Don't suppose you are coming to Menomonie today but hope to talk to your radio guys this afternoon.  Was interviewing one of our Milwaukee kids and he told me he had no idea what Harris was doing in this league as he thought that he was a D1 athlete.  Look forward to seeing him.

It's Saturday, bowling night.  ;) :) :D ;D

No bowling today. :D   However I won't be driving to Stout.  I will be listening to the games and watching Todd Skrivseth's Monmouth Scots take on Beloit College.  Dragging Mrs BW with me.

Point beats Superior up in Canada today 79-68.  Tillema, I believe, ended up with 34...Peterson for Superior had 20 at half, ended with 26.  Was a close game throughout but Point hit free throws down the stretch to secure the win.

Point hit 24/25 free throws... pretty amazing performance.

By the way, Bronson Byrne is a big boy.

I'll tell you after today  :) If RF wins, then I'll put them there. But, it's way too early to make predictions. Pville's 5 wins have been all at home. RF has yet to play at home.

Platteville only wins by 26  ;)  River Falls scores 19 first half points.

#9 UWSP beats UW Superior 79-68

UW Super shot 57% in the first half and led by 3 at the half 37-34 and as many as 7 in the first half.

The Yellowjackets stayed hot in the second half and led 48-40 with just under 16 minutes left.

Point then went on a 9-0 run to take the lead 49-48. It was back and forth for a few possessions but SP retook the lead for good 53-51 on two Clayton Heuer FT's.

Point really turned up the D in the second half and they hit their free throws (24/25 for the game).

Tyler Tillema led all scorers with 34 (many from the line). Peterson for Superior had 20 at the half and ended up with 26.

And Bronson Byrne is still a big boy.

Exballer40--your statement that Pville is a power team looks a lot better now. RF clearly not ready for prime time today--too young and not expecting, so it seemed, the increase in ability of opponents when league play begins.

RF got outplayed in all phases today by Platteville, who looked like a top three team in the league to me.  Very solid and nice contributions from their bench, especially Cory Vaassen who had 7 offensive rebounds.  Platteville out rebounds RF 46-23 with 17 offensive boards.  RF shot 3/17 from three and 7/17 from the line.  Chas Cross had 21 points and showed good moves down low.  RF needs to improve their performance if they want to be competitive in the conference.

At the risk of losing a whole bunch of karma like I did the last time I mentioned WW, I will suggest that if WW is the best team in the league, then Stout could be competitive.  Took some big plays down the stretch by WW to pull this one out.  Stout played hard and well and I look for an upper division finish.

Greek Tragedy

The scary thing is that Whitewater was able to pull it out despite the fact that Darnell Harris went 1-11 and the team shot 35%.  Neither will probably happen too often this year.

Kudos to Austin Ryf for helping shut down Jerrod Peterson in the second half, which was the key to the win for Point. He was just too quick for Hass to guard and beat him off of screens for most of his first half points. Great job of coaching to make that adjustment. Tyler Tillema had a superb game and if he stays healthy will be on top of the short list for POY in the WIAC.  Made my first ever trip up to Canada and wasn't disappointed as Point played with a lot of heart after withstanding Peterson's hot hand. And yes Bronson Byrne is a really big boy!
