Greek Tragedy

Thanks, I was missing the "missed shots" stat.

You were so busy working on your Efficiency Rating that you forgot your WIAC pick ems...  :'(

Greek Tragedy

I haven't looked, but I probably have picked Oshkosh in the WIAC pick em league more than anyone...and then tonight happens!  Oh well.

I was really hoping La Crosse could steal one in Platteville.  I thought they had a good shot of getting into the regional rankings next week had they won.

I picked Point in the Pick Em, but I'm not expecting a win with all the injuries they have and the fact that Stout is a pretty good team.

After that nasty little retort, I am so tempted to use that "smite" button, but as usual, I will take the high road and let it go ;D

WARHAWKS: 84
Superior: 53

Alex Merg's jumper from the free throw line got the WARHAWKS on the board first though the Yellow Jackets answered with Brendan Bauer's three-pointer for an early lead.  The WARHAWKS regained the lead when Merg hit a three-pointer (5-3)and with the exception of the tie that followed (5-5) held it for the remainder of the first half.  The lead first reached double figures 19-9 on KJ Evans jumper at the nine minute mark.  With one exception the lead would remain in double figures for the next three minutes when the Yellow Jackets Austin Cahill would cut it to four, 24-20, with a pair of three-pointers.  The WARHAWKS responded with a three-pointer from Eric Bryson  and gradually built the lead back to double figures 35-25 when Quardell Young sank a three-pointer with two and half minutes to go.   The lead reached a high of sixteen 41-25 when Evans scored on a layup but Corry Aaron scored the half's final points for the Yellow Jackets making the score 41-27.  The WARHAWKS shot 54% in the half to 46% for Superior.  Twelve Yellow Jacket turnovers resulted in an 10-4 scoring advantage off of them.  The WARHAWKS out scored the Yellow Jackets 18-6 in the paint.  Evans led the WARHAWKS with 10 points and 7 rebounds.  Cahill hit all three of his three-point attempts and another basket to lead both teams with 11 points.  The WARHAWKS picked up where they had left off in the second half  extending the lead to twenty points 47-27 on a free throw by Young  in the first three minutes.  Superior would get it to fourteen points 47-33 with twelve and half minutes to play but the WARHAWKS responded, builting the lead back to twenty 58-38 with just under nine minutes remaining.  The lead reached it's highest point, thirty-two points 83-51, on Rory Cotter's three-point basket with just over a minute to play.

The WARHAWKS finished the game shooting 55% and the Yellow Jackets finished 46%.  Both teams shot well from beyond the arc WW:53%, 8-15: YG: 50%, 7-14).  The WARHAWKS pulled down 33 rebounds to 23 for Superior which led to a 12-4 advantage on second chance points and a 36-12 scoring advantage in the paint.  A 10 to 20 advantage in turnovers created a 19-9 scoring advantage in points off of them for the WARHAWKS.

Young finished with a team high 17 points while Evans  finished with 14, Merg added 13 and Harris 12 in limited minutes due to foul trouble.  Young also had game highs of  6 assists and a pair of steals.  Evans finished with a game high 9 rebounds.

Cahill scored 17 points (7-7 from the field including 3-3 3-pointers) to lead Superior.

stoutguy--you should try your self control to cut back on Coors! Hold back on the smite button!

Coors doesn't make stout.  Shouldn't stoutguy be drinking Guiness? ::)

Nope. He should be drinking Sprecher Russian Imperial Stout, which, to the best of my knowledge, is the only stout brewed in the state of Wisconsin (Sprecher Brewery is located in the Milwaukee suburb of Glendale). I can personally attest to the fact that it's delicious -- much tastier than Guinness Stout, in fact.

If I can find it in SE Michigan, I'll have to give it a try!  (I'm no fan of Guinness, but Mrs. Y is.)

If Stout can upset the Pointers on Wed., Stoutguy is going to have multiple beers.  Might have to see if Ale House has that Imperial Ale as Sprecher does make a very good beer.

Bell's Brewery, which is based in the Kalamazoo suburb of Comstock, makes four different stouts. Three of them are seasonals, but I've had the one that they brew year-round, Kalamazoo Stout. It's very good -- and it's easily available in Ypsilanti, according to the Bell's site.

I've tried two of Bell's stouts - like 'em, don't love 'em.

I'll still look for Sprecher's.

I think just about every brewery in Wisconsin makes a stout. To name a few off my head: New Glarus, Milwaukee Brewery Co (Ale House), and I think even LakeFront Brewery does.

I just took the Sprecher Brewery tour over the weekend. My wife and I left with two growlers filled with our favorite brew....good times!!
