids would choose Illinois College over Mac any day.  Speaking of, I'd like to make my push again to get IC in the conference to replace LC who is leaving.

*Eligibility - I think it was hope who said, if he played... then he used eligibility.  I tracked eligibility for our teams when guys were playing JV and V.  If you played a JV game, that is like a V game.  You used your time.

*Conf. Commish - I'm excited to meet the new man heading up the SLIAC.  I'd like to know if he needs any help because again, I am looking for a job and I'd love to stay in Greenville and work with the SLIAC or Greenville.

*Eureka Coach - Congrats on the new hire.  I'm sure Coach Wilde will enjoy all the sights and sounds of the SLIAC!   Get ready for a WILDe ride coach!

I think that was it, except for the crazy banter concerning Andy Williams and Branson, Mo.  I'm going to show my age old men and say I have no clue who Andy Williams is...  :-\

Greenville's HJ Long Gymnasium is coming along well.  I assisted in taking the old wooden bleachers out a few weeks ago as did about 100 of the student-athletes.  Fresh paint will be hitting the walls this week and the new bleachers and windows by July.  HJ Long is going to be even better to play in next season.

Huntingdon Head Basketball coach is the new A.D. at Maryville University. This is a good hire by MU. Coach Duckworth will bring some fresh ideas.

Rick Majerus got the St Louis job.  I wonder if he'll last more than three days this time.

Actually he lasted 5 days at USC. This is a very questionable move after 7 heart by-passes.  ???

Majerus might also be able to relax more in the Atlantic 10 Conference than if he were coaching in one of the more high profile conferences.

I think Soderburg got a bum rap, though. The timing couldn't have been worse for him. Most head coaching jobs are already filled. His son will be a senior in high school. If Soderburg gets a job outside the Saint Louis area he must decide to either move his family (meaning his son misses playing with his team for his senior season), or he will not be able to see many, if any, of his son's games.

But enough about Division 1. I'll be excited to see the remodeled HJ Long gym at Greenville next year. A new commisioner comes in August. Some of our current schools will be playing football for a SLIAC championship for the first time in 2008. Much to look forward to.

Just received next year's Maryville schedule -

1)  As always, Coach Rogers has opted for an extremely difficult schedule - the league maintains its 10 teams, so the schedule is 18 league games (3 in December) and 7 non conference.

Maryville's 7 non conference games are 2 games at the Wisconsin Platteville tourney (opponents not yet announced) , 2 games at Missouri Southern (Mo Southern and Pittsburg St), Wash U at home,  Coe College at home (Coach Rogers alma mater) , and Milwaukee School of Engineering away

2)  nice to see all league games including the Dec games follow a Wednesday - Saturday format, Wednesday Evenings at 8:00, Saturdays at 1:00 in the afternoon.

The board has grown kind of quiet -  nothing on the Mac situation, no names from FCnews, or anyone else, regarding recruiting  -  maybe it will pick up as the student athletes should be making decisions soon.  Would love to hear more about our new commish, or maybe even a greeting from him.  Coach Meckfessel - we'll miss you!!!

Eureka's non-conference slate is tougher than even last year's (another reason for Coach Bruer not to come back...just kidding  :)). Eureka opens up at the Wisc.-Whitewater tournament playing the hosts.  Road games at Elmhurst, North Park and Knox. Home games against Millikin and Dominican. It would not be too surprising to see the Red Devils enter SLIAC play at 1-6. We used to have "CCIW Week," but that has turned into "CCIW month" as North Park is also a part of the Whitewater tournament and could be a possible opponent on the 2nd day giving EC 4 games versus the CCIW.

Eureka SID  -   agreed  - good schedule  -  could be brutal with all the fresh faces Eureka will be using next year  -  I like having Knox and Dominican, as those should be competitive, but winnable games.

Where is Mac Attack? I haven't seen any releases on President, A.D., or Head Coach. Didn't they say they would soon have these people in place? I guess soon is a relative term. WU picks up Meremac C.C. player Piradowski (sp?)( Vianney), his brother is playing at Semo. It lists him as a pt. guard, but I remember him from the Fontbonne Tournament as a 6' interior player. Either way he definately will add some experience to the squad.

From the latest presidentiall search update on the Mac website, all four candidates mentioned in Mac Attacks previous posts would have concluded on campus interviews by April 18th. The post says they search committee hopes to give the Board of Trustees a recommendation before commencement, which should be very soon.
