GT--Who's a better all  around point guard than Kimble? I haven't seen Pville or Superior yet, but so far I have not seen a p.g. better than BK, "Caly" as he's known by his team mates.

BW--when's Davis coming back?

Davis's status is day to day.  We need him back but we also have to look at the big picture so we can't rush him back just because it's Point.  Hopefully he'll be ready but if he isn't we'll just have to play with what we've got.

Dan Tillema - SP
John Flanigan - OSH
Brett Stangel - PL
Wade Guerin - RF
Al Chery - LC

SURPRISE TEAM

Eau Claire - only 3 wins last year and they have a rookie head coach.  Picked 8th this year.

REGULAR SEASON CHAMPION - Whitewater (I would've picked them even before Point lost to River Falls last night)

Most of awards seem to be a no brainer so far this season so I cant really disagree with many of your picks.......

All Conference

Davis- WW
Aalfs- Sup
Manor- RF
T. Tillema- SP
D. Tillema- SP
Flanigan- OSH
Chery- LC
Stangel- PL
Knoble- WW
Peterson- EC or Guerin- RF (Think Wade will cause he's a senior)

I think WW will get 2 All Conference guys if they continue to win.

Eau Claire is playing well and is having a much better season, but Im surprised LC is 4-5 as well after losing "the man" (Mane of course).   8-)

I honestly haven't seen many teams play.  I've been known to be a stats guy and Brian Kimble has the stats to back up your statement.  I think that Tyler Tillema rivals Kimble's stats, if you consider T2 a point guard.  I don't think Gio or Hass are point guards on the team.

Kimble has an 85:46 assist to turnover ratio.  He also has 30 steals.  Kimble is averaging 9.1 pts and 4.1 rebs a game.  His role with River Falls, though a point guard, is different than Tillema's.  Manor and Guerin shot substantially more than Kimble, while Ollie White has a few more than Kimble.

Tyler Tillema has an 69:54 assist to turnover ratio.  He comes in with a comparable 28 steals.  Unlike Kimble, Tillema leads the team in scoring at 17.6 a game and averages 5.2 (good for a tie for 2nd on the team).  He and his brother have shot quite a bit more than the rest of the team (189 and 191, respectively, as compared to Brezinski with 141 in 3rd place).

If he played the whole season, there's a possibility that Erik Olson from Stout would have better numbers than both Kimble and Tyler Tillema.  His numbers come in at 64:31 with 26 steals.  Seven players on Stout have shot between 87-96 times with Olson coming in at 95.  Ragland has 119 in 13 games and Oman has 107 in just 7 games.  Olson's 95 shots have come in 12 games.  Like Kimble, he's not the #1 or #2 scoring option on his team.  Oman and Ragland, and even Ciolkosz and Steve Pax have averaged more points.  Ironically, all four of them have not played the full season for one reason or another.  Olson averages 7.5 pts and 3.3 rebs a game.

I did think about Kimble when I made my list.  But, if you're comparing Kimble and Tyler Tillema, I think a big difference is that Tyler actually has an outside shot of winning Player of the Year, behind Manor and Davis, while Kimble doesn't.

Stats don't mean everything, of course.  Last year, for example, I thought for sure Oshkosh's Flanigan would've received 1st team honors ahead of Nick Krull.  Trust me, I loved Krull and he meant a lot to Point's success, but I didn't think he had the "numbers" to put him ahead of Flanigan, who was in the top 5 in scoring and rebounding.

La Crosse was also just 9-7 with "the man".  They're 4-5 right now.  Eau Claire has already surpassed last year's conference win total.

GT--no, Kimble would not replace T. Tillema. Did you see the RF/Point game? The Point announcers were high on Kimble, esp. in the opening 10 minutes. I saw Stout at RF, and nobody stood out that nite for Stout. And I guess there is no position classification when all conference is picked. It's hard to get noticed unless a player's average is at least ten ppg, but I think all around play should be considered.

Stout: 41
WHITEWATER: 56

The WARHAWKS scored first on a free throw by Luke Noble and made a 10-2 run to start the game.  Stout rallied and gained their only lead of the game 15-14 with 9:44 remaining in the first half.  An old fashion three point play by Alex Edmunds put the WARHAWKS back on top and the lead was extended to a high of nine points before the half ended with the WARHAWKS on top 35-28.  Noble was 4 of 6 from the floor and Eric Bryson was 4 of 5 to lead the WARHAWKS with 11 and 10 points respectively as the team shot 50% from the floor.  Noble also had 5 rebounds.   Alex Oman's 11 points led the Blue Devils who shot 48% as a team.  Stout cut the lead to four points in the first minute and a half of the second half before going stone cold from the field.  The Blue Devils went 3 of 18 (17%) from the floor (1 of 7 three pointers) and scored just 13 points in the second half.  The WARHAWKS held a double digit lead for the final eight minutes of the game.

Edmunds scored 17 of his 24 points in the second half to lead all scorers.  Noble finished with 12 and Bryson 13.  Alex Merg had a team high 3 assists.  Edmunds also had a game high 5 steals and Quardell Young added 4.

Oman finished with 14 points and Tim Butima added 13.  Erik Olson had a game high 4 assists.

I never implied Kimble would REPLACE Tillema.  It wouldn't be a straight swap on the AC list.  I'm not dissing Kimble at all.  Nick Krull made 1st team All Conference last year and I don't think he was anywhere near 10 ppg.

GT--poor choice of words on my part. I knew you did not mean T.T. would replace Kimble.

Badger Warhawk--when will Davis be back?

Huge win for the Falcons at Quandt! That place is good for 10-15 points for UWSP on a nightly basis, visiting teams just don't win there.

Point had won 29 in a row... It was a school record and I believe the longest in the country.

All good things must come to an end I guess!

Falcons  beat Pointers 82-75 in o.t. for first win in SP in years. Manor 26 on 14/15 f.t., Kimble 12, Guerin 13 (tho he did not start for unknown reason). T. Tillema 22 for SP. Both Dan T. and Kimble fouled out. Rbds. 36 for RF, 34 for SP. Lead changed hands 11 times.

This game was pretty much just a heavy weight fight... it was a blow by UWSP followed by a blow by UWRF.  Neither team was really able to take control throughout until RF was able to get to the line early in the OT and take a lead... and then the shots just wouldn't fall for SP.

Both teams had opportunities.  SP missed two front-ends of 1 and 1's earlier in the second half (they were in the bonus with about 10 minutes left in the half) and then, up 1 with 34.1 left, they fouled (Guerin...?  I don't remember who), and he hit 1 of 2 to tie the ball game.

So, Point came down and ran some offense... and Ty Tillema drove and gave a bounce pass to Brezinski... who was open as the defense collapsed... and it went right through his hands and his legs with 3 second left.  RF got a decent look (much better than I would have hoped they'd get!) that caromed off the rim and they had to play the extra session.

Point just really doesn't match up too well with RF.  They're pretty interchangeable with their pieces inside and they were able to use their size advantages to get a ton of looks in deep.  That caused Point to foul to prevent easy baskets... and it ultimately had a big impact on the game.  Both Dan Tillema and Trevor Hass had to sit in the second half as they got their 3rd fouls early... and then their 4th fouls as well, with DT ultimately fouling out in the first or second possession of OT.

Given the opportunities, it was tough to see Point drop that game and for the home winning streak to end... on Alumni day of all days.  Gotta get back at it, though, as WW looms on Wednesday.
