There isn't much more I can say about the situation with Fontbonne and Principia.  If you all feel so passionate about stringing this kid out to dry, you don't have too far to go to the head honcho.  Your basketball coach is the Director of Athletics.  Write a note, call him up, send an e-mail and have something done.  Obviously the initial phone call to Principia has been made, the official's report (of an intentional foul) has been submitted, and with Myers playing on Tuesday Night, I'm sure Fontbonne has contacted Commissioner Wolper about the situation as well.

If you guys feel so passionate about it, quit voicing your opinion on this message board and do something about it.  I'm not backing down how I feel, I just think it's been beat into the ground that the Fontbonne faithful are pissed off that their guy was injured and that nothing has been done to reprimand Mr. Myers.  There is nothing hopefan, Pat Colman, furbug, Bunch Time, myself or any of the other posters can do about it.  You have someone close to the situation, fcnews, already on top of it.  What more do you want done?

I am unaffected by the situation.  It doesn't bother me either way.  However, Justin Myers doesn't deserve to be treated like garbage on this board.  No student-athlete does no matter what happened.  Neither does an institution or athletic staff.  I realize it's a public forum and as we have found out, people will get their feeling hurt and upset and leave.  Others ram people head on until they run people off.

Keep talking smack, do the karma thing...  it doesn't phase me.  The fact is, a student-athlete was injured on a play by a trip and kick in the head, scrum on the floor... whatever the video says.  One went to the hospital, one continued to play and hasn't been reprimanded.  How do we know that some other steps haven't been taken?  We don't. No one on this board is a backer of Principia.  So, we really cannot tell.  If nothing is done and the SLIAC doesn't do anything, are we going to continue to kick this topic?  What do you want done at this point in the season?

I'm not sure what else can be said other than what happened, happened.  That's about it.

I don't get the bitterness. What have I done to you again?

Still some interesting permutations for the 4th spot:

If Greenville beats Prin at home, and wins at Fontbonne, they get 4th, finishing 10-6.

If Greenville loses to Fontbonne, to finish 9-7, Maryville and Eureka are still in it.
1) GC loses to Font, Eureka beats Webster, Maryville wins 2 (Mac and Prin), 3 way tie, Eureka in with win over 1st place Webster
2) GC loses to Font, Eureka loses to Webster, Maryville wins 2, Webster beats Westmin, 2 way tie, Greenville and Maryville, COIN TOSS
3) GC loses to Font, Eureka loses to Webster, Maryville wins 2, Westmin beats Webster, 2 way tie, Greenville and Maryville, Greenville gets 4th as they beat Westmin who would then be ahead of Fontbonne in standings.

Greenville has the cleanest path
Eureka in if it scores the upset over Webster and Greenville loses to Fontbonne
Greenville Maryville coin toss also likely scenario is GC loses to Font and Webster beats Eureka and Westmin.

Furbug, some games are lost by the losing team with errors, bad judgement, poor coaching decision moreso than being an earned win by the winning team  Taking nothing away from Webster, Maryville put blinders on and handed the win over to the Gorlocks

Some people might not think it matters for Fontbonne and Westminster who ends up second and who ends up third.  I know it will affect who gets the fourth spot but speaking only for WC and FC the second spot could have some very intersting implications.  All I can say from looking at the numbers is Fontbonne better hope BC beats WC sat.

I have done my research folks and I have come to the conclusion from numerous quotes and the flat out facts that WC is more comfortable and plays better in its home jerseys.

Since this year's senior class have been freshmen; I present the staggering statistics.

Road games (blue jerseys): 21-31
Home games (white jerseys): 30-15
Neutral games (I dont know jerseys): 3-6
Neutral games against Fontbonne 1-0 (at Moody Bible, dark jerseys)

And to get even more technical since acquiring the new white jerseys (two seasons) they are a mind-bottling 18-3.

Some people might say, well Juniormint, what if it's just home court advantage and not the "white jerseys?"  All I have to say to that is, home is where you make it.  You gotta protect the nest.  Go BLUE JAYS!

