Top 25 is out.

http://d3hoops.com/top25/men/2012-13/week4

Point #5
Whitewater #6
Stout comes in at #23!

Point heads to #4 St. Thomas on Friday.

Augustana debuts at #22 at 9-1, their only loss is to Point.

Nice to see Stout break the top 25 finally. Their non-conference schedule at the beginning of the season wasn't very impressive, but they continue to win games against tough teams. Hope to see that continue through the break and back into conference play.

We don't -- too many conferences, since we'd have to rank 80-some instead of 25.

That can't be right, is it?  Aren't there just slightly over 400 teams (412 in 2010-2011), and many conferences have 8-10 teams.  Surely the correct number of conferences is closer to 50?

Hey sexist, women play basketball too!

800/10 = 80.

(Just kidding Chuck!)

Per the "Conferences" link on the main page, I count 44 mens conferences (if "Independent" counts as a conference).

According to Massey, the top two teams play on Friday night as Stevens Point travels to St. Thomas.

http://masseyratings.com/rate.php?lg=cb&yr=2013&sub=11620

And according to David Wilson's computer rating system, St. Thomas is #1 and Stevens Point is #5

The WIAC is the #1 conference, followed by the CCIW, UAA, and MIAC

Actually, John, good point!  Pat would probably (correctly, IMO) figure that if he did it for the men's conferences, he would also have to do it for the women's.  (And with 435 women's teams in 2010-2011, there might be more like 90 conferences combined.)

Being on the men's board at the moment, I was only thinking in terms of ranking the men. :-[  I assure you that as a fan of the defending national champion Titans, I do avidly follow the women!  (And am painfully aware that the UWSP women just slaughtered them. :P)

On the other hand, UWSP soundly beat IWU last year IN Bloomington, and last year didn't turn out too badly! ;D  We have no national POY candidates this year, so I am predicting nothing in particular for IWU, but who knows what can happen. 8-)

12/30 vs Marian/St. Norbert winner

3. (5) Stout (9-1, 3-1)-three conference wins since last rankings highlighted by road win at Platteville. 17-day layoff before Wisconsin Dells trip to take on Loras and Concordia-Wisconsin.

12/29 vs Loras (IA) in Wisconsin Dells
12/30 vs Concordia (WI) in Wisconsin Dells

No one is a bigger, better WIAC men's basketball fan than you "old school". You know your stuff better than anyone.

I still remember the picture of you holding the National Championship walnut and bronze and some security guy in the background with a snarl on his face. If you have that pic please post it.

Greek Tragedy

Thanks for the compliments BDB, but John Gleich (aka Point Special) has a leg up on me, or at least a foot and a half.   :P

I can dig up that picture, but I always have to remember how to post it via flickr.  ::)
