No disrespect to IWU, Titan Q, this kid turned down 10 DI offers to play JV in Bloomington? I read the article and it kind of skirts the offer and visit subject. IWU is a great program with super facilities and fan base. But was there truly DI offers and if so, this still makes him no better then a JV prospect for IWU.

The Titan's must truly be loaded.

A newspaper article after he committed to IWU...

McCullough definitely had a bunch of low DI offers, but just because a kid has Division I scholarships does not mean he will be ready as a freshman to compete in college...even at the small college level.  Just as there is no guarantee a Division I transfer will become a star D III player.

As I understood it, McCullough wanted to be able to play two sports; and, No problem at IWU.  Not the case even in low D1 programs, it's usually a one sport scholarship offer with restrictions on playing other sports.  As talented as McCollough seems on the hardwoods, his upside opportunity beyond college may well be on the pitching mound.

'iwumichigander' hit the nail on the head. Eric didn't want to give up baseball. He had several DII programs that would let him play both. You should have heard what all of the DI coaches said to Eric after he told them he was committing to IWU. People should also know that we first spoke to Coach Rose when Eric was a Sophmore. Eric may surprise alot of people or may not. Larry Butler (Illinois Warriors) invited Eric to play on his AAU team this last year but Eric was playing high level baseball, including pitching in 3 games at the NABF Senior World Series. BTW he was 2-0-1. Its like he says 'Where else could I possible play for a National Championship in basketball and baseball in the same year?? Go Titans!

Makes a little more sense. Baseball wasn't mentioned in the first post. Still after reading the write up, it says a lot about the Titans if this kid spends a season on a JV team.

Pat Coleman

It doesn't say anything we didn't learn about five years ago when Keelan Amelianovich spent his freshman year on JV.

I was under the impression that IWU would still be pretty young this year. Was that the the same for the case mentioned.

No.  When Keelan was a freshman, they were absolutely loaded.  Adam Dauksas (also a first-team All American eventually) was the only freshman with significant varsity minutes.

This year they will still be quite young, but have quality returnees at every spot (ranging from soph to senior), though one or more freshmen may (and almost certainly will) crack the rotation.

I think 'Mr Ypsi' is right on. I also believe there will be a few freshmen that will see Varsity minutes. This freshmen class is not a bunch of 'scrubbs'. Rose has recruited several legitimate players, Zimmer for one. Remember, they return a starting 4 from last year. They were 16-11 and didnt make the post season. They could have used some help last year. Rose has shown that he is not affraid to play a quality freshman. I think he has a total of 19 players, some may dress for both.

I don't mean to offend anyone who is part of this IWU conversation, but it got started by Titan Q a couple of days ago and I think it is time to move it to the CCIW board.

Now we need something to talk about here in the SLIAC, YJAK.

Decided to google the kid from California on the Webster Roster - Richard Ogunsalu  -    usually find nothing in attempts - not this time   - found LOTS -   this kid scored a boatload of points last year - don't know what the school size is or the competition level, but he had over 500 points his senior year -  player of the year in his conference     -    let's hope he likes Webster and St Louis!!!!
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

I don't see the 6'7 Collins (transfer) from MN. on the roster that Bunchtime mentioned earlier this summer.
