ALRIGHT!  Let the young gun stop the madness.

Let's look to Saturday.  What are the predictions?  We have the following contest...

Maryville (Mo) at Greenville
Principia at Lincoln Christian

What are your thoughts on the upcoming games?

Howdy Pride - Here we go.

GC over MU - Great shooting team wins this one. And it may not even be close.
PC @ LCC - Who cares
WU over BC - in a walk
WC over Mac - The Bluejays get a chance to right the ship.
EC @ FU - This one scares the **** out of me. Bounce back game for Griffins and EC is fighting for there tourney life.

The Webster - Fontbonne game was one of the best I have ever seen. What did you guys make of the WU play-by-play team if you happened to catch the game online?

I look forward to seeing Fontbonne and Webster face off again in the SLIAC Tournament.

I just checked the new Webster athletic website and saw the clip that NBC Channel 5 (St. Louis station) did on the Gorloks.  Here it is for all that are interested:

http://www.ksdk.com/video/default.aspx?aid=68158&bw=

Hopefully that link works.  If not, go to www.websterathletics.com and click on men's basketball and you will find it!

Pretty nice story!

that is a good story. glad to see the Gorloks getting some local attention and even better DIII getting attention.

In response to earlier questions about The Galaxy. The website is brand-new. We are in the process of working all the kinks out. Everything on the site works. It just takes a while to load. It will get better as time goes on though...

Well folks. You know that light bulb that blinks on every now and then, when you have an idea or you see something in a brighter way. While reading Pat Coleman's post, about the mind blowing number of posts he's read, my light came on.

After having had a milestone birthday recently, I pledged to myself that I was not going to waste, or take for granted, another single day. I have yet to reach life long goals and have a lot of things I need to catch up on.

I have come to realize how many hours, days and weeks I have wasted on here. Reading useless garbage, defending myself to people I could care less about and simply wasting precious time.

This site is a very valuable informational tool. A nice place to quickly find every D3 schedule, score and roster information. Other then that?

To my SLIAC poster friends Bunchtime, Pride, Hopefan and Yjak. I have your email addresses and text list. We will definately stay in touch, as always.

It's not very often that I have been in a position to enjoy a 15-4 season like this one. And, to those that know me personally on here, you'll know what I mean when I say. " the light is at the in of the tunnel". I have about 4 more seasons (give or take) to enjoy this game up close and personally. That's what I intend to do.

Basketball is a great game. It has benifited me in ways only those close to me will ever understand. But, with the other issues that I need to look after, the recent dribble on here has made me see that light.

Have at it guys and see ya at the games. FCnews, over and outta here.

You know, Fc got contemplative, and I guess got rubbed the wrong way by Pat and Greg, and now apparently will go on hiatus - poor timing FC, because as you point out, the next 3 weeks still offers a lot of fun leading up to the conference playoffs, and this place is great for discussion of those happenings.  As you have said FC, many people read our ramblings and are entertained and enlightened - your writings, and temper tantrums will be missed is you leave us for long...

BUT, FC's contemplations led me to also wonder aloud... why am I such a one of a kind?   Why do I seem to be the only one around here who enjoys D3 hoops for the game it is, for the kids who play, for the thills that it brings me...  (Without having a rooting interest for any particular team).  I see many like me at high school basketball tourneys, sitting in a section of their peers, evaluating this kid and that kid, this coach or that coach, studying the bracket of a 16 team tournament...  but NEVER anyone like me, going to Webster one night, Maryville the next, Wash U the next, Fontbonne the next...Just to see the kids play hard, looking for the most competitive game available.  It's so disappointing to me that so few around here have a passion for the game, the competition...  FC, has it, Yjak has it, Furbug has it, but they each are so tied to their individual favorite teams that they sometimes view the game differently than a neutral observer like myself.  That's not a bad thing - I experienced that for years with Hope, then for a while with Wash U, even with Maryville.  But it's so much fun to go to a game these last couple of years and truly not worry about who wins, but rather how the game was played.  That's why I have a horrid taste for people in the stands who do nothing but gripe about the officials, or this year, a bad taste for a particular coach who seems to be going overboard with his actions at screaming at his kids....those kinds of things take away from where the focus should be - the competition on the floor.

wow FC got me going

Anyway, comments from Wednesday night Fontbonne-Webster.

