RF "steals one" at home, 58-57. Anderson's 3 w/5 seconds left did it. Manor 22, White 13 and Ritchie 14, Peterson 13 were tops for Jackets. Byrne, though he got only 3 rbds and 5 points (approx.) was an intimidator inside, causing many a Falcon miss from short range. Superior will cause big headaches for all who play them.

Great win tonight for UWSP!  UWO is a pretty good team without a win.  JB had a monster game, TT certainly helped.  We still have no inside game outside JB -- we continue to fail to cultivate any bench presence.  Richards seems to be a bull in a China closet -- can anyone tell me what he brings?  My main concern is with 5.6 seconds left why didn't we foul someone so they could not get a good shot at tying the game or winning it with an "and one".  They had three good looks at the final shot!  Why not foul and give them only two shots and some time off the clock?  Insights welcomed.

There's a decent debate in the coaching community about that and even a few statistical analyses that have been done that "prove" you should foul in that situation...

I think that the pervading thought on the issue is that you want to make your opponent make plays to tie the game... If you put them on the FT line, they're unguarded and can make the first FT and have a much higher percentage shot be able to tie you after the intentional miss.

I think that most coaches would just as soon let the clock keep running in a situation like that and MAKE the opponent make a great play, rather than stopping the clock and extending the time of the game, inevitably giving your opponent more chances to make plays.

Great night by JB... one of the best shooting performances in UWSP history.  The UWSP records only show Joe Zuiker's 9/9 performance from 2001... but JB made at least his first 7 in the first half alone and was something like 13/14 down the stretch in the second half.

Couple that with the near-triple-double by Tyler Tillema and an overall shooting percentage of nearly 60% and you'd think it would be a blow-out...

But Oshkosh was lighting it up from 3 early... they were 9/15 in the first half... but then shot 3/23 in the final 25 minutes.  Even so, it was quite a battle.

I didn't get a chance to watch or listen to the game... but there was something very odd in the live-stats that carried over to the official stats too.

Dylan Wurtz had 5 fouls listed on the live stats towards the end of regulation and throughout OT...

But he played right up until the end.

So either the book missed something or there was a stat error (probably the latter).  Strange that this would show up on the official stats though!

Mr. Ypsi

And there is always the matter of getting the ball inbounds successfully, even if they simply make the FTs.  Weirdest game I ever saw was about 50 years ago in Peoria: Bradley trailed by 7 with about 12 seconds left, and won in regulation.  (And, remember, this is before the 3-point shot.)  They scored, then stole 3 consecutive inbounds passes and scored on each.

I was about 11 or 12 at the time, but will NEVER forget the crowd reaction (not to mention the players and coaches of both teams)!  Such a finish may well NEVER happen again, but would a coach want to risk ONE steal of an inbounds pass to lose?  (Certainly the Pistons wouldn't - 87 or 88 playoffs, Larry Bird steals the inbounds pass with 4 seconds left, flips it to I forget who (Dennis Johnson?), Pistons lose by one after already celebrating the win.)

It was Dennis Johnson.

I don't get our being ranked third in the region but I guess that's the way it goes.  It's neat that the WIAC has all three top spots and if it holds course we should get all three into the post season.

Though it didn't start out that way the WARHAWKS pulled off a convincing 77-58 win on Bo Ryan Court in Platteville.  Both teams shot well in the first half (WW: 58%, Platt: 52%) as the game was tied five times and the WARHAWKS largest lead was six while Platteville's was three.  Lucas Burn's three-pointer as time expired in the first half gave the WARHAWKS their second six point lead in the half 33-27 and gave them momentum that they would carry into the second stanza.  Chris Davis led both teams with 11 points and 4 rebounds.  After trailing by nine points Platteville would cut the lead to a second half low of three points in the first three minutes.  However the WARHAWKS responded and gradually rebuilt the lead until a Quardell Young layup and free throw with ten and half minutes remaining created a double digit  51-40 differential that was the closest the Pioneers would get the rest of the way.

The WARHAWKS shot 62% from the floor in the second half finishing at 59% for the game.  Platteville cooled off in the second half shooting 38% to finish at 45%.  The WARHAWKS held a 30-19 edge in rebounding which contributed to a 42-36 scoring advantage in the paint and a 11-5 edge in second chance points.  Bench scoring and free throws were significant factors with the WARHAWKS 32-17 and 22-13 advantages respectively

Eric Bryson went 8-10 including 2-2 three pointers from the field and had a career high 21 points.  Chris Davis also finished with 21.  Both players also had a game high 6 rebounds.  Luke Knoble and Young also scored in double figures with 10 points apiece.  Alex Merg dished out a game high 5 assists to go with his 8 points a pair of steals.

Chas Cross led Platteville with 16 points, 5 rebounds and a game high 3 steals.  B.J. Litz had 11 points while Brett Stangel and Jake Manning each had 10.  Platteville was just 1 of 10 from beyond the arc.

Anyone know what happened to Oshkosh's Jade Royston?  I went to the Point game at Kolf on Wednesday looking forward to yelling, "That guys's on my fantasy team!"  He was nowhere to be found.  He wasn't on the roster at the game and wasn't on the online roster on the team page.  He started and played 28 minutes up in Canada (Superior) last weekend, so not sure what happened.  Did he forget his passport and border patrol wouldn't let him back into the U.S.?

I thought I saw someone say that an Oshkosh player just became a father... not sure which one, but if Royston is the only one not playing right now, chances are it's him.

On Flanigan: Twitter suggests that he was with his significant other as she gave birth to their son.
https://twitter.com/#!/JadeRoyston You'll have to scroll down a bit to find it but Royston says something about John being a Daddy. Known for a while that he was expecting.

Saw this too, sounded like it was John, not Jade.

Blame it on the stats crew guy with the fat fingers....  He inadvertently punched in #32 (Wurtz) for a foul when it was supposed to be #22 (Flanagan.)

You would think with the advances in technology, something would alert the operator that there is a player on the court that has five fouls.

No, but he did have to sit out a year per conference rules.

If you play at least two seasons at one school and transfer to another the next season, you have to sit out that year.

You still get the remaining years of your eligibility, though (I think the rule is 10 semesters to play 8 still).
