I'll see ya there Stoutfan1, I can't wait for the game.  As far as a low scoring or high scoring game, I could see it going either way.  Both teams are coming off long layoffs so they could be rusty early on shooting wise.  Also, this is UST's first game in the new arena, I expect them to come out spirited for that reason along with playing the defending National Champs.

Stoutfan1, a few of my friends and I are going to Tiffany's after the game for a few beers....you are welcome to join us to talk WIAC if you'd like, I will be easy to pick out...I'll be the one wearing the Stevens Point baseball hat.

stoutfan1

I like that prediction point spiecial. It makes me half right ;)  If Point can hold St. Thomas to 63 I think they will win.  They are a super good defensive team.  I dont know how good teams have been defensively that Point has played, but St. Thomas seems like they will be tough. I see it hard for Point to find 70-75 points offensively against a good defenisve team.

Tomt, If I have time after the game I'll think about stoping by for a drink.  I'd like to see who I'm poking the fire with. ;D

tomt4525

Sounds good stoutfan....You can call it poking the fire with, I call it starting discussions.  I may not be right, but i'll get my opinion out there anyways.

tomt4525,
This is not the first game for UST in the new arena. I believe RF actually played in the first game and they've had at least one conference game there against Macalester.

Thanks jimhoops....I remember reading a long time ago on the UST men's basketball page that Point's game was supposed to be their first home game in the new arena.  Maybe they got ahead of schedule or maybe I was just completely mistaken.  Either way, that doesn't take anything away from the excitement of this game and the excitement of me seeing the new arena.

This will be game #3... the UST/River Falls matchup was the first.

#4 vs #7 should be fun. I do recall reading the same thing on the ust page. Their website is often slow to update and sometimes with things like this they are worded wrong in the headline.

As nca11 mentioned a few days back, does the naia loss not count in the rankings for uwrf. They are absolutely a top 25 team right now but I was curious how that got missed.

Anything counts for rankings, ultimately...  The rankings are subjective.

When it comes to NCAA at-large bids, any game not against an in-region, D-III game doesn't count... so the St. Thomas (Tx) game wouldn't, while the St. Thomas (MN) would.

The RF record is just wrong on the rankings.  I'll send Pat a note to let him know.

Actually, not only wasn't the score reported (typical for UWRF) the game wasn't even in the system so we didn't know it was missing.

It's certainly no fault of yours!  Nobody has the time to track down every outcome of every game (or every schedule of every school) singlehandedly, especially somebody who's not doing this full time!

Isn't amazing that St. Thomas builds a $50 million facility and yet they don't have live stats or video.

As for RF, they absolutely deserve to be ranked. 4-0 in the WIAC for the first time in a long long time. Coach Berkhof has got those guys to buy in to playing a lot of guys and a handful are capable of getting 20 on any night. That could be a major plus down the stretch.
