I heard from a source close to the UWEC Alumni Association that he was happy at EC but his wife left a very good job in the medical field and for some reason could not get a license to pratice in Wisconsin.

Former UW-Eau Claire coach Kyle Green has re-joined the coaching staff at Northern Iowa.

Shocking.

You would think that somebody in the UWEC family, if it was possible to accomplish, would have enough pull to help that process out.  I.E. it is the who you know not the what you know thing!

Did it ever occur to you that she may not be qualifed to practice in Wisconsin?  Some of you folks have a wildly inflated idea of the importance of WIAC basketball.

Heads up UWW fans. UW-Milwaukee might be coming after your AD again. They passed on him last time and failed. They might be coming back for a second chance.

Interesting.  I thought he made a mistake leaving UWL when he seemed to be turning the program around.

If she's qualified to teach/practice in Iowa then it is simply a licensing issue in Wisconsin.  Neither of us know the barriers that are/were preventing her from working but if those barriers were adminstrative in nature ... knowing people who know how to navigate those barriers is some times half the battle.  I would think UWEC have enough people who are connected that they could have assisted in that process.

Has nothing to do with an inflated importance of WIAC basketball.

You have to be smarter in Wisconsin than you do in Iowa.  She couldn't pass the Wisconsin boards.

Getting back to basketball.

Ken Koebl was quoted in today's La Crosse Tribune as saying that the recruiting probation hasn't affected his recruiting.

Why would it?  Some NCAA types might think it's a big deal but basically it's meaningless from a practical standpoint.  Koebl has to tell a recruit that they're on probation but can do everything that they could do before.

Now Kean U, that's a different story.  Their violations, though some were identical to LaCrosse's, were more numerous and significantly more severe.

Oliver Drake (Ashford University) is a finalist for the UWEC job..........he would be a great fit.

Four finalists announced. Two NathCon (who were finalists last time), one WIAC and one NAIA/former UWEC assistant.
