Also inclined to agree - two close games against programs that aren't there for much more than recreation doesn't match up with Greenville's supposed strong performance vs North Central.  And yet, they have names familiar to most of us in the box score.  I have to think that size is still a major problem, and perhaps lack of a go to guy with Conquest gone.

In the mean time, what a great move for Panther Pride - working with Puget Sound, who remains undefeated in the Great Northwest!!

Ok SLIAC'ers we get a chance to get a much needed win against the Big Brothers Conference. Let's go Gorlock's.

It's a shame that RM Spring could not be coerced to play Fontbonne this weekend  -  seems like a long time since the Griffs won ugly vs Rose Hulman -  They really needed a game this weekend to prep for the big game with Webster on Wednesday  -  Rest is good, but too much of it can lead to a loss of game readiness....  Hopefully the coaching staff and senior leadership can keep the troops focused....

In regards to Greenville:  I agree.  I scratched my head when I saw the five point wins AT HOME v. Logan and Concordia (Mo.).  However, when thinking about my past five years at Greenville, we tend to play to the level of our opponents.  That's also the word out of Greenville that the ball club played at Logan/Concordia (Mo.) level.  Playing Lincoln Christian isn't going to assist too much getting ready for the SLIAC this week.  They open play with Westminster (Mo.) which has had a big win v. Rhodes.  Matt Mitchell rarely has a bad game v. Greenville.  The series has been split in the last eight games, however Westminster has won three of the last four.  Hopefully we can get started hot like last year and continue that streak and not hit a wall like mid-January of 07.

As for Puget Sound:  The boys here are definitely playing tough.  A different level of basketball than the SLIAC.  We are 5-0 (Including a win over UW-Stout and NCAA II Bemidji State).  They are also ranked #12 in the nation.  Fun style of basketball which I've talked with fcnews about.  They also play NCAA II Cal State Stanislaus this Saturday.  It should be another great game.  We'll see what happens!

IWU wins 82-69. How long will Hoggatt be out?
Millikin 82 Mac 59

On the scheduling of the FU v. RMC-S game. FU coach Lee McKinney had to fly out this morning to Philadelphia, PA. to meet with regional NCAA AD's as a reprensitive of the NCAA Management Council.

A game before the WU meeting would have been nice. Personally, I think we would rather meet RMC-S with Lee healthy. A better test for our big men.

Sounded like Niebrugge and Hrdlicka had good games. Turk started to hit in the second half. But, one starter did not score and Paradoski, Whitcomb and Jungk all played double digit minutes with combined 3 pts. And, where is the real Kuhn? I'm sure we will see him step up for the conference opener wednesday nite.

With Hoggatt out, Webster got out rebounded by what appears to be a smaller squad and gave up a high percentage of goals from IWU's interior players. Hopefan had questions about FU's depth. Depth is as only good as the score indicates. If Darrin can walk I suspect we will see him give his best effort Wrdnesday night.

IWU's 3 low post players went 17-23 from the field with 17 rebounds (6-5/230 Brett Chamernik 9-11 & 5 reb., 6-7/210 Doug Sexauer 7-9 & 5 reb., and 6-4/210 Darius Gant 1-3 & 7 reb.).  Chamernik is undersized height-wise, but he's a horse...Gant is an extremely athletic 6-4 kid.  Sexauer is a tall, thin freshman.

The Titans made 25 2-point baskets and just 3 3's...Webster made just 17 2-point field goals and 9 3-pointers.

Thanks for your work Titan Q. Very good job calling the game. A little confusing because the live stats were about  mins. behind your call. Otherwise first rate production.

One question: What does the Shirk Ctr. look like with 650 in the stands.

Gville_Panther - Can you enlighten me on the status of Matt Reeb?

Gville_Panther

Matt has been at practices for about a week. He was playing soccer for GC and they just finished up at nationals. He hasn't been played in a game yet and there is no official word about whether he will be on Varsity or JV.
When I find out more, I will let you know.

Wow, check the time of eureka_sid's post. Must have been out late partying. My excuse is that I'm an old guy who had too much caffeine and can't sleep.

As for the question from fcnews about the reason for the time change of the game between Webster & Wash U on Jan 7th, it apparently has nothing to do with a presidential debate, as far as I can determine. Jan 7th is right during that time period when the party primaries are starting to heat up, so the debates between the candidates from each party will likely be finished.

Wash U is, however, is going to host a debate between the Democratic and Republican nominees for vice-president on October 2nd, 2008.

"Washington U. to host 2008 VP debate - St. Louis Business Journal:Washington University in St. Louis will host the 2008 vice presidential debate to be held Oct. 2, 2008, the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) ..."

I've operated on Hawaiian time for several years now.  It definitely paid off last night (err 2 days ago...you know what I mean) as my Rainbow Warriors shot down U-Dub to polish off the perfect reg. season. Game ended around 2:20 am, but it only felt like 10:20.

Tonight? I've just got a Sugar buzz  ;) ;D
