Old School....
I really like your insight about Point bball.....can Krull and Hicklin get Point back to the title game (ala the days of Kalsow and Bennett)??

Nice to see a new poster on the board...and it doesn't hurt that you're a Pointer fan (and River Falls(?))! lol.

Anyway, Krull, Hicklin and Bauer are the obvious keys, but it's more of a team effort this year.  I don't want to say the last two years weren't a team effort, but everyone knew when we needed a basket, it went to Kalsow or Bennett.  Hicklin has that rare midrange jumper that seems to have disappeared in college hoops (though Bouche showed he can hit them too) and Rortvedt is also a key in my opinion.  I guess he's the new Bennett this year.

Why did Rortvedt sit out last year?

When you have four senior starters in front of you and another senior (Kyle Grusczynski, who happens to play the same position as you, shooting guard), there isn't much option to play or not play!

Brian Beamish plays well, but I wish he'd look for the shot a little more.

I totally agree!  I posted that during my rambling of the Edgewood game (or right after that).  He was 0-3 from the field, but I had no problem him shooting it.  Swampgoon and I both applauded the fact he actually shot the ball!  He definitely needs to shoot more.  In my opinion, I think he's a little gun shy, especially in those close games.  I've been told 100% of the shots you don't take, you aren't going to score on.  I've probably said that before...but if you're reading Beamish, shoot the ball! lol.  :P

Stout against Superior on Wednesday and then Point on Saturday.  I don't know what it is, but I suddenly got this nauseating feeling in my gut about Wednesday night...    shouldn't be much of  a game...  but

Hopefully, it's just gas pains!

BDB -   where you hiding?     Oh, probably over on that MIAC board searching for more of those warm, fuzzy karma points.    I'm outta here. Off to my daughters game.  Hopefully, Stoutguy isn't playing ref again!

Take a couple rolaids, Rico.

After what happened at the Johnson against River Falls, there is no way that a BlueDevil let down will happen against Souptown.

Some in state D3 news:

Josh Hinz of Beloit College scored 50pts and had 36rebs in a recent game.  Of course, it was against........ Grinnell.

Mr. Downtown

Being a former Fort Atkinson Alumn myself, its nice to see how Hinz is doing in Beloit. Seriously, he had the talent to start on any WIAC team...and yes, I do mean ANY team (including the defending national champions, Stevens Point).

Anyways, school is starting back up again, and with a TV show (for those in the Oshkosh area, Inside The Locker-Room will be on 9:30pm weeknights Ch.66 for those that have cable; new shows on Thursday's) and my radio show...so my postings will be limited to what everyone is looking for:

CONFERENCE SEEDINGS

All I have to say, the men's side is easier then the women's side. If you want to see how complicated it is...just hop on the other side.

1 Stout        10-3
8 Eau Claire  3-9

4 La Crosse   8-5
5 Oshkosh     8-5

3 Stevens Point  9-3
6 Platteville         5-7

2 Whitewater      9-3
7 River Falls         4-9

I don't want Point to play Platteville...or Whitewater, or Oshkosh, or Stout or even La Crosse.  ;D  I'm up in the air vs. River Falls or Eau Claire.

OS,

Sorry, but I don't think you can win the AQ by beating Superior three times! ;D

EC has beaten Finlandia 4 out of 5 times in the last two years to try to garner some respect.  Why not Point over EC 3 times?

I'm sure Oshkosh would gladly trade places with Point, and be able to play one game at home, instead of having to win three straight on the road (unless there are upsets of course.) ;D

T.F.Guy--yeah, the Falcons compete--most of the time. Did you see the Stout game at RF when RB benched the starters except for James with over ten minutes left? They did not compete that night.

If you actually lose to Finlandia, it's hard to gain any respect.  ;)

We did beat Oshkosh four times in one season a couple of years ago when we played them down in Vegas and then also in the conference tourney...not that I want to do that again!  ;D

The NCAA's regional rankings come out tomorrow.  Here is my uneducated guess using the QOWI and regional records as barometers (conference leaders in bold).

1. Occidental 9-1, 11.444
2. Puget Sound 12-1, 9.833
3. Williamette 13-2, 9.846
4. Wartburg 15-3, 10.235
5. Stout 14-3, 10.063
6. La Crosse 16-5, 10.400
7. St. Thomas 15-5, 9.667
8. Carleton 14-4, 9.563

Do the rats have to find their own transportation to the road games or does TVD let them ride along on the team bus?  :P

OS,

I don't know what you did to make the quote come out that way - the Finlandia comment was by stoutguy in response to me taunting you (ruling out wanting to play basically everyone who will be in the tourney) by saying "Sorry, I don't think you can win the AQ by beating Superior three times!  ;D"

You want the AQ?  You'll have to beat SOME of those teams (including ALL of them you end up facing)!  But neither Superior or Finlandia will get you squat! ;)

[I'm confident you didn't intentionally do anything to misquote me, but posters beware - apparently direct quotes CAN be phony.  Pat, any idea how that happenned?]