...and since I dont have 200 posts yet (im close, im in the teens), im gonna go ahead and give myself a karma point, shoot make it five.  whats life without good karma?   ;D

furbug - sorry to extend the argument - but saying a team played poorly, or was coached poorly - especially after quoting the coach who said exactly that - is hardly belittling the team.   It's letting readers who were not there get a feel for the game, or at least get my take on the last two minutes of the game - showing that I strongly felt that Maryville's poor play in the last two minutes led to Webster's win, not some miraculous turnaround in play by Webster.  I have been lectured not to make negative comments about individuals on this page and I no longer do - surely I should be able to say a team played poorly - ie chose to give it away (on a silver platter) - without reprimand.   we can't get TOO soft around here!!!!

See you tomorrow...   and tonight if you go over to Wash U.....

You may not be aware of this, Mr. Mint, but Westminster actually wore their white unis @ Eureka last year because they played the night before at Lincoln. They won that game, so you may need to adjust your records.

Sorry it's taken me so long to comment on the Eureka/Greenville game.  The Panthers played much better than the 1st time I saw them. They took better shots and defended the paint a little better.

Eureka played the game without Matt McComb. His leadership on the court would have been nice to have while Greenville was building its 25-9 lead.  Eureka outplayed GC for the last 30 minutes, but couldn't overcome the bad start. It was an entertaining and well played game with just 14 total turnovers. It was nice to see how both teams have improved greatly since the beginning of the season.

Ben Hensold hit some big shots for Greenville.  The Panthers hit 9-for-18 from 3-point range compared to 7-for-19 for EC. Greenville had some issues defending the post players for Eureka, especially Chris Beecher, who played very well in helping EC get back in the game.

This is not a crushing loss for Eureka, but Webster isn't exactly the team you want to see on the schedule when you're facing a must win. I just hope the 4th spot doesn't come down to a coin toss.

It's absolutely ridiculous that the SLIAC would allow a playoff position to come down to a coin toss.

The reason given not only points to the SLIAC manual and the rules as a culprit, but also the poor job of Scheduling that someone in the SLIAC as done.
Why do I say poor scheduling you ask..
NOTE  -  the SLIAC is the ONLY conference in the country who begins playoffs this coming weekends, but schedules the final regular season game on Tuesday, rather than today or tomorrow (Saturday Sunday).
Given a regular season game on Tuesday, it seems impossible to have a playoff game on Wednesday and the first round of the conference tournet on Thursday.

WHY does the SLIAC extend the regular season to Tuesday?  Especially when LCC dropped out, making for 16 league games rather than 18?
Totally unfair to the kids, the coaches and their fans if one team sits due to a coin flip.

Of course this  little rant is meaningless if Eureka beats Webster or Greenville beats Fontbonne or Westmin beats Webster....

It was nice when  SLIACCOMMISH (now Formersliaccommish) would address issues like this on this forum- wish the new guy, whom I've not even met or talked to, would be more visible to fans.......

FC - that is correct  - if Westmin and Font finish tied, then neither MU nor Greenville has an advantage with their single win

Perhaps, an empowered new commish would offer up the correct solution, if the scenario arises, and allow a playoff game if both teams were willing....

Is the Fontbonne court available Wednesday night????????

I am right about the coin toss scenario then??

I couldn't agree more that this coin toss thing is a joke.  How does a conference rely on a flip of a coin to determine who enters the conference tourney?  Imagine telling your team after battling all year that "sorry fellas that I picked heads, we're out, but good effort."  Seriously, you play 16 games to have it come down to a coin toss.  Wow.  Something has got to change.  Like Hopefan said, let the teams play on Wednesday night.  I am quite certain that the deadlocked teams would much rather potentially play 3 games in a row than have their season determined by a quarter.  If nothing else, and if the SLIAC doesn't allow the teams to agree to the deal, meet at a gym, wear practice gear and play to 20 and the losing team calls the SLIAC and defers to the other team.  I know this sounds a bit ridiculous, but anything is better than winning or losing a bid based not on merit, but on the luck of coin toss.  That was my rant of the day.
