A HUGE congrats to, "Coach Of The Year,"  Pat Miller and the BB boys.  Sooo happy for all of them and their fans.  Had to get old watching the football team getting all the glory year after year.  Now they get their own celebration!   What an amazing comeback!  It's a great day to be a WARHAWK!!!!

I was at the game and at the 2007 football game at Lacrosse and I put them on par as the best comeback victories that I have witnessed.

Congrats to the Warhawks on capping a great season by winning the championship. It certainly seemed to be different mentality this year for them, changing from a team that always relied on physical talents to one that played team ball and great defense. I thought the game was over when they were down 18 so I switched to the D! HS game for awhile, & then when I switched back to see if they were down 25, it was a 10 point game. Reminiscent of the game during the 2010 season where Point led by 15 at the half at home vs WW and the 'Hawks came back to win, but this was certainly a bigger stage. I wish the broadcast would have lasted a little longer than 5 seconds after then end of the game though. Well, now the long wait until next season. Have to console myself with the thought that Point was the only team to go undefeated (2-0) against the national champs this season.  :D

Congrats to Whitewater.

I think some of those "phyiscal talents" needed to be used last night against a very athletic (from what I read) Cabrini team!

Great job.

The Year of the Warhawk continues!!!!!!

WOW!! I was minutes away from closing my computer in frustration. Boy, I'm glad I didn't. The amount of heart those boys showed was unbelievable. That final 10 minutes was unreal.

No argument here about Davis winning the POY. He seemed to be running on fumes down that stretch. He hit some HUGE shots.

...Now onto Baseball  ;)

A tip of the hat to UWW on their 2 national championship teams.  Quite an accomplishment!

Time for a upgrade on the side of that bus!!

After the game was over the bus driver used athletic tape and put 2012 under the basketball championships.  We all got a big charge out of it.  They still need to update the football line.

Also just to clear up a commonly held misconception the university does not own either of the two decked out buses. They are owned by the bus company.  The owner of whom just happens to be a proud UW-WHITEWATER grad.

According to Sports Information Director Tom Fick, Florida and Tennessee won national titles in basketball and football. UT did it with its women's team.

UW-Whitewater becomes the first school in Division III history to win the national football championship and a basketball (men or women) title in the same year.  The University of Florida (2006) is the only school in NCAA history -- any Division, to win football and men's basketball championship.  The University of Tennessee won FBS and women's basketball titles in 1998.

The above copy and paste is from todays D3 writeup of tonights game..

UWW is also only the second D3 school to own titles in both of the two major sports, football and men's basketball. Wittenberg (football titles in 1973 and 1975; hoops titles in 1961* and 1977) is the other school.

*Wittenberg's first hoops title was in the old NCAA College Division, which split into D2 and D3 in the early Seventies.

Only four schools have more than two men's basketball national championships.  Three of the four are WIAC programs (Stevens Point, Platteville and WHITEWATER.  The fourth is Greg's North Park Vikings who have the most national championships with five.

It was an incredible weekend.  The comeback win Saturday night made the 30 hour bus ride worth it.

What's most impressive about UWW's national championships is that they're the most widely-separated by age among the eight programs that have multiple copies of the Walnut and Bronze:

Scranton: 7 seasons (1976 and 1983)
North Park: 9 seasons (first in 1978, most recent in 1987)
Potsdam State: 5 seasons (1981 and 1986)
UW-Whitewater: 28 seasons (first in 1984, most recent in 2012)
UW-Platteville: 8 seasons (first in 1991, most recent in 1999)
Calvin: 8 seasons (1992 and 2000)
UW-Stevens Point: 6 seasons (first in 2004, most recent in 2010)
Washington (MO): 1 season (2008 and 2009)

Mr. Ypsi

Greg, I sure hope IWU is not deliberately waiting until 2026 for another title, just to beat out UWW! ;D

How many National championship head coaches also were players on a national championship team, i.e. Pat Miller  :)

Interesting note... while Florida and Tennessee have won national titles in both football and basketball in the same college year... since the football titles are not NCAA titles... UWW is the first school in any division to win both NCAA National Championships!
