The Post Dispatch today announced that the Div 2 GLVC ADs had voted to accept Maryville and Illinois Springfield.... GLVC Prresidents must do the same and Maryville is officially in a D2 Conf.  They will begin playing a GLVC schedule in 2009-10.

The conference would move to 3 5-team divisions, with a Missouri only Division including Drury, Mo S&T (Rolla), UMSL, Rockhurst, and Maryville.

Razor Back  -  if you are a part of or close to Mac's Athletic Dept - could you ask them to clean up that roster so the uninformed viewer could know what's right or  wrong on it.....   I checked it out and it includes last year's seniors, numerous duplicate lines, and boxes of missing data....  Stuff like that gets put out on the site and it hurts the credibility of the program and the SID, if there is one.  If they put the time into getting it on the site for viewing, they should see to it that it is reasonably correct.....

hopefan -

The link below works for the 2008-2009 roster, or at least it did for me...

Same one I posted above on 10/3...

As far as I can tell, it is 100% correct...

Mac's SID is a Mike Underwood...

If you want to contact Mike, his email is: mike.underwood@mac.edu

Razor thanks for responding  - and I see the problem -  when one goes to the Mac site that is listed on D3hoops, and the roster that comes up on that site, it comes up with the incorrect roster I saw at :

http://www.mac.edu/athletics/mensbasketball_roster.asp

this is different from the address you provided:

D3 hoops link must need to be updated??

thanks again - good communication straightens out problems!!!!

No problem, hopefan...

When is the first day teams can actually practice - is it October 15?

Mac plays one conference game before January - is that what most SLIAC teams do?

Mac at Webster on December 6 should be a good one...

Fontbonne and Maryville go to Jacksonville right near the end of the season...

If it's a close race, those games could be huge, especially for Mac...

My guess, going in, is it's going to be free-for-all for at least two of the four post-season spots...

There are 2 league games scheduled for December-  but because the league has nine teams, two teams are off -   Mac doesn't play in Conference on Dec. 3rd,  Maryville is off on Dec 6th.

I would agree that the 4 team conference tourney picks could be a real crapshoot.

Fontbonne is everyone's favorite, but beyond their 3 seniors and Josh Branch will be counting on new or inexperienced faces to fill the fifth spot and bench - they could be hurting if the injury bug were to bite...

Webster has great perimeter experience returning, but will be going to last year's role players or new faces to become key inside rebounders and scorers.   Bunch has proven to be an inside man's coach in the past - he'll need to work on that again this year.

Maryville - a ton of players returning and a large number of recruits - they came on so strong last year, but will winning keep harmony on the team for so many players who get only 5 to 10 minutes per game - if Mr Rogers can keep the numbers together, they'll be good again.

Mac - so many new faces, and a couple of old ones too.  From down here in St Louis, it's a total unknown til we see them play.  Greene and Coleman could be the backbone if they can return to their prior level of play after a year off..
Westminster - exactly what I wrote about Mac  new faces will be critical, but I like the coach and Warncke will be a leader.

Greenville - my personal dark horse -  saw them play a very good game against Maryville last year where several kids played very well off the bench.  Same thing as always with Greenville - can they present a big man who can compete...

BC and PC  -  I just don't see them being factors - PC has a couple good players back, but nothing beyond unless new faces come in - Blackburn would also seem to be far behind.

Not to mention Eureka, who has Zasada, Darnell, and Wildenradt back....

Agree with you, hopefan, on your preseason prognosis...

Would think the Highlanders will be playing with name tags for a month or so...

Does official practice start October 15?

Webster the reigning conference champs loses two big men and pick up 3-4. Most are juco so they should be able to make immediate impact. WU should be in good shape.

For FU, you can pencil the name Chris Forrest into the 5th starting spot. Rapp, Sheetz and Lovette (if he can stay healthy and fill the Dressler 6-8 minutes) will be the returners to look for from the bench. There are three freshmen that I can see getting minutes. The main one being Nolan Zoellner, 6'5, very basketball smart. Nolan is a great perimeter shooter who can also take you off the dribble and will "D" up.

Storandt seems to have decided he likes to score alittle more then in the past. And, will get the chance if teams try to double or forget about him. It's getting close.

FU did not get their rematch with Wm. Penn. First game will be against Waldorf College. Same conference but not as good of results last year. As usual they will have like 5 games under their belt before they face FU.

Looks like it.

It would be nice if schools could take down pages when they move on to new ones. That would be helpful for not only us but search engines, which still reference the old pages.

Plus, it's hard to take your opponents seriously when they're nicknamed "the Salads". ;)

The Sporting News College Edition is saying Elmhurst is a team poised for a "possible breakthrough" into the national scene this season...

Blue Jays play at MacMurray on Nov. 15 and at Fontbonne on December 16...

Mac will have had one exhibition game (at SEMO) before hosting Elmhurst...

Fontbonne will have played 8 games, including a game against #2 Wash U, before the Blue Jays come calling...

Not that it means a hill of beans in March, but it will be interesting to compare the two games...

As I said earlier, because of the many new faces, Mac should be better in February than they will be in November...

Glad to see FU's Chris Forrest bounce back so quickly after sitting out a season...

Another name for fans to watch from the FU freshmen class, Gavin Alfered.
The UCity product is a great athlete and very active on the floor. Could see time down around the basket.

Newcommers will help, but we know Coach's views on going with the best five for 30 minute plus per game. For two years FU has won with the best five on the floor.
