Received word that the Saintscast should be back up and running today.  If anyone wants to tune in, here's the link.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will work the rest of the season.

Greenville scores the upset win over Westminster
Hopefan standings now:

for 1st thru 3rd:
Webster  +1   (win at Fontbonne)
Westmin  -1  (loss at Greenville)
Fontbonne  -1  (loss at home to Webster)

for 4th
Greenville + 1  (win over Westmin)
Maryville 0
Eureka 0

HUGE win for Greenville
2 last second losses losses for Wesminster in a row, with Webster coming to Fulton on Wednesday

Evidently controversial final call at Greenville - Buxton hoop for lead at end ruled no good when a charge is called...  please correct me though if I heard wrong.....

pantherpride, were the students back at Greenville for today's game? That certainly could have given the Panthers a lift. As others have said, it's the best student support of any school in the conference.

Props to FU's Brian Fogerty who went over the 1000 point mark in todays win at Mac. Great to see some familar faces today in the Alumni game at Mac.

Yes, students were back on campus as of this past Tuesday. (Funny how I know this from 2,200 miles away)

And, I'd agree that the crowd probably assisted big time in today's win v. Westminster.  I haven't had time to dabble in the box score yet due to my travels today.  I'll try to put my post-game thoughts (from the stats) up tomorrow.

Fontbonne beats Mac by 19. Margin was 11 in the first half and 8 in the second half. Long, Compton, and Polston all played well for Mac, but it wasn't enough. Mac just not deep enough or talented enough this year. Branch and Fogerty each had 24 for Fontbonne. Branch played 34 minutes and Fogerty 31 minutes in a 19 point win. Mac was 12-33 from the arc. That's a lot of 3 pt shots, but without an inside presence, Mac has to take what it can get. One technical in the game - Fogerty.

Gem - in trying to keep FC from getting all upset again, I'll reply to your comments on the game

Not sure why either the minutes of Fogerty and Branch or the technical bear mentioning in the tone that I take them (ie is there an insinuation that Branch and Fogerty didn't need to play those minutes?  and who cares about a technical unless it played a crucial part in the game?)

But don't say there was one technical in the game when there were two - the box score shows Mac's Martinez also picking one up...

Gem Shooz - Understated the game that Mac's Polston, Compton and Long had. These three combined to go 12-26 from behind the arc. And when I say behind I mean behind. I know Long had a couple that had to be from at least from 27'. The three combined for 58 of MC's 67 points. MC shot 36.5% from 3's, but only 32% from the field for the game.

FU was lead by Fogerty's 24 pts (10-18) and 10 rebounds and 5 assists, Brian's first bucket of the 2nd half marked his 1000th career point. Branch's 24 (9-16, 5-11) included 6 rebounds and 5 assists. John Dressler added 13 and 7, Storandt 9 and 10, Abozen added 9 pts. on 2-3 from behind the arc.

Hopefan - You missed a trip to meet some of MC's past stars. Suttles, Bryant, Renfro and D.J. Derek James just to name a few.

My mistake - there were two techs in the Mac-Fontbonne game. Martinez had one for Mac. I think he played about 2 minutes.

From what I've seen, Fontbonne clearly is the #1 team in the SLIAC. They should run the table. Upsets can and will happen, but FC should emerge as the #1 team in the conference and post season.

Looking down the road, is it too early to see who is coming back in 2008-2009?

Hope - Martinez's was for dunking in warm up's and Fogerty's was for saying " Are you kidding", when FU's asst. coach asked for a reason for the " T ", After the explanation, his response was "Are you kidding me". A pretty cheap one for a kid who has made a 180 in his on court persona. I didn't even see the dunk and FU's coaches weren't aware of it till just before starting line up introductions.

Speaking of minutes, FU had 8 in double didgits. Fogerty (31), Branch (34), Storandt (25), Rapp (20), Fournie (19), Sheetz (19), Abozen (17) and Dressler (16). FU also rested McCoy.

If the question was, did FU play Fogerty (31) to get his 1000th, he got it on the first bucket of the 2nd half.

On the question of returning. FU will lose Fournie and Dressler this year.

hopefan

Fontbonne will be such a big favorite next year - with Fogarty, Branch, McKoy, and Storandt back - ALL potential ALL SLIAC players this year,  barring injury  -

Fournie will be missed as he can guard people bigger than him with his strength -  Rapp is not an equal replacement.

Of course if White or Parker come back   -  Good Grief!!!!!!

It's my hope as a fan, that Fontbonne works up their schedule so we can see Fontbonne be tested by some high calibre teams - the Grinnell matchup will be worth some laughs, but I'd love to see a CCIW team or Wisconsin team come in....

And I also hear tell that Font is happy with a couple of recruits....

Fontbonne signs another contract for 08-09 season. The Griffin's have added Chaminade on the Big Island. It will be Dec. 30.

Grinnell @ Home
Wash U @ Wash U
RHIT @ RHIT
Chaminade @ Chaminade

FU and Wheaton could not reach a date for 08-09. They will start a home and home in 09-10. I do know RMC-S is on the schedule. RMC-S is 6-3 against DIII's, with wins over North Park, UT-D, Schriener and OT loss to RHIT.

Hawaii-Hilo may be another addition. That's all I'm aware of at this moment.

A technical for dunking in warm ups?? I see guys do what I think are dunks all the time in warm ups. At least they have their hand above the rim and put the ball through the hoop wuth a bit of force. These aren't necessarily two handed, high flying, 180 or 360 monster dunks, but it begs the question of what constitutes a dunk.
