pitbull, I would agree with you 100% that the Blackburn WBB coach did not deserve to be tossed at the time that he was.  The official had a short fuse.  I also understand what the administration is saying at Blackburn, HOWEVER, did they not see this when hiring the coach?  Also, I think it's hard to get a good read on a coach if they only have one season to work.  Some coaches come into a great program (EX: Mike Davis taking over IU and aquiring Bob Knight's talent, taking them to the 2002 Final Four in ATL.)

Quite honestly, I think Webster is a candidate for having the best non conference schedule in the country   ---  ALL d3 games, all solid teams
Hanover, Transy, Auggie, Platteville, Ill Wesleyan, MSOE, and Wash U...
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Very impressive.  Its like a who's who of the Midwest Region over the past few seasons.

Thanks. Perhaps Webster could take the old site down. Even if we change our links it won't change bookmarks or the search engines.

Webster usually does have the toughest schedule, year in year out.

News from Blackburn; We now have a new women's coach...Mike Williams...a former top assistant at D1 Chicago State, he also was an assistant at North Central College and Trinity International University.  Good Luck to Coach Williams....also the AD opening is coming down to the end with 2 candidates coming in at the end of the week, with one being named next week...As far as the old women's coach goes, "good riddance"  not a single girl liked playing for him, with many girls quitting during the season ....as far as coaching knowledge goes he never showed much, with winning just 3 games last season and not much more the year before, given he was placed in a difficult situation with being named coach 3 weeks before the season in 05-06, but his so called amazing recruits this past season ended up being a point guard who could only dribble with her left hand.  Having watched most of the women's games closely, I was embarrassed to be a part of the athletics program when he acted like he did, constantly putting the girls down and rarely complimenting any girl on anything.  It's also hard to say he is a good coach when he'd skip 2  practices a week during the season...supposedly to recruit... with that i say good luck to Coach Williams...he'll need it

For those interested: FU's coach Lee McKinney has been nominated and appointed to the NCAA Management Council. This is a three year appointment.

pantherpride06

fc, can you tell us more of what this means?  What will be be doing?  What are his roles on this council?

Division III Management Council Duties & Responsibilities

In general, the members try to do the NCAA thing - regulate, create policy, "resolve issues" etc. So its a big deal (especially if you have been reading "the future of d3" posts)

However, McKinney may be on a particular committee for an issue. (ie: Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Financial Aid Committee, Student-Athlete Reinstatement Committee, Interpretations and Legislation Committee, etc.)

fcnews

Not a committee member. One of 18 members of the council. This I believe is one step below the Presidents Committee. It was quite an honor. He has served the past four years on the nominating committee.

First meeting is in a week in Wash. D.C. let you no more then.

Mac Attack II

Good story on the new coach at MacMurray in the Jacksonville newspaper.

http://www.journal-courier.net/sports/creal_14820___article.html/team_basketball.html

Word is Mac will be getting a 6'7" D2 transfer who has already registered for classes. Also, a 6'5",240 lb post player who is close to Jerel Robertson is thinking about transfering from a juco. Don't know the names yet, but will pass them along when more is known. If Mac gets some bigs to go with what they have coming back, they could make another run at the SLIAC title. Creal has made a great impression with the returning players.

That was a great article  -  I'm anxious to meet Coach Creal somewhere along the line this season.

That article points to one of the advantages of going to/working at a small town school - the coverage in the local newspapers can be excellent, as compared to the coverage a SLIAC school in ST Louis gets from the Post Dispatch  -  and I like Coach Creal's goal of getting the town involved  - believe me, there's nothing more fun than coming into a full gym loaded with students and towns folk  -  and it does happen at the D3 level - I've seen it at Hope, and I've seen it at Stevens Point.  Again, it will never happen at Fontbonne, Webster, Maryville, but with a push in the right direction, Mac, Westminster, Eureka, Greenville could be filling their places.

Very nice article, indeed. Sounds like Mac is in good hands. November can't come soon enough.

Just a little report on Brian Fogerty's knee.
Surgery really wasn't an option . It needed  rest and some therapy to heel some minor tears of the patella tendon ( over the knee cap ). Therapy is done and he has been steady in the gym this summer. He says he's got his "hops " back. He has played in several summer league games.
About the European trip. He thought maybe he would still be sidelined and didn't wish to go if he didn't play. No bench sitter.
I heard about the " GAME " against MO. Bap. Brandon Bishop is a old EMO Conference High School Foe of Brian's. Great player but could use an attitude adjustment. Boys he's ready to go.
I can't wait for this one coming up.
