6'5 300 pound athletic post player?? what is the definition of athletic here??  I can't believe anyone 6'5 and 300 lbs is gonna be athletic, and if he was, no offense, but why is he at Mac, or in the SLIAC at all...anyone that size with athleticism would most likely be somewhere more elite then the SLIAC, or playing football...
A bit on BC.....they won't be having any scrimmages this year so their first in-game experience will be at Mo-Rolla, which will be a very tough test for a team that lost a 1st team all-conference player, and a former POY from last years team. Even though I have heard that Rolla is not a great team, anytime you start off the season with a D2 school, it will be tough for a team full of questions.

IWUMichigander - no, wrong - the system coach was not there last year

It's my understanding that MacMurray dropped its version of the Grinnell system after the 2004-05 season. The drastic downturn in the Highlanders' scoring (and points allowed) would seem to indicate that.

I posted this picture of Travis Albright in this room two weeks ago:

That's what he looked like during the 2003-04 season, his senior year at Danville High School. I'd say that he was about 6'5, 215 in that picture ... maybe 220 at the most.

He was enrolled at Illinois Valley Community College for the 2005-06 season and was supposed to play for the Eagles, but since MacMurray lists Albright as a freshman he obviously never dressed for an IVCC game.

Both the guys in that picture, which is now nearly 4 years old, look pretty mature for high school kids.

If Deep Six has seen Albright, and I assume he must have, and says he weighs 300 pounds, then I'll accept that description until I see the guy myself.

FONTBONNE UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES "PAD YOUR SCHEDULE CLASSIC" FOR 2008-2009 SEASON

St. Louis, MO - November 5, 2008 - The Fontbonne University Griffins will host the first ever "Pad Your Schedule Classic" to kick off the 2008-2009 season. The Tournament will feature an 8 team field and will be played in Fontbonne's Mabee Gymnasium.

The University has received commitments from several reputable programs including Concordia Seminary, Moody Bible, and Webster Groves High School. In addition to Fontbonne's presence, perhaps the biggest news is St. Louis Christian College returning to the Griffin's schedule after a short 3 year hiatus. "We were looking for another team that met the goals and needs of the Classic," said Coach McKinney. "We are excited that St. Louis Christian has agreed to be a part of the tournament this year." Fontbonne has a rich history of success against St. Louis Christian. FU has outscored them by more than 100 points over their last two meetings.

FU has not received commitments for the remaining three slots; however, Central Christian College of the Bible, the Missouri School for the Blind, and the Washington University women's squad are all in discussions/negotiations with Fontbonne.

Fontbonne University is a co-ed Catholic Liberal Arts University in St. Louis, MO. The Fontbonne Griffin athletic teams participate in NCAA Division III sports and are members of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. For more information, please see www.fontbonne.edu and www.sliac.org.

Hows everybody doin this year?
Alhtough I will still be following BC basketball, along with a roommate who is the new student SID Crew head and asst. Basketball Coach, I have released of my position at BC as Student SID crew head at the beginning of this semester. Although im kinda outta the loop now, I would like to hear the opinoins everyone has of BC's new squad and administration. I personally believe the program is being run into the ground, which could be stated about every BC sport, this would be the third Director of athletics in three years here folks, as well as the Dir. of Ath. being the head mens basketball coach. Frasier and Neal have been the only retaining Ath. staff over a three year period here, c' mon. They get rid of Ramsey, hire a head football coach that ran his last program into the ground, Baker sadly retired, and expect their AD to play double duty as the mens BBall coach, whats going on here?

haha just aother reason im proud to be a griffin!

Beaver SID - I was a big fan of Coach Ramsey. It's hard to say much about the Beavers, considering they still have not posted a roster.

Quote from: Deep Six on November 07, 2007, 04:02:08 PMThe other two freshmen are posts Bryan Casad who is a threat in the post and on the perimeter as well and Travis Albright who is a 6'5 300 lb athletic post player.

Albright may be naturally athletic (I have no idea), but in his current shape he is a non-factor.  He is terribly overweight and could only play for stretches of 2-3 minutes in the IWU scrimmage before getting gassed.  (I will say that he seems to have nice shooting touch though.)

I'd dial down the hype on Travis Albright until he gets in some kind of basketball shape.

I like that little left handed guard that comes off the bench - Polston.  Good player.

Blackburn has put up their roster... quite a difference in age on the team, 5 seniors, 8 freshman, 2 juniors and a sophomore.  Looks like their season will depend on how soon their freshman can become a factor in games.  They do have some actually size this year, with a 6'6 and a 6'7 kid, both with some weight to them, this gives them something they havent had in the last few years, size in the paint.  If the big men can defend and rebound, and if they can find a couple scorers, BC may develop into a team to contend for the SLIAC tourney, and we know anyone can make nationals as long as long they make the con. tourney

The Red Devils had their final tune up before they start playing for keeps Friday. It was good to see McComb back running the attack. Obviously, the offense is still a work in progress with a change in coach and all.

The number 1 thing I took away from watching them is my concerns about post defense were eased to some degree. Zasada is going to be a force on the backboard just like he was last year, but Beecher should be able to hold his own defensively against most SLIAC opponents.

This is a team that averaged over 74 points a game last season, but won just once when scoring less than 70 (EC beat Millikin 68-62). We're probably going to need to squeak out a few W's somehow when scoring less than that this year to make up for the lost offensive punch. It'll be a tough assignment right out of the gates at Whitewater, but I'm excited the season is about to begin anyway.

The Gorloks are just a few days away from opening the 2007-2008 season.  The team is probably going to without Steve Hrdlicka; however, the remainder of the team is healthy and ready to go.  Needless to say, the early part of the season is going to be especially challenging.  Thus, it will be interesting to see how the team grows and develops during this stretch of the season.  I am looking forward to another season and what hopes to be a conference championship team!  It will be tough, but the Gorloks certainly have the talent to do it.
