I feel like asking TQ above, "the IWU JV, or the Varsity?"   because:

Just today, In the CCIW Room a poster Milikin33 wrote : " CCIW  JV teams are probably as talented as schools like Eureka or Blackburn or MacMurrays varsity teams"

The statement seemed to be a blanket statement....  I respectfully am inclined to disagree, unless we are talking a very down year SLIAC team against a JV CCIW team that was loaded at the varsity level and kept great potential down on the JV for development opportunity..

Any thoughts?

The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

I don't agree with anything Millikin33 said in that CCIW Chat post, including the statement you quoted here.   The fact that he said, of CCIW JV play, "these are Division 3 players that cant even play on varsity at their d3 so its not like there is great talent on the floor", make me think he doesn't know what he's talking about.  The CCIW has had JV players like Keelan Amelianovich (IWU), Rick Harrigan (Augustana), Brent Niebrugge (IWU), and Chris Simich (IWU) - All-Americans - in the last 15 years.  Not to mention all of the other good varsity players that have come through the JV ranks over the years.

As a blanket statement; Millikin33 is dead wrong in my opinion.

Long Distance Traveler

Webster scrimmaged both Lindenwood an Meramec last Saturday. My source informed me that both games were close, Webster lost both but by less than 10 points in each game.  A lot of players saw playing time.  Too many turnovers in both games.  The search continues for that "point guard" to emerge.  Only 18 days left to the season opener.

Thanks for the welcome Hope.  I most likely won't make many games but I'll try to keep up with this and be the WC guy.

I appreciate the clarification from BeastMaster about Coach Creal's departure from Millikin.

Ring Ding Dong... I'm back from the dead...  little Halloween laughter for you there. :)

I've heard some here and there from the Panther Camp.  Obviously things with Antonio Conquest did not work out and we are minus him as has previously been reported.  However, we have added 6-2/200lb guard/forward from Jefferson City, Mo by the name of Terrance Cosby.  He played soccer last year but decided to lace them up for a little college basketball.  I think he has a decent high school basketball background but from 2300 miles away, I'm not sure.  I'll work on my GC Sources to keep up to date with what's going on.

I'll continue to use we when talking about Greenville so it's not to confuse anyone like it has me the last three months.. :)  We had our Alumni Scrimmage this past weekend and from what I hear, it went well.  All of the JV and Varsity players saw some playing time.  Not sure how the scoring went but highlights all around for the 07-08 version of the Panthers.

Mac split there two halves with Lewis & Clark tonight.  Mac won the first half 30-29 and lost the 2nd by like 8.  Lewis & Clark is a tough athletic juco that has had almost a month of practice.  It was sloppy but  not all that bad from the Highlanders.

BeastMaster,

How did the big man in the middle play for Mac?  That is a pretty good effort for Mac taking into consideration that they have only been practicing for two weeks and Lewis and Clark has been practicing for almost a month.  Looks like Creal is headed down the right path.

BeastMaster

I believe the big man is currently hurt.  I have heard that the 6'7" 290 is not quite accurate.  I heard more like 6'5" 330 and needs to get into better shape.  He is very skilled and can contribute, but I don't know how many minutes he'll be able to play right now.  There is no doubt in my mind that Coach Todd "The Real Deal ShaCreal O'Neal" will get the Highlanders going this season and have a great freshman class next year.  If he can recruit kids to MacMurray's campus, I think he has a bright future ahead as a bigtime recruiter.

FCNEWS - can you give us a scouting report on the upcoming matchup against Moody Bible? Maybe you'll break 100 points against them this year! Are you worried about putting your 4 game win streak against them on the line?

All of those cupcakes on the schedule I hope you guys don't get too out of shape before conference really gets going.

"Todd "The Real Deal ShaCreal O'Neal?"  I like the title.  However I go with King Creal.

He laughs last still has to play the Bears soon. I think the spread maybe a little less than expected.

Listened to much of the Westminster/Western Illinois exhibition game played in Macomb.  Western Illinois is coming off a disappointing year but looks to have a better year this year.  The final score was 67-46 in favor of WIU.  Both teams started off pretty slow and sloppy with WC committing too many turnovers (21 overall) but kept it fairly close in the first half, down 5 at half.

The game never got out of hand as WIU stretched the score in the second and kept the lead around 15-20 most of the way.

Nurse for WIU had 27 and looks to be a great player for them, hard worker, great free throw shooter, no turnovers.
Bad news for the Leathernecks, lost frosh Clark to a knee injury.

Some WC stats (not official): outrebounded 22-25, 38% fg, 2-9 3 pt, 67% FT
Buxton 9 pts 3 boards
Kurz 5 pts
Warncke 5 boards
House 1 pt 5 boards
kovach 9pts
kuschel 6 pts
crawford 5 pts
sodemann 4 pts
cochran 2 pts

WC returns three starters and many letterwinners.  Some names off the bench with quality time included Kuschel, Millard, Sodemann, and 6'4" fr. Kurt Kovach.
