Other than Moody Bible, who's that fourth team at the tournament?

Just a note of thanks to Commish Rich. July 13th will be his last day then off to the golf courses. The retiring Commish did a whale of a job during his tenure, and I for one am , am glad to get reaquainted with him.

Coach enjoy your retirement and thanks for everything.

I'm on sabbatical an will try to post again soon.

Congrats to MacMurray College.

Mac Attack II

The MacMurray family appreciates the encouraging words from the veteran posters on this board on the selection of Coach Creal. It means a lot. From what I hear, Coach Creal is an extremely hard worker and a very good recruiter. He's an Illinois guy with lots of Illinois contacts. He was at the Illinois College Shoot-Out today looking for kids that could help and haven't made a commitment yet. It's a late start (again), but there is still time to find one or two kids who could step and help during the 2007-2008 season (as Farrid Coleman did last season). Millikin had some pretty good first year year players last season, many of them with some size, and Coach Creal played a big part in finding and recruiting them. Hopefully it's not too late for him to find a post player (or two) to compliment what the Highlanders have coming back. Mac also graduated quite a bit of depth (Hipshir, Huff, Michels) and must replace Whalum at the point.

Hope Foggerty is OK. He's a terrific player and person. Hate to see any of our SLIAC kids sidelined.

whats going on d3 posters this is Seth Whalum from Mac, and I have been keeping up with the posts for a few years now. Since im not inside the locker rooms any longer I figured I would start doing a little posting when I had some time. Just want to say congrats to mac for hiring a head coach and hopefully he sticks around longer than three years!!

Seth, first of all, a pleasure watching you play the last couple of years, and welcome to the board as a 'regular' poster.  Your insights as a former player could add a lot to the board.

Question, I remember you mentioned you were off to grad school - is that set?  where to?

2nd, another poster, likely a student and very unhappy with Mac, threw out the rumor that Coleman and another starter other than you were not returning to Mac - any truth?   With the coaching situation up in the air, I can understand guys being uneasy and looking for alternatives, but hopefully with the naming of a new coach coming from the CCIW, it will encourage them to return.

Hope we'll continue to hear from you

Hopefan, thanks for the love , I really appreciate it!

To answer your first question about grad school, I am taking some classes online, and I am currently looking to get into juvenile probation. I am also in the middle of some police testing, I just got back from Honolulu last week.

And as far as Farrid and that other starter from my knowledge everyone said that they were returning to Mac. And having been on that end of having a 3 different coaches in my collegiate career, those guys just want consistency, when the team got the news that Coach Hettinga was leaving it was if someone had died! Everyone was just starting to feel like mac was headed in a new direction, and its like they had there hearts ripped out. Some of the players feel deceived, and they don't think its fair how coaches can up and leave. I mean when some kids pick a college its because of the coach, and when the coach leaves the player is stuck. So hopefully Coach Creal is around for a while.

I've always been surprized that Farrid didn't end up at an MIAA school -Albion, Adrian, Olivet - closer to home with other kids from Michigan.  If he comes back to Mac, it's a real sign of loyalty that could spur his teammates on.  AND, he could be the best guard in the conference along with Cartez Parker at Fontbonne (assuming Cartez plays a guard spot)

Congratulations to the proud parent!

Duck - he'll need a lot of fatherly advice, as this program finished last season at close to ground 0, dressing only 6 or 7 players and looking very disorganized and discontent.  He'll need to find some players willing to learn....
