The WARHAWKS defeated Northwestern by about 15 points or so last year in the first round of the post season.  Despite the margin of victory I thought that they were a pretty decent team.  I'm not sure who they returned off of that team but if it included some of their better players the Superior game doesn't really surprise me.

The BADGERS are going to struggle big time once the conference season gets underway.  I can see them at a sub .500 level in conference play this year.  I just don't think that this team is very good.

Maybe Tony Bennett will succeed Bo someday at Wisconsin. Bo's gonna be 65 three weeks from now. Not sure he wants to be coaching at 70. That is if they can pry Tony away from the Virginia.

Hey Fred Falcon.  Todd Strop sent a text today.  He said his life is so boring now that he isn't coaching that he has taken to working out at the gym in the afternoon with the likes of old farts like Fred Falcon.  What say you about that!  :-\

Greek Tragedy

Well, after Augustana took care of Platteville on Tuesday night, Oshkosh made it a game last night, falling by just a few.  In the Platteville game, Augustana lead by 16 at the break and held a sizable lead throughout most of the 2nd half, getting it to 20 a few times.  Platteville did chip away at that lead, cutting it to just 10 with about 5 minutes to go, but Augustana came out on top comfortably, 69-57.

On the other hand, Oshkosh actually lead by one at the break, 30-29.  The Titans were down eight 5 minutes into the game, but went on a nice run and took a seven point lead with 5 minutes to go before the break.  It was a back and forth 2nd half with Augustana pushing the lead to six late on.  Oshkosh did cut it to one with a minute to go, but that's as close as they'd get.

Though it's been noted that Augustana is a young team, picked 4th in the CCIW?, they are pretty good as their results show.  They beat NathCon South favorite Aurora, crushed MWC favorite St. Norbert and handled Platteville pretty easily.  If there ever is a nice loss, this could be one for Oshkosh, considering I thought they'd get blown out. Oshkosh got killed by St. Norbert. So, there's progress.

Interesting boxscore on that game too. The Titans got outrebounded by 25, but were only outshot by 3. They were also 11-25 from beyond the arc while Augie was just 1-14.

Fred.  I'm doing some Stout home games this year and also RF and EC games on road. Stop up at halftime and we can talk about any bench press max that has improved since then.

That subject will have to rise several levels to get to boring, but it could produce some smiles and head shakes. OK, just let me know when.

Don't suppose you are coming to Menomonie today but hope to talk to your radio guys this afternoon.  Was interviewing one of our Milwaukee kids and he told me he had no idea what Harris was doing in this league as he thought that he was a D1 athlete.  Look forward to seeing him.

ExBballer40--your contention that Pville is a Power Team based on its 5-1 record seems questionable. They have played at least 3 cupcakes so far, their only worthy opponent being Augustana. Maybe Goshen could be considered worthy, but the rest?

RF is better than I thought, but will have trouble vs. Pville today. I posted that they were over-rated a few days ago, but 4th or 5th now seems possible. They are probably too young to rise above that.

Who's your #4 team then, Stout?

I'll tell you after today  :) If RF wins, then I'll put them there. But, it's way too early to make predictions. Pville's 5 wins have been all at home. RF has yet to play at home.
