laxeagles1: Yes, I was at the Oshkosh game, and you are correct that our crowds have gotten bigger and louder. We have a ways to go to match the 2000 plus we saw at Quandt, however.

OS,

Sorry, but I don't think you can win the AQ by beating Superior three times! ;D

EC has beaten Finlandia 4 out of 5 times in the last two years to try to garner some respect. Why not Point over EC 3 times?

Sorry, Ypsi.  Too much deleting.  My bad.   ;)

OS,

Not a problem - I was sure it wasn't a deliberate misquote.  Just made me nervous that 'quotes' may NOT be quotes.  Though I'm pretty confident that anyone misquoted will probably squawk about it.

chmarx, I applaud you.

It is a scary thought that not only what you read, but even what you 'see' MAY not be true.  If I had the technical savvy, I'm sure I could SHOW Jerome Bettis taking out the knees of Shaun Alexander (even though I doubt they were ever on the field at the same time!), or that Super Bowl MVP Hines Ward had a blatant late hit on on Matt Hasselbeck (even though, again, they would never have been on the field at the same time).  The internet is obviously wonderful; it is also terrifying.

Everything I say is obviously true, but watch out for those other guys!

Yes, I am squawking.  I wanted credit for my cute Finlandia comment.  But let's not make Pat mad.  We are asking him to be on our show Saturday morning.

Thought I would be able to sleep in since Jack wasn't going to be on (right?), but I guess I have to get up anyway!  What time would he be on?  Taking Jack's slot?  :)

OS,

You mean being able to listen to stoutguy ramble on about the hardwood wars in the Big Rivers Conference isn't enough to get you out of bed by 8am?  :)

I am not sure of the time, but Pat is typically scheduled for around 9am.

I have not talked to Jason yet, but his plans were to have both.  I'll let you know by Friday what the times are.

RF 59-57 over EC. Zylstra w/28, Hoeg w/22 lead Falcons. Beyer w/13, Ottney w/12, Bardon w/10 lead EC.

WW 79-64 over Point and Stout by 15-20 over Superior. No Lax/Plat score yet.

MESSAGE TO RECRUITS:  IN DOUBT? ENROLL AT STOUT. DON'T CARE? GO TO EAU CLAIRE. AT A LOSS? TRY LACROSSE. FEELIN' OUTTA JOINT? YOUR PLACE IS POINT. DON'T LIKE THE REST? DO WHAT'S BEST!

GOT BALLS? PLAY FOR THE FALLS!

Eagles not at the top of their game tonight, but have enough gas to outpace Platteville by 60-55. Joe "Windex" Werner cleaned the glass for 14 rebounds to lead the way. The win ices a winning season in WIAC play for only the 2nd time in 20 years or so. The 18th win overall ties the 18 wins recorded in the 87-88 season. Lastly, it's great to see them win even when they aren't especially sharp. This wouldn't have been the case the past few years.

Greek Tragedy

Point gets spanked tonight.  Not sure if I want to read the game report from UWSPBandit, frodotwo or Point Special.  Sounded kind of bad from what Swampgoon said.  :'(

On a side note, the regional rankings came out and here's the West Region ranking

1. Occidental 9-1 16-2
2. Puget Sound 12-1 17-3
3. Wisconsin-Stout 14-3 17-4
4. Wisconsin-La Crosse 15-5 17-5
5. Wartburg 15-3 17-4
6. Willamette 15-3 14-6
7. Carleton 12-4 15-5
8. Wisconsin-Whitewater 11-5 15-5

Occidental and Puget Sound, I think, lead their respective conferences, so we have to hope they win their conference tourneys.  If Stout or La Crosse falter prior to winning the conference tourney, they'd be next in line.  Just a thought as I'm a WIAC fan and Pointer fan...the latter first, of course!  :D

I agree with Brian that La Crosse toughed it out tonight when they weren't at their best (except Warner).

It occurred to me while driving home that this team finished last in the conference last year.  The loss at Point Saturday was disappointing, but we've taken a giant step to respectability.

Greek Tragedy

Current Standings
1. Stout (11-3) vs. Stevens Point, @ La Crosse
2. Whitewater (10-3) vs. River Falls, @ Oshkosh, @ Eau Claire
3. Stevens Point (9-4) @ Stout, @ Platteville, vs. Superior
4. La Crosse (9-5) @ River Falls, vs. Stout
5. Oshkosh (8-5) vs. Eau Claire, vs. Whitewater, vs. Platteville
6. Platteville (5-8) vs. Superior, vs. Stevens Point, @ Oshkosh
7. River Falls (5-9) @ Whitewater, vs. La Crosse
8. Eau Claire (3-10) @ Oshkosh, @ Superior, vs. Whitewater
9. Superior (0-13) @ Platteville, vs. Eau Claire, @ Stevens Point

Stout holds their own destiny, but it's not an easy one.  They've lost to both of their remaining opponents, including at home to La Crosse.  Can they return the favor?

Whitewater's biggest game is at Oshkosh, though obviously no one can be overlooked...ok, maybe Superior!  ;D

Point has a huge road to climb and needs help to claim part of the conference title.  Tough game at Stout this weekend and then they need to avenge their home loss to Platteville.

La Crosse has gonna beware of the bear trap game at River Falls before hosting Stout.

Oshkosh has all three games at home, which is good news since they went on the road and lost three in a row.  On a positive note, Oshkosh beat all three remaining opponents on the road earlier in the season.

Platteville is out of it, but could spoil plans for Point and Oshkosh.

River Falls could also play spoiler since they've beaten Oshkosh at home and went to Menomonie and won.  Watch out Whitewater and La Crosse!

I don't see Eau Claire or Superior scaring anyone, aside from the Blugold trip to "Canada".  Superior will try to avoid 0-16 (though they did beat Point on the last day of the conference season two years ago in Quandt!)
