Actually that was Chris Davis who  had his sixth consecutive, ninth on the season, double-double 28 points, 11 rebounds.  Bryd finished with 14 points, 6 rebounds.  The WARHAWKS would have had problems throwing the ball into the Pacific Ocean at times in the first half and shot 27.5% for the half.  Occidental shot 62.5% yet the WARHAWKS only trailed by four points 34-30.  The WARHAWKS took the lead for good in the first three minutes of the second half and had leads of as many as thirteen points with three minutes to play but some missed shots, turnovers and spotty free throw shooting down the stretch allowed Occidental to cut into the lead and make it a close finish.  DJ Dantzler had game high assists and steals with 6 and 3 respectively.

The video feed was brutal on my computer.  It kept buffering every 20 seconds or so and was a good four minutes behind the radio broadcast.  As much as I prefer to watch the game I finally just gave up.

I just wanted you to have all of the glory at having the right answer!  ;)

I totally misread that box score, thanks for the update!

Davis is very quietly establishing himself as one of the leading players in the conference.  He's third in scoring averaging 20.5 points and the leader with 9.8 rebounds per game.  He's had nine double-doubles in thirteen games.  Things will probably get tougher for him as we progress more deeply into league play but he's a hard worker and his skill set is improving literally in leaps and bounds.  He's never really had decent coaching in the past and now that he does he's going to get much better before he leaves the program.

Other than myself no one has even mentioned his name.  PS even credited, albeit an oversight, another player for his game last night.  I guess I just meant that being his first year in the conference he was pretty much an unknown coming into the season.

Point of correction:  The double-double against Occidental was actually his eighth, not ninth, of the season.

I think I was originally going to write about Byrd and Davis (both scored in double figures) and got distracted... and finished my sentence without half of the info.

FWIW, though, Davis was the #3 pick in the WIAC fantasy draft, after Mane and Smith... it isn't like he's an unknown to everybody... we just haven't talked a lot about Whitewater in general, I think!

BadgerWarhawk, you should take a gander at the Wiac Fantasy thread.  As PointSpecial pointed out, Davis was drafted 3rd overall by me.  I have been hyping him for the past couple weeks now.

Ok, I don't read that topic so I wasn't aware of it.  I should have realized that you guys were to sharp to miss talent like Davis.   My bad.

In the Falcon win, Manor led with 24, Voeltz had 12, Johnson and Koonkaew 11. Koonkaew also had 7 assts, 5 steals, no turnovers in 30 minutes off the bench. Johnson's  points all off the bench too.

Stout was 14 of 28 from three range with Buccholtz hitting 9 of 12. But the BD's shot only 32% overall  to the Falcons' 53%. The full court press, game long by Stout, produced no turnovers. In fact., RF's 11 total t.o.'s is a season low, or near it.

Manor had another spectacular score: in mid air, as the ball was about to go out of bounds over the end line, or so it looked, Manor "saved" it with his left hand and scooped it in from about 8-10 feet. That description does not really do the play justice. I hope it gets included in the videotape and is part of the game report on the Falcon site.

RF nine deep, probably the strongest ever in that regard.

WW will be the toughest road test so far.

Pointers had no trouble whatsoever in beating Oshkosh tonite. The game was ragged at the start and I've never seen so many traveling calls made in a game. The crowd didn't need to get off their hands in this one to fire up the team. Nice to see Point hit their free throws. Oshkosh will have problems winning more than 3-4 league games if they continue to play this way. Besides the Pointers winning, I also won tonight. It wasn't the Megamillions jackpot, but I took home the 50-50 raffle ;D ;D ;D I hope the IRS doesn't monitor this page :D ::)
