It looks like two losses can at least tie for the WIAC title. Whatcha think?

Two could win it.  Thought the Falcons would lose at Whitewater and they didn't.  Point will need to beat them at Quandt to have any shot.  Falcons end the season with three roadies...Point, La Crosse and Platteville.  Prior to their tour, they host Whitewater.  River Falls had slim wins over La Crosse (6) and Platteville (3), so they'll be tough.

Two losses (or one, or zero) will definitely win the conference (or at least tie, with 2 losses, like FF said).  It can't not win the conference, because that's the current loss total of the second place team, Point.

I personally don't think that any more than 3 losses will win the title, because I don't see RF going 4-4 the rest of the way out.

I think that it will come right down to the end... especially with the schedule that RF has, but it's an up-hill battle for everybody else, that's for sure.

I have a gut feeling that Platteville is going to beat WW tomorrow.  I haven't seen WW play yet in person, but they have taken both Point and RF out of their system in the last two games. I dont see any reason why they wont do the same to WW.

I truly felt like I was watching a Bo Ryan coached team on Saturday. Forced River Falls into a half court game and played tremendous defense.

Chas Cross is going to be a very good player someday, I think this was the first conference game (that ive seen) where the loss of Wade Guerin really hurt this team. The win against Hamline being the other, Carl Hipp is a beast.

Hipp is an interesting player.  He doesn't look like all that much but then you watch him play and you can see that he's a very good player.  He had some problems with Davis's size advantage but we were lucky in that he was in foul trouble most of the game and eventually fouled out so he wasn't on the floor down the stretch.

I agree that Cross is going to be good--better than Hipp is now by the time Cross is a senior. But a Ryan coached team? Not close to any of his P. teams I saw. I wonder if any Ryan team ever had 19 turnovers. Fifteen of those came from the the three seniors, Allen, Allen, and Wall, each with five. Both teams looked sloppy, and not all because of good defense, except in the case of the Falcons in the last three minutes. It was one of the poorest performances I've seen for the Falcons, and may have been that for P. Neither team was mentally sharp. RF just plain missed chances to run because open guys down court did not get seen.

That doesn't mean P won't beat WW. The form chart often goes out the window when those two play.

Stout is getting blown away. i think there down about 40.
Dear Eddie,
Your 5 in 5 out subbing pattern sucks!  This game should prove that to you.  When your only giving guys 3 minutes taking them out and putting a new 5 in from the time the game starts you allow none of your players to get into the flow of the game!  Watching the game tonight its like all the kids know no matter what they do good or bad a new five is going to be put in after a few minutes so it looks like everyone is trying to get there's cause they know there going to be coming out.  You can't predetermine your subbing patterns you need to COACH and sub according to who's doing what.  Stout should have never won this game they shot horrible but HORRIBLE coaching made this the embarrassing loss that it is!  Eddie needs to shorten his bench to 7 or 8 and ride his best players.  Read Stouts season preview he says himself there not deep. Then why is he playing 12 or 13 guys?  Its time for him to figure it out cause Stout is not this bad!  Eddie needs to change or Stout needs a change cause this is disgusting!   :'(

Oshkosh will have problems winning more than 3-4 league games if they continue to play this way.
Safe to say one game was a bit of an over-reaction? ;)

Now I can't give an in-depth opinion because I haven't seen them play live recently, but it appears that they have been playing much better ball.  It wouldn't surprise me to see them finish with as many as 6-7 wins in WIAC play.  I would like to think that however they do finish this season, it would be something they could build on with nearly everyone coming back next season, as Wittwer is the only senior that sees any playing time.

I never really thought that Oshkosh would beat La Crosse... but I was right with this possibility:

Just throwing out one scenario... if WW, Point, and Oshkosh win, then we'll have this:

RF - 8-0
Point - 6-2
WW - 5-3
EC - 3-5
Platte - 3-5
LaX - 3-5
Osh 3-5
Winner of Sup/Stout 3-5.

That's a 5 teams vying for 3 spots in the WIAC tourney who are all under .500 and can't be thrilled with how the first half of the league has gone.

It's all just one big muddled up mess (even more-so if Point and/or WW lose on Wed) with one thing very clear... RF is firmly in control at this point.

Muddle up mess indeed!

This is definitely a 3 horse race now... if that.

Based on the way they played in Point. But beating LX on the road for an actual winning streak is obviously an improvement.

frodotwo

Point spanked EC in a game not as close as the final score would indicate. At one point during the first half Pointer fans had to cheer when EC made a basket. I'm sure EC never thought they would play this badly, but there you go. Point's free throw shooting was again terrible. Concentration may have been lacking due to the score, but they won't go far in the tourneys shooting like that.

Unless they hold their opponents to 2 field goals in a half, like they did in the first half tonight...
