Van Dellen retires from UW-Oshkosh....

Let the speculation begin!!
Lance Randall?
Be well in retirement, TVD.

Gregory Sager

I wonder if TVD going into retirement as a coach will mean that T2K will come out of retirement as a poster.

I think T2K would have to get permission from the commish first! LOL

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Randall put his name in.

Preliminary list for UWO job (just assembling names for discussion. I realize someone who was a candidate for one job, won't automatically be a candidate for another)...

UWEC candidates from last year:
Brian Miller (MSOE head coach)
Todd Adrian (Edgewood head coach)
James Whitesell (former Loyola head coach)
Eric Gardow (Chiba, Japan head coach)

UWP candidates from 2009:
Will Ryan (North Dakota asst. coach)
Pat Murphy (Monroe HS head coach)
Lance Randall (St. Leo head coach)

Current WIAC assistants:
Tim Gaubatz (UWO asst. coach)
Lou Chapman (UWW asst. coach)
Kent Dernbach (UWSP asst. coach)

Other local head coaches:
Gary Grzesk (St. Norbert head coach)
David Buchanan (Carroll head coach)
Aaron Aanonsen (Lakeland head coach)
Joel DePagter (Lawrence head coach)

Aanonsen would be an excellent and realistic get for UWO. Other names I've heard, both former players, are Nate Miller and Dennis Ruedeger (sp?). I can't see Grzesk, Randall, or Adrian leaving their current jobs. Also I don't think UWO would hire Ryan. Of all the names you and I mentioned Aanonsen is the one that sticks out but there's no guarantee that he'd want to leave LC either.

Is it a bad thing that I don't feel strongly about any of the candidates that Just Bill listed above?

There are a couple that I NEVER want to see roaming the sidelines inside Kolf, but as far as the rest go, I feel pretty indifferent.

Personally (and selfishly) I hope they have no interest in Lou Chapman.  He's going to be a head coach someplace, sometime.  I just hope it isn't Oshkosh and it isn't for a while longer.

I don't know about that. UWO could be a real plum of a job, given the fact that it's in the WIAC and it has good resources. The WIAC would be a step up in terms of competition level and long-term potential than what St. Norbert or Edgewood can offer, although St. Leo, as a D2 school (and one located in a much more pleasant winter climate, to boot), is another story.

What about Jason Kalsow or Nick Bennett, both D1 assistants looking for a head coaching gig?

As noted on D3 hoops front page* - UWEC's Kyle Green to step down after one year at the helm:

*I didn't recognize him in the photo that accompanies the coaching carousel story, so I didn't click on the story there. My mistake....
