And I agree with Gem Shooz that Fontbonne should be the favorite as the SLIAC season enters its second half -- and an even bigger favorite next year.

Yjak - The rule states no dunking in warm ups. You see dunks. But, never when the officials are on the floor. The crew usually comes out at the 15 minute mark. It was the first " T " for dunking I have seen. The rule was put in place to avoid a situation where a backboard would be broke prior to the game.

My interpretation of the rules are, no dunking during the "official warm-up."  That mean, when there is 20 minutes or less on the clock, of if the officials are out there.  If an official sees you dunk, then it's suppose to be an automatic technical.  I'll look for clarification on that rule.

Thanks Pride. Further news from GC v. WC game. Buxton's charge was called with 3 seconds on the game clock. WC then fouled and GC hit the ft's for the final margin of victory.

Per the NCAA Rulebook:

Rule 10.3.14

the game or during any intermission until jurisdiction of the officials has
ended. This applies to all squad members. (Women) Dunking or attempting
to dunk a dead ball during the game. This applies to all squad members.

Section 4. Penalty for Indirect Technical Fouls
Art. 1. The penalty for an indirect technical foul shall be two free throws
awarded to a player of the offended team. The ball shall be put back in play
at the point of interruption.

As mentioned earlier, Saturday's schedule is rather anti-climactic after the crucial games that were played this past Wednesday  -  but no team can afford to assume victory.  We are overdue for an upset!!

Westmin SHOULD win at Greenville.

Greenville 76 Westminister 73

Greenville pulled out the win yesterday despite what should have happened! LaPhonso Ellis had a big game with 21 points, I think his first 20pt game for this season. He played solid all-around and had one of his best games all season. Followed by freshman Ben Cochran who hit a crucial 3 from way out near the end of the game to fuel the Greenville momentum. Chris Simmons and Ben Hensold also had big games and were key to the win.

Greenville did have huge fan support and had the crowd on their feet cheering at the end of the game!

But, overall a much different Greenville team came to play on Saturday then in the past week. The guys came out ready and took the lead early instead of like in the Eureka game and many past games were they have been down 10 in the first 10 minutes and had to fight just to stay in the game. It seemed like there wasn't as much frustration within the team and they played the best I have seen them play as a team all season long. Hopefully this will carry into their next 2 home games: a non-conference game against St Louis Christian and another big home game Wednesday against #2 ranked Fontbonne.

G_Panther - Every FU @ GC game is the best entertaiment in sports. Pride and I have been through some doozies. FU players love the atmosphere the game is played in. We'll see ya Wednesday night.

Greenville d. Westminster (Mo.) 76-73

Well, when I got the text message about the score, I was standing in the Indianapolis Airport thrilled to death.  Good job to the Panthers for a job well done.  Very impressed when looking at the box score from the game.

LaPhonso Ellis had a big night with 21 points.  Congrats to him on his first 20 pt. game of the season and fourth of the his collegiate career.  Big nights as well from the Big Ben Connection and Christopher Simmons.  All three with good shooting nights and big numbers.  The team shot .517 from the field and .474 from three point range.  Free Throw Pct is still a bit of a struggle, but this sort of game is a normal game for the Panthers.  This is the type of night Greenville needs the rest of the season.  Big shoutout for Simmons on getting back on pace.  He was on a little rut and I hope this breaks that ice.

Final Non-Conference game with St. Louis Christian on Monday night before the Panthers cap off their mini-NBA schedule with three games in six nights with the biggest rival in Fontbonne.  As mentioned before, we have seen some classic games between the squads including a total of four overtimes in two different games a few years ago and consistently scoring plus 100 for both teams.

The fcnews / pantherpride friendship is on hold until Thursday so I can mentally prepare! :) lol (kidding)

Go Greenville.  We'll see if I can fire campus up from 2000 miles away.

Eureka 69, Principia 54

This was a double digit game the entire 2nd half, though the play got a bit ragged after halftime.  The Red Devils played very well in the 1st half. That is the kind of focus that is needed on the road no matter who you are playing. The obvious thing that sticks out from the stats is Kyle Johnson of Prin going 1-for-18. It didn't seem like he took that many shots, but EC did defense him well. Prin needs more outside shooters to be a more dangerous match up.

The EC starters are really clicking now. Zasada was the standout stats-wise with 18 and 15. It's great to have someone on the team that can put up those numbers without needing the ball all the time (he only had 7 field goal attempts).

EC plays at Lincoln Christian Wed. before the big showdown vs. Maryville. From looking at scores, LCC has been competitive in most games and beat Prin on the road. Last year, EC escaped Lincoln with a 4 point win, so this game should not be overlooked.

HUGE games this Wednesday  Fontbonne @ Greenville, Webster @ Westmin.   Also Mac @ Blackburn, and Maryville @ Prin on Tuesday.

Remember, Greenville now holds the advantage over Maryville and Eureka for the 4th playoff spot, no matter what today's standings say...

IF Greenville were to upset Fontbonne, there advantage would turn to a +2 over Maryville and Eureka - a very big lead!!!!
And can Westminster recover from their 2 last second road losses of last week to give Webster its first SLIAC loss??   If Webster were to win at Westmin, they would be + 3 over Fontbonne and looking good for the host's role come tourney time.

Maryville had to play a completely different style vs BC with all the personnel losses on Saturday  -  hopefully Buechle, McKoy, Goodwin and others will be recovered and no one else goes down....  it's never safe to assume victory up at Prin

And Mac has a chance to get their first D3 win for Coach Creol at BC...

Hopefan standings
for first through third  (These teams must beat teams 4-9 and win at home vs teams 1-3)
Webster  +1  (win at Fontbonne)
Fontbonne  -1 (loss at home to Webster)
Westminster -1 (loss at Greenville)

for 4th
Greenville  +1 (win at home over Westmin)
Maryville 0
Eureka  0
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Fontbonne clearly is the #1 team in the SLIAC.

You may think that, but I am not sure how you can use the word "clearly" in stating this opinion, since Webster is in first place right now and undefeated in conference, including beating Fontbonne decisively. There is nothing "clear" at all about it.

Gem Shooz is new to the board, hopefan. Just a Mac and SLIAC fan like the rest of you.

Interesting claim, considering this.
