No Problem Y_Jak. Am looking for visitors coming in from Salem, MO. this week and wanted to let fans know the schedule.

FU Fan

After Saturday's game against Mac I wanted to say that this team of theirs looks to be good in the future. They don't give up. They didn't make a lot really bad mistakes they were just over run at this time.
Fontbonne a lot less bad outside shots. A  more solid defense. They do need to let the referees know when they are in the air headed for the bucket that it is a shot not a pass. ( What a bad call ! )
Fontbonne needs neither one of the last 2 games to effect their heads. Go out and play the game. Any given day-------------

Quote from: pantherpride06 on December 09, 2007, 01:10:00 AMAs has been the trouble in the past, the Panthers have no real post presence.  Ellis (18 pts, 8 reb) had a good day down low.  But at 6-3 / 239, I'm not sure he's going to be able to bump with the big men of the SLIAC.

LaPhonso, Sr. goes 6'8, 240, or at least he did in his NBA playing days. Looks like Junior rolled snake eyes in the DNA craps game.

Damn, that's kind of harsh don't you think?  There are some things you don't joke around about.

Old Sager.  At it again.  ???

6'3", 239 or 6'8", 240.  LaPhonso Ellis Jr. is one hell of a ball player.  He may be five inches shorter, but he is doing a great job as a sophomore for the Panthers.  12 ppg, 5.7 rpg.

Don't count him out.  Not great to poke fun at a collegiate player such as you did Sager.

Who's trying to "poke fun" at him or is "counting him out"? For crying out loud, all I said was that it's a shame that he doesn't have his dad's size. It's hardly a comment upon his basketball abilities at all. The D3 world is full of great players who are 6'3 or smaller.

Grow a thicker skin, Pride, and stop trying to interpret every post as a shot at your alma mater.

Height is something that you don't joke about? Tell that to Mickey Rooney. :D

He's five inches shorter than his dad. You'd think that I committed a felony or something just by pointing that out. ::)

This exact same conversation took place in CCIW Chat today, only it was Jack Sikma's son (who plays for the University of Portland) whom it was noticed is smaller than his father. You didn't see anyone getting all bent out of shape about someone pointing out that father-son discrepancy.

I'm not starting another debate with you this season.  All i was doing was backing up my boy LaPhonso.  Secondly, I don't "interpret every post as a shot at [my] alma mater."  I have thicker skin than most.  Especially with my times on these message boards no only in the sports realm but in other life endeavors of mine.

Yeah, haha funny funny not meaning anything.  But the kids do read it and some do take offense.  Not that LaPhonso did.  I just know these guys on a personal level.  Sometimes the comparison to a star father or the lack of being what their dad is gets old.  That's all I'm saying.  Again, I know these things because of my personal relationships with the kids at Greenville.

For someone who says he's not thin-skinned, you have a pronounced tendency to jump in and assume an insult where none was intended. That's all I'm saying.

The obvious difference being Mickey Rooney made fun of himself being short, not others. Nice job using a reference that hasn't been relevant in either Panther's nor my lifetime.  ;D

Turning back to basketball, what do you suppose Eureka's chances are against Millikin Tuesday? I'm guessing MU will be out for revenge after dropping a game at home to EC last year. I'm expecting a game decided in the last minute.

Hey, Mickey's still alive and kicking. His height is still relevant to him.

I haven't seen the Big Blue yet this season, but they're a team that is definitely under construction. The two starters that were supposed to return from last season's 9-16 squad are both in school, but neither is on the team -- one because he didn't want to play, the other because by oversight he signed up for a class schedule that was one hour short of eligibility. They're on the small side, and they have a lot of players seeing minutes -- ten guys are averaging double-figure minutes for Millikin, only three of whom saw substantial time for the Big Blue varsity last year. In spite of all that, the Big Blue have started the year 4-1, albeit against a somewhat weak schedule.

Sounds to me like a contest in which the homestanding Red Devils might have a shot if they're on the top of their game. It would certainly be a feather in Eureka's cap.

Thanks FC for reminding about the RMS game - had forgotten all about the makeup as it was not on the regular schedule.   Do we know whether the "good kid" who had missed sveral games for them will be playing?
