Warhawk,

You need to elaborate - only posters with enough posts are ALLOWED to applaud or smite (I don't recall whether or not Pat specified what that number was).

TBF probably does not have enough posts to even see the applaud and smite options, so would be REALLY confused!

Personally, I'm not in to smiting, though I have occasionally applauded!  ;D

Mr. Downtown

In this tragedy that is going on with the Hurricane, I noticed that now UW-Oshkosh is giving students that are affected by the hurricane free admission and room. It might not be much in the battle of fixing this mess, but at least its a hand extended from a school that including myself really didn't see this coming. I'm glad we are, seeing that these people need all the help they can get.

Mr. Ypsi

It has been heart-warming to see the response of MOST ordinary people and institutions to the tragedy - the offer you cite by UW-O has been made by AT LEAST dozens (perhaps even hundreds) of schools (both U of Michigan and Eastern Michigan among them)!

A heart-felt salute to them all!!

I see that my karma is going up and down quite often.  I'm glad....that means people are reading my posts and reacting to what is said.

How about this one......I don't care, unlike some people, what my karma number is.  If everybody wants to smite me and send me hurling into the negatives, that's fine.  Just as long as I don't get banned for having to low of a number.   ;D

My karma is my life.  Without it I am nothing.

I'll remember that when I reach the smiting age, whatever that may be.

I was wondering how these teams are going to be this year???

UW-River Falls

UW-LaCrosse

UW-Eau Claire

Have not heard too much on any of these teams, and was wondering about new comers and how they fit into the WIAC picture this season.

EC lost its top 3 players from last year in Archy, Drake and Jefferson.  These players scored the far majority of the team's points and Jefferson was one of the best defenders in the conference.  Dan Beyer and a D2 transfer should be playing this year after recovering from injuries and both missing almost the entire year.  Smith and Birkel will be back playing in the post.  The biggest concern for the Blugolds will be the point guard spot.  Overall, I see EC finishing with a worse record than last year, and will probably be battling Superior for last place.   :-[

A haiku for the smiters:

I seek good karma,
Denied by D3 Hoops board,
Do I deserve this?

Pat changes the board,
Immediately unrest,
Why must we all fight?

Not if you highlight it.

I'll post my sonnet this weekend, it is still a work in progress right now.

Greek Tragedy

This isn't the Midwest Conference page...

Please leave the haikus there.  ???

If you want to rap, I think that was the MIAC page.  ;)

Old School,

Is that where the rap is coming from? I always hear them playing "Johnny Be Good" over and over again.  :)

River Falls could be a bit of a surprise this year. I don't see them battling for the title, but they might have 2 of the top 5 shooters in the conference in Kossoris and Hoeg. Kossoris, while inconsistant at times, has the ability to really light it up, and Hoeg is a tough player who does everything well and is a great rebounder for his size.

They only lose Holt and Torrez, and Torrez hurt them more than helped them at times with his shot selection.

Scott Kelly and Muris "Vlade" Lucarevic looked OK at times and then dissappeared at times, but more help inside is needed.

The biggest hole is at the point. Ryan Thompson is a less than average WIAC point guard, and cannot keep up with guys like Fehernbach, Manchester, and Chandler.

This group reminds me of the 1999-2000 Falcons that were picked to do nothing, but had some talent and turned a few heads around the league. If they can get a point guard I think they will finish somewhere from 4th-6th and maybe surprise someone in the first round.
