Greek Tragedy

Any Pointer fan heading to Vegas in December?  That tourney sounds pretty cool and I wonder who Point will be going up against.  Speaking of Point, where's their schedule?!  Heard they might be having problems filling out the schedule...of course, I think that's an annual issue.

Tough holiday stretch.  At St. Thomas before Christmas, and then four games in four days out West.  Vegas to Phoenix isn't a short ride either...flying, I presume?

Yeah, 4 games in 4 days.

Only one of the 4 teams had a winning record last year, though.

Ramapo: 18-9
CO College: 12-13
Simpson: 6-19
Linfield: 12-13

One thing jumps out at me... look at the range of scores for Ramapo.  They scored over 90 8 times (3 over 100, 129 high) but were held to 37 points in their last game.

That is interesting.  I wonder if he is living in the area and wanted to get involved in coaching again?

Yeah, it said in the comments that he lives really close to L&C.

So I got really confused when I looked at River Falls' schedule...

On 11/23 they play St. Thomas.

And on 11/27, they play St. Thomas.

I went to UST's site and schedule and it mentions the 11/23 date but not the 11/27, so I figured it was a mistake.

But RF has 25 games.

And then I clicked on the second St. Thomas... and it's an NAIA school in Texas.  That makes sense because RF plays Southwestern the night before.

I'm interested to see what we get from this RF team.  They played really well at times last year... they played UST (who was then #3) to a 1 point game and beat Whitewater in OT (then #6).  They had a 5 game winning streak mid-year) and a 2 game winning streak (to start the year)... and two scattered wins, the aforementioned one against WW and one against La Crosse (who took 3rd in the league).

What a strange year!

I made a case for them to potentially be a top-25 team on the appropriate multi-region page... because I think Manor may have a big impact.  The top 6 scorers are back, plus a guy who averaged 10+ ppg his first two years at Superior.

Now, I understand that there are only so many balls to go around... so with three 13+ point scorers from this last year, there may be something that "gives."  It may be that RF will become a more prolific scoring team.  I think Manor adds another threat... but will it be at the expense of team chemistry?

RF also has two other Junior transfers coming in this year, per their release.

Yeah, it said in the comments that he lives really close to L&C.

His coaching at L & C was short lived, as explained here in THIS JSOnline story and in this article on the The Oregonian website which he says a news release was sent out in error by someone at L & C.

FYI- I have heard conflicting reports, but as of right now I believe Wade Guerin will be sitting out 2010-11.  He injured his back during a summer tournament and had surgery late this summer.

Ill post if i hear anything else.
