OS,

Thanks for the note. You know, I've been so bogged down watching the Bucks, UW, UWM, and mFU that I haven't been to any D3 games this year ... not even my beloved Skosh at Carroll. Grrr. This shall change soon. But kudos to Pat on the new boards. I shall be checking in regularly now (thank god for wireless).

Stevens Point, today, was the best  team I've seen this season. Even though the Falcons pulled within 7-8 late in the game, it never appeared they were in it. And for my money, based on only one game, El Amin should be starting for SP. He hit 4/5 shots, played good defense, slashed and passed off and generally handled himself like a seasoned senior. He was the most efficient player on an effiicient team. The only thing the Pointers lack is a good big man.

Their lack of size allowed Zylstra, 6'8," to get off lots of uncontested shots. But to his credit, Zylstra is the most improved Falcon and will be a force in the league for the next two years. Ryan Thompson, with 8 assists, proved he is one of the best passers in the league.

I finally got to see El-Amin play on Wednesday, and even though it wasn't a great game from him, I got to see flashes of what people are talking about.  I still think his size is a factor in him not playing more often.  I think that he has a great future and 1-2 years from now, no one will care about his size.

I would feel a lot more comfortable about Point's chances if they had a solid big man playing.  They need a 6'9 or 6'10 stud in the paint, and they would be tough.  I mean they had Hicklin jumping for them on Wednesday.  When your Point Guard is your best option on the opening tip, you know that size is an issue.

Does anyone know what Lee's status is.  I know that he has suited up and not played as of late.  I would hate if he losses a year of eligibility for the few minutes he played, if they determined he was not healthy enough to play.

Me, too. I wondered if your radio station had had you embedded in Iraq or something, Andrew.  ;)

Anyone happen to know why Kyle Johnson is no longer listed on UWO's roster??  Anyone????

Kyle Johnson quit the UW-O program.  Early reports are that he and Ted didn't see eye to eye about a few things.  I think it happened just prior to the game with the WARHAWKS[/color].

Not neccisarily a WIAC note, but I figured it was an interesting note related to WI.  Lawrence just got a mention on College GameNight, for being the only college mens unbeaten team left in the nation.

Congrats!

Yeah, the Pointers definitely lack size, as shown by their 15 total rebounds vs. Platteville on Wednesday.  It's tough when your best inside presence is 6'4" Jon Krull!

I think El-Amin doesn't start because they already have a disadvantage of a lack of height with the starting lineup.  El-Amin is definitely a find and has played well when the matchup is there.  He's quick and is great at bringing the ball up against the press (great work vs. Stout's press).

Hicklin takes the jump ball at the opening tip more often than not, actually.  I guess Point really doesn't feel like there is an advantage of getting it.  If they did, they'd throw in Gbenga Awe or Drew Jackson!

There is an NCAA rule that goes something like once you start school, you have 10 full semesters to use up your eligibility.  Shawn Lee went to UW-Marshfield (even though he didn't play), for, I blieve, at least a semester and possibly a year.  So, that's already a year of "eligibility" he's used.  So, even if he sat out this year, he'd use up all 10 semesters regardless.  Basically, his year at Marshfield was like him "redshirting".

On a side note, it's nice to see Matt Bouche back in the starting lineup and putting up some good numbers and minutes tonight in River Falls.  He began the season in the starting lineup and then was replaced by Kevin Grusczynski, now has won it back (not sure if KG is hurt or anything).  I think it just shows what hard work in practice can do for you.

Whoa whoa whoa...this is big news. Kyle Johnson is a spark coming off the bench for Oshkosh. At the sametime, I do see how ego's could rub against each other. Well, I guess that's two years in a row that Oshkosh has had a valuable bench player quit the past two years (Kyle Pederson anyone?).

Downtown:

Maybe Ted was calling Kyle a "rat" in that interview a few weeks back ?

That is kind of a backdoor slam, isn't it?

OS,

Matt Bouche should definitely be starting. He is that scrappy player that does the little things. He looks money from 15 feet and always has good position in the paint for rebounding.

Point looked solid. I was impressed with their machine-like ball movement and patience for the best possible chance to score. Semling is doing a hell of a job at Point with these so called "role players" from last year.

Krull, even though he is an undersized big man, makes up for it with his inside/outside presence and able to get to the rim with his athleticism. Another solid go to player for the Pointers.

KG wasn't hurt. He didn't play much, but he was in uniform and on the bench.

Just some general information here because I was bored.  Above is the week by week (through the first half of the season) of how the posters in the pick em pool have picked their winners (in bold).

As you see, Stout leads the way with a 158 total picks, just ahead of preseason favorite Oshkosh, with Whitewater and Point next.

River Falls, La Crosse and Platteville all won with no poster voting for them for that game.

Stout is 2-1 when they are the underdog by the posters.
Stevens Point is 5-1 when favored.
Eau Claire has not been voted for in 6 of their 8 weeks.

I appreciate you figuring that out Mr. D.  It really puts the league in perspective and really DOES place out the teams, 1-9, in a league with so many ties.  Great work, I hope you continue to do it thoughout the season!
