Well, this is not really in the rules... to be from Greenville and agree with someone from Fontbonne but...

We do go through this banter every year and it's normally what causes the split between folks and the board.  Listen, each institution and coach designs their schedule each season based on a number of theories.  Coach Bunch and Webster schedules tougher NCAA III opponents.  Fontbonne doesn't.  Neither does Greenville.  Webster can be happy with their regular season SLIAC titles and all but when push comes to shove, scheduling or not, Fontbonne has been the SLIAC rep the last few years (even though being from Greenville I don't like it!) :)

Let's complain more about the scheduling...  to what resolute?  Nothing.  It does get old arguing about it each and every year.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. This time next week we'll have conference games to discuss.

BLA

So we can't discuss a topic because it's been covered previously on the board?  I apologize for giving my opinion on the subject of scheduling that I personally never posted my two cents about.  Didn't know there were restrictions on a basketball board on subjects involving basketball.

So reading past posts we can no longer discuss officiating, tourney losses, coaching philosophies, scheduling, or recruiting. All these have been covered in detail.  Any others I left out?

I read everyone's post and either agree or disagree. But I would never imply that someone's wasting my time and practically belittle their thoughts as ramblings just because, on this site, they might be unoriginal. Who is anyone to tell anyone on here that the issue is dead.  It's not dead as long as someone has a rational thought on the matter and I will comment on issues that I feel are relevent. You can choose whether to read it or not.

FC, I never said that the scheduling was wrong. There isn't a right or wrong.  I expressed my opinion that scheduling Lincoln Christian really doesn't give young guys in FU's program that much experience. I suggested that playing a JV game for 30 minutes is more game experience. But since they enter every varsity game they can't.  I know the numbers game. 25 games that all you get.  I know that Webster in the past will take a guy struggling that plays in every game and have him play a JV game to get a little confidence back, then sit him for an entire game a later date.  I just thought that would make sense in some cases because a lot of times guys will enter a game and log five minutes. Buring one of the total games for five minutes of game time isn't as valuable as playing thirty against one of the area JUCOS. But that's my opinion.

Bla - I in know way wanted it to appear I was closing any subject, it's the best reading. I was just saying that I was done commenting on the scheduling topic.

And, Yes Sir some times you'll have to overlook a long winded post here or there. Thats why I usually thank everybody for the space.

Let the conference begin.

BLA

FC, my comments regarding issues being shot down was more directed towards other posters.  I understand that defending the same things can get tiresome. Especially since you feel that there is nothing to defend. You and I will disagree the majority of the time but I do respect the philosophy that you share with Fontbonne.

By the way.....there is no question that FU's conference tourney record is more than impressive.  There is no arguing their success. I feel that if I didn't have such strong connections to the Gorloks then I would have to say that FU has the best shot to to win a NCAA tourney game with the group they have.  If I was strictly a SLIAC guy with no bias to any program, I'd have to say FU is who you would like to see represent the conference this year (just so everyone knows, i barely could keep my lunch down while typing that).

I'm really looking forward to the conference to start. The Gorloks have a tough opener on the road and sadly I'm not one to travel, although it would be interesting to see Warnacke and Crawford. That's going to be a tough combo to stop this season.

So reading past posts we can no longer discuss officiating,

I will take the heat for trying to waylay a conversation about officiating. I have posted on this board for about 4 years and the complaints about the officials who call SLIAC games seems always to be the same and I don't think I've heard any original thoughts on the subject since the my first season posting. Inevitably people seem to conclude that the "SLIAC officials" are the worst possible officials in the country. I point out that these guys are not exclusively SLIAC officials.

I also have heard the same complaints on the ODAC board in the South Region. (I read that board because my alma mater plays in that conference.)

Officiating was also the topic of a "Daily Dose" discussion a few years ago. After reading many posts complaining about officials I made a post asking for anyone who was happy with the officiating in their conference to please step up and say so. No one did.

I don't seriously object to somone complaining about a given call in a game and explaining how they thnk that might have affected the outcome of that game. Nor am I concerned about what someone perceives to be a poor job in general about the officials in a certain game. But that inevitabley leads to the broader discussion about our local officials being terrible, and it seems to never end.

So if anyone in the future posts comments or complaints about officials I will keep my mout shut. Freedom of speech is one of our most precious rights and I do not want to interfere with it. I am not being facetious or sarcastic. I mean that sincerely.

Funny that you mention that yjak. A nice officiating comment from FCNews. First game in Chicago. Playing Waldorf. In the MBI gym. One of the officials, late in the game during some free throws, had a mutual respect conversation going. McKinney ask if he'd be back for the championship game. His reply was scheduling conflicts, he was on the crew at the Augie v. Wash U. game.

Did one of those jobs, where you can't recall any of his whistles. I consider that a job well done.

Out of curiosity, does BLA stand for Bunch Loses Again? Are you really a Fontbonne supporter trying to stir stuff up from the Gorlok angle?

Also, FCNews, everything ok? I needed a decoder ring for your last post. You must have been worn out after all those black Friday door buster specials. thrwos, mutuak, goig, ask, were.

Actually folks I'll have to plead mechanical difficulties. I'm at a different locale. The keyboard I'm using belongs to a programmer. Can you beleive some people know where the letters are without even looking. That comes in handy, since the letters are basically worn off.

I'm trying to figure what to make out of the WC win @ Spalding. The best I can make is it looks like the new sliac member is going to be a tough road win.

Come on fc, admit it.  You are slipping a bit in your older years!!! :)

After a round of Conference games and a Rust College 2-game drive thru (and they will get a split), the SLIAC has a few high profile games with high profile players. Should be great viewing here in the STL.

FU @ #1 Wash U. - with Wallis, Nading and Thompson
#3 Wheaton @ WU - Wheaton with Kent Raymond and Andy Wiele
#17 Elmhurst @ FU - Elmhurst with Brent Ruch and Ryan Burks

Should be some good times for watching some good college players. Without leaving town.

What's the over/under on Fontbonne pulling of one of the two upsets?  The old Bears have been rattled in the past few games, can the Griffins pull by?
