I need to also ask a couple questions.
I heard Trevor White was in a 4 wheeler crash this summer ?
What's the skinny on that ?
Is Fontbonne going to have a non-conference game against SLU ?
Is Hannibal-La Grange going to be at this year's Moody Bible Tournament ?
What's ther bench looking like with recruits ?
Is Patrick McCoy going to be moved into a solid #2 position and Cortez Parker going to be the point ?

Some Summer League News:
FU defeated WC by 8 to move on and face McKendree in the Finals next Thursday Night.

FU was down by 18 pts late in the first half. Fogerty led all scorers. Dressler pitched in with 15 pts.(his best showing yet) and Levette and Parker added scoring. McCoy hit a couple big 3's to ice it.

To answer a couple of FUfans questions.
1. White is completely recovered.
2. It seems SLU's new coaching staff has backed out for this coming season.
3. No Hannibal is noy in the Big Four Classic.
4. Bench should be alot stronger. Levette will be tough to keep on the bench and Dressler will see minutes inside. With last years starting guards returning you'll have Rapp, Parker, Fournie and a 6'3 transfer who played at Chaminade looking for time at the guard spots. Two freshmen swing players may help.
5. Parker is capable of being the best point in the SLIAC. The question is will he accept the role. He has scored well this summer playing without the ball. He could also contribute at the 3 when White needs a blow.

Mac Attack II

In the for what it's worth department, I like MacMurray's schedule down the stretch. Three of their last four are at home, including Webster, Maryville, and Blackburn. Also like the fact that Mac goes to Fontontbonne, Greenville, and Webster first. All three come to Mac in the second half, just as they did last season. I would think they would flip-flopped the schedules from the previous season, but they didn't. Nice to see all of the SLIAC games on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Lot easier to plan ahead. Look for Illinois College to be back on Mac's schedule for the 2008-2009 season.

Anyone ever been to Adrian, Michigan. Wonder how far a drive that is from central Illinois, and what kind of place it is - hopefan might know.

As I think I mentioned earlier, Mac's non-conference schedule includes the Adrian College Tip-Off Tournament, at Elmhurst, Robert Morris-Springfield (2X), Lakeland College, and Millikin. Nice to see Mac stick with a full schedule, after earlier suggestions they might cut back. The Highlanders will travel on charter buses this season, which is a step up.

Not sure where in Central IL to map from but it's a little over seven hours from Jacksonville.

Thanks, Pat. Probably can make it one day. Stay two nights and head back. Should be fun.

Would traveling via Indianapolis be faster than going thru Chicago traffic?

You know it wouldn't hurt SLU to play at least some of locals. Their own brand of basketball hasn't been overly great lately. They are in a conference that makes for zero fan rivalries. Whose going to pay for the new house unless you get folks coming. Maybe they are afraid they might get beat by some of the local Div.III or II teams.
Do you think ?

FU fan  -  as much as I'd like to think an FU or Webster or Maryville could compete with a "down" SLU, in reality, the talent gap is just too great for that to happen.  Maryville played them two years ago with a very good team and got hammered (though the score was not as bad as the beating they took).  SLU gave Maryville, and was going to give Fontbonne, the chance to play 1 night on the big stage, in front of 5 or 6 thousand.  A thrill, a night to remember for the D3 kids, a good workout for the D1 kids.

I'll also mention that SLU has played UMSL in recent years - again, lopsided.
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

I think Indy would the way to go over. Straight over and head north through Fort Wayne.

Mac - amazingly enough, circumstance, weather, Adrian being non competitve, distance - in 10 years of seeing virtually all other Hope games, I never went to Adrian   -  used to drive right by it on the way to visit family in Pittsburgh however.   Adrian is mid level MIAA, meaning they would normally be very competitve with the better teams in the SLIAC.   After that long trip, Mac will have their hands full  -  and make no mistake, check the weather forecast!!!!

FC Fan,
Is Eric Palm playing for the summer team?
I'd really like to agree with you,but then we both would be wrong........

fcnews

I've inquired about Eric Palm. He has played a least one game with the Mckendree squad. My quess would be that both FU and McK will try to put their best available on the floor next Thursday night. Work committments I know have hampered several of the Griffin's, ie: Trevor White and Zach Dill.

FU's own Scott Porter will be opening for several acts coming to Blueberry Hill in STL. He opened recently for American Idol's Taylor Hicks. The kid is quite talented. Brian Fogerty, an excellent drummer, appears frequently with his band in the area night spots.

I ran into Dave Porter, Scott Porter's dad  -  needless to say the family is just ecstatic about Scott's sudden success in the music business - FC, if you happen to hear any dates on Scott's appearances, private email me - I would love to go down to hear him perform.

Per the above two posts, Scott Porter is appearing tonight at 9:00 at Blueberry Hill as a "prelim" (is that the right word in the music business?) for Corey Smith (the headliner).  Best of luck to Scott, and family...  I may try to get there.

Brian Fogerty tells me Scott Porter has some interest from someone about some movie sound track work. I've not heard him say in awhile  how that's going. Brian's band is MISTER STRANGE. You can hear them in several spots around. Pops, Ten Mile House, and others. Porter and Fogerty made about $50 bucks on the Loop one night with a guitar and a Basketball drum.I think Scott does have a my space page.
