I'd just like to use this forum to congratulate UWW for their National Championship. While neither is my favorite team in the conference I had a blast watching UWW win it this year and UWSP get it a few years ago. Speaks volumes about the conference.

Interesting note... while Florida and Tennessee have won national titles in both football and basketball in the same college year... since the football titles are not NCAA titles... UWW is the first school in any division to win both NCAA National Championships!

Another first ... (I'm guessing)

To go along with the football and men's basketball crowns, UWW also won this seasons men's and women's wheelchair basketball national championships (non-NCAA sponsored) a couple weeks ago - the men beating the U of Alabama in the championship game for their 10th national championship and the women over the U of Illinois for their 1st trophy!!

UW-Whitewater is shooting for ANOTHER national championship this coming weekend. The UWW women's gymnastics team is ranked No. 2 in the nation heading into the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Championships at SUNY-Brockport in Brockport, N.Y.

WARHAWKS finish the season ranked #1 in the final D3hoops.com Top 25.  River Falls #25, Stevens Point just outside at #28.

I know we won the national championship so I suppose this was a given but honestly I didn't expect it.

Pat, to your knowledge has any other D3 program finished the season as the #1 ranked football and basketball teams?

No other team has ever won the football and basketball title in D-III in the same academic year, no.

No other NCAA team has won the NCAA titles in football or basketball in the same academic year - note NCAA title, not national title like Tennessee and Florida football programs.

Thank goodness the BCS hasn't screwed up basketball, too.

UW-Whitewater claims ANOTHER national title over the weekend. The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater captured its first National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) championship by capturing the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association Championship yesterday at SUNY-Brockport in Brockport, N.Y.

Gymnasts are competing today in individual events and for All American status...

In addition to Whitewater's share of the national title with the College at Brockport, the WIAC was represented by two other top 5 finishers... Last year's winners, UWL, finished 3rd, while UWEC finished fifth...

Congrats to these teams, and we'll see if there are any individual event winners/All Americans after today!

Greek Tragedy

Just heard on Channel 6 News out of Milwaukee that Jared Jenkins is playing for the indoor franchise Milwaukee Mustangs.  Sports reporter Jen Lada will have a feature on him on the 9 pm news.  Too bad he didn't finish out his senior year at Stevens Point.  I think they would've had a great chance to repeat.  Good luck to him and maybe if I'm completely bored and have nothing to do, and get free tickets, I might go down to see him play.  No offense to Jared, but those Mustangs were hard to watch the last (and only) time I was down there at the Bradley Center.
