Down goes Point, lost 67-62 in OT to La Crosse.

Point trailed 10 with 13:17 left. Point kept LaX to just 2 point over the next 6 minutes. Point scored 9 in that stretch, but that was really the opportunity for Point to take control.

Heuer secured a rebound with :07 and scored, then blocked a shot at the buzzer to keep it going to OT.

LaX scored quickly off a 3 and 2 offensive rebounds for buckets (they didn't have many in the game but had two huge ones in OT).

Injuries are REALLY hurting Point right now and it shows.

Alex Richard came up huge for Point with 18 points in the game. Hass had 16, but at least 11 of those were in the first half. LaX just shut him down in the second half.

Assuming that he's able to recover from this injury (and given another 10 months, I think he certainly should be able to), I think we'll see him again next year.

This isn't "insider information" or anything like that... I just think that he's coming back.

I'm reading this as he has already chosen to get the medical redshirt.  Am I reading this wrong or are we assuming IF he does, he would come back.

It's not something that anyone can "choose." It has to be applied for to the NCAA, and this is done after the season is done.

I'm sure GT meant "chosen to apply to get the medical redshirt", Mr. Nitpicky. :)

The doctor would also have to agree and stipulate that injury is serious enough that he COULD NOT return, not just DID NOT return. You aren't supposed to use a medical redshirt for an injury that is anything less than season ending.

Point is sure making this WIAC race interesting. However, outside maybe Stout, I don't see Point losing again.

Sweet revenge for Whitewater today. I didn't expect a 25 point win. Looking forward to BW's wrap-up.  :D

All of a sudden we've got a conference title race on our hands. Going to be a fun couple of weeks.

RF wins 76-71 over EC, paced by Smith w/24 pts., 3 steals. Peterson had dubl/dubl with 10 pts., 11 rbds.

Smith scored 9 of last 11 Falcon points, sufficient to keep EC at bay after they trailed by 12 at half and most of the third quarter. This gives him back to back games of 28, 24 pts., plus outstanding stats, enuf seemingly to allow him to get WIAC  player of the week.

On closer examination, Smith scored 9 of last 14 pts, all in the last 3:39 of the game. But that's still impressive!  How impressive? I could  not have done it!

I may be looking at this wrong, but I think you messed up EC's schedule a little  ::). Its going to be tough for Stout and Plattville to play double headers vs EC and LAX this week. lol

stoutfan1

Just checking the schedule it looks like EC has the bye for Wed and then Stout comes to town over the weekend. Plattville finally makes their way to Zorn a week from Wednesday.  ;D

Stout wins a big one at home over Platteville 53-50.

The game started a little slow and sloppy for both teams with the Pioneers being up 4-12 with a Rob Stallion FT 9 min into the game. The Blue Devils came back with an 8-0 run to tie the game compliments of two Ragland jumpers and an Oman baseline, left-handed DUNK in traffic (pretty impressive actually  8-)).  The two teams battled back and fourth with niether team being impressive offensively, but playing very physical on the defenesive ends of the floor. Platteville went into the locker rooms with a 4 point lead 24-28. The second half was a burner with the Blue Devils keeping it close, but never being able to take a lead. The Pioneers stretched the lead to as much as 8 with 9 min to play. Stout would not give up and after 4 Oman free throws and a Hortman 3 the lead vanished in only 2 min of play. Platt would hold a slight edge until :23 sec left in the game when Stout would take their first lead of the game thanks to a Hortman jumper. Stout would not give up the lead thanks great free throw shooting down the stretch and take the 3 point win giving a little comfort to the 3rd place spot for now.

Hortman and Cross ended with game high 17 points a piece with Cross ripping down 12 rebounds as well. Oman ended with a solid 15 pts and 8 reb. Both teams shot poorly from behind the arc (PLT 4-15, 26% and ST 2-15, 13%), but the Blue Devils took down 14 off rebounds to Platts 8, which proved to be the difference as the Pioneers shot better from the floor overall than the Blue Devils (42% to 35%). Free Throw Shooting was even as well with Stout making 13 and Platteville making 14.

The Win gives Stout a little breathing room in that 3rd place position and with Point losing both this week, the conference title is a definate possibility. Stout get Point at Johnson Fieldhouse a week from Wednesday. Gotta take care of business this week first against a tough LAX team and ask for a little help around the league to give WW and Point a couple more losses as well  ::) :o

WARHAWKS: 63
Saint Norbert: 38

After each team failed to score on their first two possessions the WARHAWKS Luke Knoble got inside for a layup and Quardell Young drilled a three-pointer initiating what would be a 9-0 run to start the game.  For the next eight minutes of the game the WARHAWKS maintained a single digit lead between five and nine points until a layup from Young at the eight minute mark created the first lead in double digits 19-9.  St Norbert would cut the deficit to single digits three times over the next three minutes but KJ Evans, jumper made the score 26-15 and would be as close as St Norbert would get the rest of the way.  Two free throws by Knoble with less than thirty seconds remaing in the half created the largest WARHAWKS lead of the game at twenty, 35-15.  St Norbert got a pair of free throws to close the half trailing by a 35-17 score.  The WARHAWKS shot 52% in the half and dominated in the paint outscoring St Norbert 16-0.  Saint Norbert made just four baskets in the half shooting a cold 27% including just 1 of 7 three-point attempts.  Knoble led the WARHAWKS with 9 points.  Darnell Harris's three-point basket two and half minutes into the second half increased the lead to over twenty 41-19.  The lead would reach a high of 28 points.  Saint Norbert would cut the deficit to less than twenty one time after that, 51-32 with six and half minutes to play.

Knoble led  balanced WARHAWKS scoring with 16 points.  Harris, Young and Evans each scored 12 points.  Young added game highs of 6 rebounds and 2 assists.  Six WARHAWKS recorded a single steal.

This was a very strong defensive performance.  In our first meeting Saint Norbert shot 48% including 61% in the second half.  Last night they shot 31%.  In the first meeting they were 5-9 from beyond the arc, last night 2-16.  In the first meeting they had 10 turnovers and last night committed 18.

Hopefully with a light week, just one game, Point can get healthy for the stretch run. It was a tough week on the road last week, but the Pointers are still in 1st place. With Tillema out this long, I will definitely take that!

A conference title without Tillema would be quite an accomplishment.  I'm just hopeful he comes back this year.  He just makes everything happen and has and giordana can set up shop on the three point circle when he's there.  Any definite word yet on Tillema?
