My weekend blog taking a look at Point-Superior and Whitewater-Eau Claire as well as stuff from the MWC and NAC http://diiihoopsblog.blogspot.com/2013/01/weekend-analysis-8-never-foul-jump.html

Key wins for all of the top five teams. Should be fun to see who gets the 2-through-5 seeds in the conference tournament. A win against Stevens Point for any of those teams (minus Whitewater) would be huge and could decide who gets the two seed

And Point gets to prove their mettle over the next 14 days (for those of us who had to look it up to be sure  :P) as well with three tough road games - Platteville (5-5 in last ten visits), La Crosse (9-1) and Stout (8-2).  Point is 4-6 in its last ten visits to WW, 6-4 at Oshkosh, 7-3 at RF, 9-1 at EC and 9-1 at Sup.

I guess I watch too much BPL...which is British Premiere League, so you don't have to look it up! LOL  :D

And you call yourself a soccer fan. :) BPL stands for Barclay's Premier League, not British. Before the Barclay's sponsorship it was often called and sometimes still is the EPL, the English Premier League. No real fan has ever said British Premier League, because if you did the Scottish League would declare war!

I may have wondered off topic. What's this board for again?

Yeah. Not sure why I said British.  I think I had in mind that teams from the UK play in the Barclays, which used to be the EPL, as you said, English Premier League...Oops.   :-\

Speaking of the Scottish League, some want the Old Firm out, and in turn, some Celtic and Rangers fans want to join the BPL.

... which is a bit confusing, since Scotland will soon be holding a plebiscite to determine whether or not the Scots want to leave the United Kingdom and have Scotland become an independent country. So there are probably Scotsmen who would like to have their country undergo a political divorce from England, while at the same time they want their soccer teams to join the English Premier League.

All part of the ambivalent attitude that the Scots have towards the Sassenach*, I guess.

* That's what they call the English when they're feeling particularly irked by their more populous southern neighbors. Sassenach is a Scots Gaelic word that means "Saxons".

The WARHAWK basketball program is hosting a 40th year reunion of the 1973 WSUC champion WARHAWKS men's team on February 16th.  Many of the players have indicated that they will be on hand for the day's festivities and to watch the game with River Falls.  Everyone and anyone is invited to attend the game that day and share in the event.

I remember this team very well because prior to their arrival our men's program had struggled never finishing above sixth place in the league nor winning more than six games in a season during my time as an undergraduate.   Head coach Eli Crogan recruited this group and they had a great year in the 71-72 season winning over twenty games and finishing second (I think it was) in the league.  Then the next year shared the conference championship with Eau Claire who all but dominated the league at the time.  Bob Stone anchored the middle while the Grimes brothers roamed the wings with two local sharpshooters ex-Whippets Hugh Gnatzig and Tom Vande Bogart adding to the scoring punch.  They were a lot of fun to watch.

You many now return to your reading.  My digression into nostalgia is completed.

Point to Platteville is a haul too... and they're taking a fan bus (or at least were planning it before) to leave at 3:00, I think? 3:30?  They'd better decide soon!

This band of snow is to the north of Whitewater...

If you're looking at this image, Whitewater is on the Jefferson County/Walworth County line to the north of the "sn" in "snow" in the yellow text in the image.

It doesn't look like there's any snow there right now.

Whitewater looks to be just on the edge of the light blue section of this forecast map... but it does mention about 2-3 inches falling in this area still.
