stoutguy--you should try your self control to cut back on Coors! Hold back on the smite button!

Coors doesn't make stout.  Shouldn't stoutguy be drinking Guiness? ::)

Nope. He should be drinking Sprecher Russian Imperial Stout, which, to the best of my knowledge, is the only stout brewed in the state of Wisconsin (Sprecher Brewery is located in the Milwaukee suburb of Glendale). I can personally attest to the fact that it's delicious -- much tastier than Guinness Stout, in fact.

I think just about every brewery in Wisconsin makes a stout. To name a few off my head: New Glarus, Milwaukee Brewery Co (Ale House), and I think even LakeFront Brewery does.

I just took the Sprecher Brewery tour over the weekend. My wife and I left with two growlers filled with our favorite brew....good times!!

Stevens Point Brewery brews a Russian Imperial Stout under their Whole Hog label:

Who says that d3boards.com is just about basketball? I'm getting an education about Wisconsin-brewed stouts!

(Seriously, thanks to 02 Warhawk and John. I really like stouts, so I'm looking forward to trying these.)

Watch for Central Waters products as well.  I know they have an imperial stout, and their beers are very highly regarded.  Don't know if they get past Madison, though.

Sure hope not.  How can i celebrate an upset victory with all these great beer choices if you guys have all your good players on the floor.

Good think for Stout not to drop too far in those rankings after La Crosse loss...still gives them a dang good shot at moving up into a very good chance of Pool C if the beat Point

Big game tonight for Stout. I don't see Whitewater losing out to give the Blue Devils a chance at a first round bye, but for NCAA Tournament implications this game could have a very large impact. Unfortunately I will be unable to watch, but live stats will have to suffice. Go Blue Devils!

Especially if UST, Whitworth, and Buena Vista follow suit in their conference tournaments.

Point and Whitewater are Pool C locks, and they'll have to hope for other losses by teams in similar spots.... especially by teams below them in the West.

The thing that we've all got to remember... with the exception of the UAA (who doesn't have a conference tournament), for a team to be "eligible" for a Pool C bid, they've got to lose another game in their conference tournament.

So for some of those 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place teams in leagues who might be hoping for a Pool C bid, they need to either win their conference tournament or they need to hope that conference favorites win in other conferences around the country too.

Point gets the big road victory at Stout tonight in OT, 76-74.  Hass hit an off balance shot from around the free throw line with 17 seconds left to take the lead.

Hortman was really tough tonight getting 29 points.  I actually thought Point did a decent job guarding him most instances but he hit a ton of tough shots.  Hats off to Hass and McGann basically shutting down Oman.  I believe he ended up with 8 points but most came from the free throw line.

Off memory, Ritchay had 23, Hass with 18....I also know that Richard and Heuer were in double figures as well but not positive on the numbers.  Ritchay hit some humongous shots, as did Hass, and Ritchay was great off the dribble getting to the rim.  Heuer looked good down on the block but I sure wish he would rebound better.  Richard is also getting more comfortable with the ball on the block.  He backed down smaller defenders on multiple occasions.

Giordana was awful, which has been the norm for the past month.  Semling sat him basically the entire second half.  Devon played great D most of the game, which has also been the norm, but he always makes a couple really dumb plays.  Tonight it was in turning the ball over at about the worst time possible.

One thing I was disappointed with tonight was the loose ball situation.  I don't know if Point is slow or lazy, but Stout got to every loose ball during the game.  When both teams were shooting well over 50 percent, the loose balls or long rebounds really helped Stout keep the game within reach.

On a side note, Ryf returned tonight which is huge for Point.  He was solid on D but didn't do anything of note on offense.  Wasn't on the court that much but it's good for Point to have two point guards.

That loss really hurts Stout. Obviously Point is ranked higher so the Blue Devils shouldnt drop to far, but they just havent been able to get a "signature" win this season. Blew two halftime leads to Whitewater and now this OT loss to the Pointers. I don't know if they are going to have to necesarily win the conference tourny, but for sure get to the finals for a chance at the NCAA. Really hope they can take care of business on Saturday and concentrate on what they need to do.

Let's face it: if one team turns it over 16 times, 7 times in the first 6 minutes, that team has a big hole to dig itself out of. Such was the case as LAX took a 52-27 half time lead and coasted to a comfortable win over RF, 85-64. Kudos to the Lax coach who hollered out "13 pass offense"to his team  in the second half  in an effort to hold down the margin. That's a class act!

Lax shot 58% first half, 50% on threes, several from 30 ft. or more. They eventually hit 16 threes to 4 for RF (unofficial stats). Lax turned the ball over ( probably a low for the season) 4 times.

The game was well officiated by Pat Bauschelt (last year he spelled his name Bauscheldt, but he's dropped the d for whatever reason). The other possibility is that I did not know how to spell his name, but that is a very slim chance. Anyway, Pat and his partner Tom Mauer (of the Joe Mauer family) plus partner (whose name escapes me cuz he did not buy a drink, at least that I remember) did a good job refereeing.

Congrats to Stevens Point in clinching at least a share of the Conference Championship and also the #1 seed for the upcoming conference tourney.  Quite a feat without Tyler Tillema.