1) Hooray for the officials - they REALLY let em play - and I think the kids loved it.  Please SLIAC refs, more games like that than the silly foul shooting contests we usually see.

2)  When the all conference teams are selected, I hope the coaches who vote recognize defense as well as offense.  If so, Chad Fournie should make first team All Conference.  My kind of player, over any of this years leading scorers, ALL of whom have shown a propensity of inconsistancy and coming up short in big games  -  Chad's game is consistant and first rate.  I feel almost as stongly about Justin Storandts rebounding performance night in and night out..

3) Heard a disturbing rumor from several different sources in the last several days - regarding a potential conference reallignment..   If it comes out as fact, I'll scream bloody murder on these pages, and ask every question I can think of as to why a particular school would sell out on a bunch of good kids, because that's what i consider it....

oh a chance meeting with Steve Bash's dad at the Webster FC game  -  we'd seen each other many times over the years, wish we hadn't waited so long to speak...

Off to Maryville at Greenville tomorrow - huge game - will phone to yjak fc ecsid

#4795
hopefan standings

Webster +2  wins at Westmin and fontbonne
Fontbonne  -1 loss at Webster
Westmin  -2  loss to Greenville, loss at home to Webster

the middle group
Greenville +1   win over westmin
Maryville 0
Eureka 0

The Mu at GC  and the EC at GC games will likely decide the 4th place spot.

If we assume Maryville, Eureka and Greenville don't beat the top 3 or lose to the bottom 3, possible outcomes are:

1) If Greenville beats both Maryville and Eureka, they'll be fourth, a game ahead of both

2) If Greenville loses to both Eureka and Maryville, Eureka and Maryville would be tied for fourth, and all other things would be equal, per the SLIAC site, a coin toss would determinr the fourth place finisher

3) if Maryville beats Greenville, and Greenville beats Eureka, Maryville and Grenville would be tied, and Maryville would get the 4th place spot by virtue of two wins over Greenville.

4) if Eureka beats Greenville, and Greenville beats Maryville, Eureka and Grenville would be tied, and Eureka would get the 4th place spot by virtue of two wins over Greenville

Of course, if any of the 3 could score an upset over one of the top 3, it would change all of the above....

You should compare notes with Rhodes Scholar, who does the same thing in the New York City area. You can see him on the CUNYAC, Skyline and NJAC boards. Hang in there.

Alright, nice to see things have mellowed out and people are giving there thesis on life.  As for fcnews, i recall him getting flustered a little a few years ago and he came back.  YOU'RE ALRIGHT FCNEWS!  Take a 30 second time out, get some Gatorade and come back in the game.  You're still in the game. :)

As for the weekend...
Prin at Lincoln Christian:  To us, it doesn't mater.  To the kids, it does.  Give the edge to LCC at home.
Webster at Blackburn: Webster but don't get greedy, the Beaver Dome is deadly.
Eureka at Fontbonne: Fontbonne may look for blood after Wednesday.  FU by 10+.
MacMurray at Westminster (Mo): Long trip for the highlanders.  Bluejays with the W.

Maryville (Mo) at Greenville:  GAME OF THE WEEKEND

Maryville is coming off two heart breaking overtime losses while Greenville is riding a two game winning streak.  Greenville got down early to Maryville earlier in the year and didn't have enough time to bounce back.  Panthers need to stick to the game plan and play early and often and stay ahead of the Saints.  HUGE GAME if Greenville wants to make the tournament.  Give it to Greenville in another close one.

BONUS PICK:  #13 Puget Sound at Linfield

Puget Sound, winners of two of their last three including an overtime win v. cross town rival Pacific Lutheran on a last second shot by Antwan Williams, works to remain in front of the NWC.  It was a five point game in the Fieldhouse last time Puget Sound and Linfield met.  Give this one to the Loggers in a decent win.

GO GREENVILLE // GO PUGET SOUND
