Prior to the game the Superior staff advised us that he did not make the trip.  There was also a number change so maybe that's how it got messed up.  I noticed that Hjeter is listed as #32 on Superior's website and Charlton wore that jersey in our game and played 14 minutes.

Hopefully the Hawks can take care of business on the road against the struggling Titans and Blue Devils this week before the big game against Point in Whitewater.

Before that, Point has a tough one against River Falls on the 21st. It'll be interesting to see how the standings shake out the next week-and-a-half.

Whitewater up to #5 in the most recent rankings.  Point up to #11.

River Falls has also again received some votes in the poll with 16.

Point has a tough stretch here... they play their 3rd of three on the road at Platteville, then host RF (we all know how that one turned out last time) and then they go to WW... who, by the way, hasn't lost all year except to the Pointers.

As Point Special pointed out, they also have Platteville on Wednesday.  Road games in conference are always tough.  Oshkosh and Stout aren't that good, but you never know what can happen.  The Titans did take the Falcons into two overtimes early in the season.

"Aren't that good" is awfully generous. Stout is bad and Oshkosh manages to be worse. The whole "you never know what can happen" thing is the Titans only hope of getting a win this year. I've seen nothing substantial on the court that makes me believe they'll win another game. All they have to hang onto is the fact that it is hard to go 0-16, it just is, even for a bad team. Does anyone know if a team has ever gone winless in WIAC play?

One thing is true about Stout... they're always going to play hard.  Eddie has a knack for putting a few surprises and getting the most out of his players, even when they're overmatched.

Our memories are pretty short if we don't remember two years ago... when he took a team that was 4-7 and brought them on a 12-3 run, beating Whitewater and Point (both ranked in the top 6) in back to back games before losing in the conference tournament.

I think that Stout showed against UWSP that they can hang... though the injury bug has perhaps brought them even further behind the 8 ball...

I'm never all that confident when we're playing in the Kolf Center.  There's just something about that place.

The answer to the question of whether a team has ever gone without a win in conference play is yes.  Checking the all time standings dating back to the 1967-68 season shows that it's happened three times.  All  three conference winless seasons belong to Superior most recently in the 2005-06 season.  The other two times were 1984-85 and 1989-90.  There have been ten times when a team has only won once and fifteen times in which the last place team recorded just two wins.  Unfortunately for the Yellow Jackets they show up quite a few times in those numbers as well.

Point is coming up to a difficult stretch.  If we don't control the glass we will struggle.  We have yet to have any consistent bench presence.  That could be a problem especially if we get into foul trouble.

You bring up a point that I'm sure no one here thinks about much, but I do. With the poor history and tradition that UWS has for basketball, it has been pretty encouraging to see how they have started to turn things around in the past 4-5 years. In the Hill/Smith/Culy/Roeder era they made 3 appearances in the conference semi-finals. The last 4 years they were exactly .500, which compared to the rest of the league isn't great, but compared to their history I'm sure is a solid improvement showing, showing some consistency to winning more. Between Hill, Smith and Culy, the three were all in the top 10 for all-time scoring at UWS, as well setting other school and WIAC records. Now we look at this year, and Siverling has a team that lost 4 starters and had very little meaningful experience outside of Aalfs and Ritchie, and he has the Yellowjackets in 4th place! Granted the league is down this year, but I just am so happy to see that the program is going in the right direction and hopefully they can continue to improve and stay consistent. I'm glad you posted about UWS having the only 3 winless conference seasons, it gave me a great excuse to go on a rant for you all :D :D :D

I obviously didn't mean any disrespect when I felt Oshkosh and Stout aren't very good.  Their records prove it with only one win between them (Stout beating Oshkosh).  I'm always nervous playing Oshkosh and going up to Stout can be a tough task for us.

Being a little biased against Eddie in some sorts, this quote gets me going a little (No disrespect).  I saw that year a little differently than the way you describe it. After starting 4-7, 0-4 in conference, it was more like Eddie handing the game of basketball over to his experienced players to just play with the fast break style of ball.If you look at all the experience they had they just "played basketball" and had fun doing it. If you want to say Andrist has a "knack" for surprises how about mentioning 2005-2006 when he clearly had the most talented team in the conference, probably the country, and still managed to lose 7 games, also the 2nd round of the NCAA's. Although a great season overall, I think most would agree with the line-up they had it was more of a disappointment.

I give Stout the fact they do play hard and to the final buzzer every game, even when they are losing by 30. One good thing Eddie does do is allow players to play the game they know how and doesnt always try to "overcoach", although sometimes individual players dont allow a team to flow with that open philosophy.

With that being said Im excited to see the full team, or whats possible of the full team, to get back in action and string together a few wins (or at least get a big spoiler win) :P

Sorry for "getting you going a a little"!  :'( :-\ ;) ;D

I like Stout, they're a likeable team.  They have had good players on their team.  It's been a tough year for them this season, for sure.  I like Eddie and I enjoy visiting Johnson Fieldhouse for those double-headers.
