Correct. A majority means more than half, but not necessarily just one more than half. Most people would call that a scant majority. But you chose to interpret it as a "revisionist" statement, implying that I had pulled back from my original statement. Not true.

I am guilty of being imprecise, however. That's why I added "3/4 of the games, minimally," which you chose to ignore.

But that's ok. I'm used to ad hominem arguments, or at least I was when I was mayor.

hoops 2--well done! Referees deserve more praise than they get. I gather that is not a "majority" opinion.

I ignored it, because I can't make an argument until you are able to express what you are talking about clearly.

Now that you have done so, I would disagree. Not every coach in the WIAC would win 75 percent of their games with UWSP's roster.

I, for one, am quite surprised Semling has, especially with Tillema out. Granted, we've had Whitewater, La Crosse and Stout at home since the injury, so we will see how well Point plays against Stout, Platteville and La Crosse on the road.

JB--now we're on solid ground. Lots of people disagree with my general position:  COY is  over-rated. It's easier to recruit to some places that to others. Of course, tradition is strong:  it's easier to recruit to WW and SP than to RF.

I've had some experience coaching. I was the assistant coach at UW-WW, 1964-66. That experience, plus other coaching experiences at a lower level have convinced me that talent trumps  coaching skill. Of course, it may also prove I was not a good coach.

I'm 0-1 against Hank Raymonds, freshman coach at Marquette at the time. What a nice guy: we forgot our towels and he very graciously provided us with towels after beating my WW JV team by 30-40 points.

What?? The home team doesn't routinely provide towels?  How utterly bush-league!

GT--why has DeVon Jackson played in only 9 games so far? His stats and his performance vs RF seem impressive.

WARHAWKS: 72
BluGolds: 63

Eau Claire opened the scoring when Jordan Peterson made a pair of free throws.  The WARHAWKS responded with Luke Knoble's layup and when Quardell Young followed with another layup took their first lead.  With the exception of one tie the WARHAWKS would hold the lead, which never exceeded six points, for the next eleven minutes until the BluGolds Eric Effertz hit a jumper giving them a 20-19 lead with just under five minutes remaining.  After the two teams traded turnovers Knoble scored for the WARHAWKS and started a three minute span that saw six lead changes ending when Effertz's layup put the BluGolds on top with just under two minutes left.  Neither team was able to score in the remaining time and the half ended 26-25 BluGolds.  Both teams shot well (WW: 56%, EC: 53%).  KJ Evans and Knoble  had six points for the WARHAWKS.  Peterson went 4-5 from the floor including two three-pointers to lead all scorers with 14.  Turnovers were essentially equal, 9-8, but the WARHAWKS held a 8-0 scoring edge off of them.  Knoble opened the scoring in the second half and the teams traded the lead or tied ten times over the first eight minutes.  Darnell Harris's three-pointer put the WARHAWKS back on top 40-38 and over the next seven minutes a 17-4 run created the largest lead of the game 57-42 with just under five minutes to play.  Eau Claire would cut the deficit to seven points but the WARHAWKS would go 8 of 10 from the free throw line in the game's final two minutes to maintain a lead.

Both teams continued shooting well with the WARHAWKS finishing at 55% and the BluGolds 52%.  Eau Claire made one extra shot and an extra three-pointer but the WARHAWKS made 21-33 free throws to just 9-13 for the BluGolds and had a 28-0 scoring advantage on points off of 19 BluGold turnovers.

Evans had a big game going 4-6 (2-3 3-pt) from the floor, 7-10 from the line for a team high 17 points adding a game high 6 rebounds with an assist and a steal.  Harris finished with 14 points while Knoble and Patrick Souter each had 10 points.  Alex Merg finished with a game high 3 steals.

Petersen led all scorers with 18 points.  Ex-Warhawk Nick Cragg added 17 and a team high 4 rebounds.
